本発明は、椅子のヘッドレスト装置、特にそのヘッドレストの高さ調節装置に関する。

従来のヘッドレストの高さ調節装置としては、例えば、特開2001−314268号公報に記載されているように、背凭れから上方に向かって延出する左右1対の縦杆(枕支持杆)に複数の凹部を長手方向に所要の間隔をもって設け、かつヘッドレストに設けた爪を上記凹部のいずれかに係合することにより、ヘッドレストを所望の高さに保持するようにしたものや、それと上下逆の構造となるように、ヘッドレストから垂下する左右1対の縦杆(枕支持杆)に複数の凹部を長手方向に所要の間隔をもって設け、かつ背凭れに設けた爪を上記凹部のいずれかに係合することにより、ヘッドレストを所望の高さに保持するようにしたもの等がある。
また、ヘッドレストを上方に一段ずつ引き上げることができるが、途中からは下降させることができず、一旦予め定めた上限に達した後、始めて下限まで下降させることができるようにしたものもある。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかし、上述の前者の爪を用いるものでは、ヘッドレストの高さ調節をする度に、爪を凹部から離脱させる作業を行わなければならず、操作が面倒であり、また、後者は、構造が複雑で高価になる等の問題がある。

本発明は、従来の技術が有する上記のような問題点に鑑み、操作及び構造が簡単であるとともに、組み付け及び分解の作業性がよく、しかもヘッドレストを安定して支持することができるとともに、ヘッドレストを円滑に上下動させることができるようにした椅子のヘッドレスト装置を提供することを目的としている。

【課題を解決するための手段】
本発明によると、上記課題は次のようにして解決される。
(1) 背凭れの上部より起立し、かつ上端部でヘッドレストを支持するようにした枕支持杆を、下端部が背凭れの上部に取り付けられ、ほぼ上方を向くとともに、側面に開口が設けられた支持筒と、この支持筒内に上方より摺動自在に嵌合され、かつ上端部にヘッドレスト支持部が形成されるとともに、前記開口に対向する面に、複数の被係合部が上下多段状に設けられた昇降杆と、前記開口を閉塞するように前記支持筒の側面に着脱自在に設けられ、かつ前記昇降杆の複数の被係合部に選択的に弾性係合することにより、前記昇降杆を所望の高さに保持しうる弾性変形可能な係合部を有する閉塞部材とにより構成する。

(2) 上記(1)項において、支持筒の後部の横断面を、前方に向かって拡開する平面視V字状とするとともに、昇降杆の後面を、前記支持筒の後部の前面に補形をなす形状とする。
