BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a semiconductor laser module.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Generally, a semiconductor laser module is a module including at least a laser diode (hereinafter also referred to as LD) and an optical fiber for coupling light output from the LD. This semiconductor laser module is configured to be fixed in a state where the LD and the optical fiber are strictly positioned (aligned) so that the light output from the LD is maximized when it is input to the optical fiber. Yes.
A high-power semiconductor laser module used for industrial use is provided with an LD array in which a large number of LDs are arranged in parallel. This LD array has about 15 to 60 light emitting sections (hereinafter also referred to as emitters). .) Are arranged side by side. The semiconductor laser module having such a configuration can realize a high output of 20 to 40 W in continuous oscillation when the emitted light from all the emitters is collected. In order to input the light output from the LD array to one optical fiber, a mechanism for condensing the emitted light from each emitter is required.
As one means for realizing this, there is a semiconductor laser module having a configuration in which the input end side of the optical fiber is fixed in a state of being aligned with each emitter and the output end side of the optical fiber is integrated into one. It has been proposed (see Patent Document 1). The light emitted from the emitter is collected from the output end side of the optical fiber, and can be coupled to one large-diameter fiber or bundle fiber.
[0003]
In the case of the semiconductor laser module proposed in
In addition, by arranging and fixing a plurality of optical fibers in the positioning grooves of the array substrate in advance to form an optical fiber array, alignment between the LD array and the plurality of optical fibers can be performed collectively. You can also However, even in an optical fiber module configured using an optical fiber array, the optical fiber array is held on a precision stage, and the light output from each emitter is input to the optical fiber with the maximum light intensity using this precision stage. Therefore, it is necessary to align and fix the optical fiber array.

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
When aligning an optical fiber or an optical fiber array as in the configuration using
Usually, the six axes of the optical fiber or the optical fiber array are adjusted in parallel while outputting light from the emitter of the LD array and measuring the light intensity of the outgoing light coupled to the optical fiber. The work related to the adjustment of the six axes of the optical fiber or the optical fiber array is a skillful and time-consuming work, and as a positioning aligner, a large and expensive precision capable of precise adjustment of the six axes. A stage must be used.
[0006]
The present invention has been made in view of the above circumstances. That is, the work related to the alignment of the optical fiber array can be greatly reduced, the optical fiber array can be easily aligned and manufactured easily, the optical fiber array is accurately aligned, and the laser diode array has excellent coupling efficiency. An object of the present invention is to provide a semiconductor laser module in which the light emitted from the laser diode can be coupled to the optical fiber, and the light emitted from the laser diode array can be emitted from the optical fiber with low loss.

【The invention's effect】
As described above in detail, according to the first aspect of the present invention, the guide plate is made of a plate material having a uniform thickness, and one surface thereof is perpendicular to the optical axis of the emitted light from the emitter of the LD array. Since the projection of the array substrate is inserted into the window portion of the guide plate, the optical fiber array is arranged so that the input ends located on both sides of the projection are in contact with the guide plate, or the array substrate By arranging the optical fiber array so that the input end of the optical fiber array is in contact with or parallel to the guide plate, the angle (θ X ) And the angle around the Y axis (θ Y ) Angle adjustment can be performed.
In addition, when the protrusion of the array substrate is inserted into the window of the guide plate and the input ends located on both sides of the protrusion are in contact with the guide plate, the emitter of the LD array and the optical fiber fixed to the protrusion By adjusting the distance between the guide plate and the LD array, the thickness of the guide plate, the protruding length of the protruding portion of the array substrate, etc. in advance so that the distance to the end surface becomes a desired value, the optical fiber array Can be adjusted in the Z-axis direction.
As described above, the work related to alignment of the optical fiber array can be greatly reduced, and alignment can be performed easily. Therefore, as in the past, the position adjustment in the X, Y, and Z axis directions of the optical fiber array and the angle adjustment around each axis (θ X , Θ Y , Θ Z Compared with the case where the six axes are adjusted in parallel, the semiconductor laser can be easily performed without requiring skill, and it is not necessary to use a large and expensive positioning aligner for adjusting the six axes. Modules can be manufactured.
[0036]
Further, the positional accuracy of the optical fiber array in the Z-axis direction and the angular accuracy of the angle around the X axis and the angle around the Y axis are determined by the processing accuracy of the guide plate and the array substrate of the optical fiber array. The guide plate and the array substrate can be easily manufactured with high processing accuracy by known press molding or grinding, and the position of the optical fiber array in the Z-axis direction, the angle around the X axis, and the angle around the Y axis Can achieve excellent alignment accuracy.
For this reason, the optical fiber array is accurately aligned, the light emitted from the laser diode array can be coupled to the optical fiber with excellent coupling efficiency, and the laser light emitted from the laser diode array can be emitted from the optical fiber with low loss. Module can be realized.
[0037]
According to the second aspect of the present invention, since the one end surface of the submount is formed so as to be orthogonal to the optical axis of the emitted light from the light emitting portion of the laser diode, the input end of the array substrate is the guide plate. By placing the optical fiber array so as to be in contact with or parallel to the guide plate, the angle around the X axis of the optical fiber array (θ X ) And the angle around the Y axis (θ Y ) Can be adjusted, the work related to the alignment of the optical fiber array can be greatly reduced, and alignment can be performed easily.
