本発明は、主に19インチ以上の比較的大型の液晶表示に適した液晶表示装置に関するものである。

【従来の技術】
主に19インチ以上の比較的大型の液晶パネルで、液晶パネルの背面に直下型の蛍光ランプを収納配置したランプ室を設け、このランプ室と液晶パネルとの間に光拡散板を配置したものでは、光拡散板をランプ室の外周縁で支持している為、光拡散板の中央が自重により湾曲し、液晶パネルの表示品質等に影響を及ぼすという問題がある。

一方、上記問題点を解消すべく、例えば特開平7−56141号公報や、特開2001−266634号公報に示される様に、拡散板やシートの中心部分とその周囲、或いは液晶パネルの略全面を複数のピン状支持部材で支持したものがあるが、前者の中心部分のみで支持する場合、液晶パネルの大型化に伴って荷重が中心に集中して変形し、その周囲に配置した支持部材が機能しないで輝度むらが発生し易いという問題があり、後者の場合には、上記前者の問題と併せて支持部材の中で実際に機能している部分は数点であり、無駄となる支持部材があるという問題がある。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
そこで本発明は、バックライトの光拡散板やシート類を効果的に支持し、これらの変形を確実に防止すると同時に、部品点数の削減によるコストダウン等を計る事を目的とするものである。

本発明は、ランプ室と、このランプ室内に並列配置した複数の直管状の蛍光ランプと、上記ランプ室の背面に配置された反射板と、この反射板上で上記蛍光ランプ間に各々設けられた複数の樹脂製反射材と、上記蛍光ランプの前面に配置した光拡散板と、この光拡散板の前面に配設した液晶パネルとを備えたものにおいて、前記反射材には、上記光拡散板を支持する支持突起が一体的に形成されており、前記支持突起は、前記液晶パネルの二つの対角線のそれぞれ等分する位置の近傍である4箇所に各々設けられて成るものである。

【発明の実施の形態】
本発明の実施例を先ず図1に基づき説明すると、1は例えば19インチ以上の比較的大型で横長の液晶表示装置で、バックライト装置2の前面に、大画面に適したSTN液晶パネルやTFT液晶パネルにて構成した液晶表示器3を連結して構成している。

一方、上記バックライト装置2は、図2にても示す様に、有底箱状の底ケース4の開口部5に、板厚が2〜3mm程度でアクリルやポリカーボネート等の透光性樹脂からなる光拡散板6を配置していると共に、この光拡散板の前面に集光性シート7・・等を積層したシート類を配置して構成している。

又、上記底ケース4の開口部5口縁には、該部を外側に向けて折曲して鍔部8を一体形成し、この鍔部に上記光拡散板6等の外周縁を載置していると共に、上記鍔部8に板金を略L字状に折曲成形したセンターシャーシ9をビス10留めし、このセンターシャーシの上片11と上記鍔部8により、上記光拡散板6やシート類を固定している。

更に上記液晶表示器3は、2枚の透明電極付きガラス基板12,12の間に液晶を封入し、かつこれらガラス基板の前後に偏向板や位相差板等の光学シート13,13を配置して構成した液晶パネル14を、上記センターシャーシ9の上片11の前面に載置し、そして、断面略L字状で金属性薄板の成形品から成る外枠15を上記センターシャーシ9にビス16・・止めすることで、センターシャーシ9の上片11と外枠15の前辺17との間に液晶パネル14を固定して構成している。

又、上記底ケース4の内部にはランプ室18を区画形成していると共に、底ケース4の内面には、内表面を光反射率の高い白色系に着色した反射板19を配置し、かつ上記ランプ室18内部には、冷陰極蛍光管や熱陰極蛍光管等から成る複数の蛍光ランプ20・・を横並びにて、所謂直下型に収納配置している。

一方、上記反射板19の底面上には図3にても示す様に上記蛍光ランプ20・・間に位置して、ポリカーボネート等の樹脂材にて成形した断面が三角形状の複数のリフレクタ21・・を所定の間隔を置いて並列配置し、これらを背面よりビス22・・固定し、蛍光ランプ20・・から放射された光を光拡散板6に向けて反射する様に構成している。尚、上記リフレクタ21・・の材質に高反射グレードを用いることで、液晶パネル14の輝度を向上する事ができる。

又、上記リフレクタ21・・には、図4にても示す様に、上記底ケース4の開口部5の対角線23,23を略3等分する位置に近接する4箇所に、先端を上記光拡散板6の背面に当接してこれを支持するピン状の支持突起24・・を一体的に突出形成している。

更に、上記反射板19のリフレクタ21・・取付け位置には抜き孔25・・を穿孔すると共に、これに対向位置して底ケース4に座押し26・・を一体に折曲形成し、これら座押し部分にて上記ビス22・・固定を行っている。これにより、座押し26・・にてリフレクタ21・・の位置決めを簡単かつ確実に行う事が出来ると共に、ビス22・・の締め付けにより発生する応力による反射板19の変形を防止し、変形による乱反射による液晶パネル14の輝度むら等を防止出来るものである。

上記支持突起24・・にて、光拡散板6や集光性シート7・・等のシート類を支持することで、これらのたわみ量が略等しい位置にて、光拡散板6等の荷重を略均等に分散させて支持突起24・・にて効率的に支持する事ができ、支持個所の削減に伴う部品点数の削減によるコストダウンを計る事が出来ると同時に、光拡散板6等の変形による表示品質の低下等を防止する事が出来るものである。

尚、上記実施例にて示す支持突起24・・の位置はこれに限定されるものではなく、液晶パネル14の大きさ等に応じて適宜設定すれば良い。又、上記実施例では支持突起24・・をリフレクタ21・・に一体成形しているが、これに限定されることなく、例えばリフレクタ21・・の支持突起24・・形成部分に取付孔を穿孔し、別部材として成形した支持突起24・・をビスや接着剤で固定しても良い。

【発明の効果】
本発明の構成により、ランプ室に並列配置した複数の蛍光ランプ間に樹脂製の反射材を配置したものにおいて、この反射材の液晶パネル中央部よりコーナー寄りの数箇所に光拡散板を支持する支持突起を設けたことで、これら支持部材にて光拡散板等の荷重を略均等に分散して支持する事が出来、これによりわずかな支持突起で効果的に光拡散板等を支持し、これらの変形による表示品質の低下を防止する事が出来るものである。

又本発明の構成により、支持突起を液晶パネルの対角線を略3等分する位置に形成したことで、光拡散板等のたわみ量が略等しい位置にてこれらを確実に支持し、支持部材が受ける荷重を略均等に分散し、支持荷重の片寄りによる光拡散板等の変形を防止する事が出来るものである。
