本発明は、ネットワーク経由でデバイスの状態を監視するシステム、並びにそれらに適用する端末、プログラム、データ構造および方法に係り、特に、ネットワーク経由でデバイスの状態を監視するにあたってデバイスのセキュリティを向上するのに好適なデバイス状態監視システム、デバイス管理端末、デバイス監視端末、端末用プログラムおよび監視モジュールのデータ構造、並びにデバイス状態監視方法に関する。

【従来の技術】
従来、ネットワーク経由でデバイスの状態を管理する技術としては、SNMP(Simple Network Management Protocol)を利用した監視システムが広く知られている。
この監視システムでは、SNMPを実装するルータ等のデバイスと、SNMPを実装しデバイスの状態を監視するデバイス監視サーバとをネットワークを介して接続する。

デバイス監視サーバは、MIB値と呼ばれるデバイス状態情報をSNMPにより各デバイスから収集し、収集したMIB値に基づいて各デバイスの状態を表示するようになっている。管理者は、表示内容を閲覧しながら、障害が発生したデバイスを発見し、デバイスのメンテナンスに務める。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかしながら、上記従来の監視システムにあっては、デバイス監視サーバに対してデバイスを公開(オープンに)するため、デバイス監視サーバ以外の端末もデバイスにアクセス可能となり、セキュリティ上好ましくない。
インターネット技術の普及により、将来的には、各家庭において、プリンタ、プロジェクタ、PCまたは家電製品等の各種デバイスがホームゲートウェイに接続され、ホームゲートウェイを介してインターネットに接続し、インターネットからのサービスを受けられるようなシステムが構築されることが想定される。ここでのサービスには、デバイスの状態を監視し、デバイスに障害や異常が発生したときにユーザにその旨を通知する監視サービスも含まれる。

このような監視サービスを実現するために、上記従来の監視システムを適用した場合には、各家庭のデバイスにデバイス監視サーバ以外の端末もアクセス可能となってしまう。したがって、社内等で運用する場合に比して、セキュリティ上の問題は深刻である。
そこで、本発明は、このような従来の技術の有する未解決の課題に着目してなされたものであって、ネットワーク経由でデバイスの状態を監視するにあたってデバイスのセキュリティを向上するのに好適なデバイス状態監視システム、デバイス管理端末、デバイス監視端末、端末用プログラムおよび監視モジュールのデータ構造、並びにデバイス状態監視方法を提供することを目的としている。

【課題を解決するための手段】
〔発明1〕
上記目的を達成するために、発明1のデバイス状態監視システムは、
デバイスを通信可能に接続するゲートウェイ端末と、サービスを提供する複数のサービス提供端末とを通信可能に接続し、前記デバイスの状態に関するデバイス状態情報を前記デバイスから取得し、取得したデバイス状態情報に基づいて前記デバイスの状態を監視するシステムであって、
複数のユーザが所属可能なグループを複数構成し、
前記複数のサービス提供端末のうち少なくとも1つは、前記デバイス状態情報に基づいて前記デバイスの状態を監視するデバイス監視端末であり、
