このような有用性のある通信機能を持つ電力量計として、従来、回転子円板の回転測定により電力を計量し、その計量値を指針又は現字表示する計器駆動部分を備えてなる誘導型電力量計に、回転子円板の一回転に対して一定数の電気的パルスを発生するパルス発信装置を組込み、このパルス発信装置からのパルス信号をデータ処理装置に送ってデータ処理する、あるいは、遠隔位置の表示装置に送って表示することにより、自動検針又は集中検針を行えるようにしたものが知られている(例えば、非特許文献1参照)。
