【0001】
(2‐phenylpyridine) iridium

【0050】
【0051】
Mg(1.3g,54.1mmol)を三口フラスコ(500mL)に秤り取り、アルゴン環境下でTHF(tetrahydrofuran)(100mL)を加えた。ここにC6F5Br(6.9mL=13.6g,d=1.98,1.55mmol)を室温で滴下した。室温で1時間撹拌した後、CuBr(15.8g,110mmol)を加えさらに1時間撹拌した。

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an organic light emitting material, an organic light emitting element, and an active matrix type display using the same, which are used for a flat display or the like.
[0002]
[Prior art]
As one of various elements used in flat displays, organic light emitting elements are being put into practical use, and further improvement in light emission efficiency is required. One technique for improving luminous efficiency is to use triplet excitons. In the organic light emitting device, it is considered that singlet excitons and triplet excitons are generated in a ratio of 1: 3 by recombination of holes and electrons in the organic layer. However, in the conventional luminescent material, the generated triplet exciton has a long excitation lifetime, and therefore, non-radiative thermal deactivation occurs preferentially over radiative deactivation in the deactivation process. Therefore, in the conventional organic light emitting device, only radiation (fluorescence) from singlet excitons can be used as light emission, and radiation from triplet excitons (phosphorescence) cannot be used as effective light emission. . In contrast, a research group of Princeton University has reported an organic light-emitting device using a phosphorescent organic material that exhibits phosphorescence at room temperature as a light-emitting layer (for example, see Non-Patent Documents 1 and 2). These elements exhibit high luminous efficiency compared to organic light emitting elements using fluorescent materials. Since then, research on organic light emitting devices using phosphorescent materials has been actively conducted. The phosphorescent organic material used in these studies has a complex structure mainly having heavy metals such as platinum and iridium. Tris as a typical green phosphorescent material
(2-phenylpyridine) iridium and the like.
[0003]
In the light-emitting layer of organic light-emitting devices, these light-emitting materials are usually a few percent of the appropriate host material in order to suppress non-radiative deactivation of excitons due to concentration quenching in the light-emission process and improve the light-emitting efficiency. (See, for example, Patent Document 1).

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
As described above, these phosphorescent materials are usually used by doping the host material in the light emitting layer of the organic light emitting device. Since the light emitting efficiency of an organic light emitting device having a light emitting layer manufactured by doping varies greatly depending on the doping concentration, accurate control of the doping concentration is required to stably manufacture a device exhibiting high efficiency. Usually, the light emitting layer is formed by vacuum evaporation (co-evaporation method) from two evaporation sources. However, when doping is performed by co-evaporation, it is extremely difficult to make the doping concentration uniform over the entire light emitting layer. This problem can be solved if a phosphorescent material that can obtain high luminous efficiency without using a doping technique, that is, forming a light emitting layer alone, is developed.
[0006]
The present invention relates to an organic light-emitting material, an organic light-emitting element, and an organic light-emitting element that can produce an organic light-emitting element exhibiting high light emission efficiency regardless of whether or not it is used alone, that is, whether or not a doping technique is used. The object is to provide a display using this.
[0007]
[Means and Actions for Solving the Problems]
The organic light-emitting material of the present invention includes a light-emitting metal including a ligand having at least one aryl group substituted with at least one fluorine atom or a fluorinated alkyl group represented by C n F 2n + 1 as a substituent. It is characterized by comprising a complex.
[0008]
That is, the organic light-emitting material of the present invention has a metal complex structure composed of a ligand substituted with perfluoroaryl and a central metal ion, and thus a large ligand substituted with perfluoroaryl is used. Therefore, it is considered that the interaction between excitons generated in the light-emitting element is reduced, and concentration quenching can be made difficult to occur.
[0009]
As a result, it is possible to produce an organic light emitting device exhibiting high light emission efficiency without using an organic light emitting material alone, that is, without using a technique of doping an organic light emitting material into a host material.
In this case, the central metal of the organic light emitting material is preferably a metal selected from transition metals and rare earth metals, and iridium is particularly preferably used.
[0010]
The organic light-emitting device according to the present invention includes a pair of positive and negative electrodes and a single-layer or multi-layer organic thin film sandwiched between the pair of electrodes. In this way, an organic light emitting device having the effect of the organic light emitting material can be obtained.
[0011]
In addition, an active matrix display according to the present invention is characterized in that a pixel is constituted by the above organic light emitting element and two or more thin film transistors, whereby high luminous efficiency and high response are achieved. A display with speed can be obtained.
[0012]

[0050]
[Chemical 7]
[0051]
Mg (1.3 g, 54.1 mmol) was weighed into a three-necked flask (500 mL), and THF (tetrahydrofuran) (100 mL) was added under an argon environment. C 6 F 5 Br (6.9 mL = 13.6 g, d = 1.98, 1.55 mmol) was added dropwise thereto at room temperature. After stirring at room temperature for 1 hour, CuBr (15.8 g, 110 mmol) was added and further stirred for 1 hour. Dioxane (25 mL) was added thereto, and the mixture was further stirred for 1 hour, and then Br-ppy (4.1 g, 17.56 mmol) / toluene (180 mL) was added dropwise, followed by stirring at 95 ° C. for 3 days. After completion of the reaction, the filtrate was dried up by filtering the reaction solution was allowed to cool to room temperature through Celite®, filtered through celite redissolved in toluene (400 mL), CHC1 3 / Hexane (volume ratio 1: 1) column purification. The fraction of the desired compound was confirmed by mass spectrum, and the solid obtained by evaporating the solvent was washed with hexane. The yield of the ligand ppy-C 6 H 5 was 2.78 g (49.3%).
[0052]
Next, (ppy-C 6 F 5 ) 2 Ir (Cl) dimer was synthesized according to scheme (2) using the ligand ppy-C 6 F 5 obtained in scheme (1).
[0053]
[Chemical 8]
[0054]
Na 3 IrCl 6 (280 mg, 0.55 mmol) and ppy-C 6 F 5 (441 mg, 1.37 mmol) were weighed into Schlenk and purged with argon. 2-Ethoxyethano1 (40 mL) was added thereto, freeze degassed, and heated at 105 ° C. for 10 hours. After completion of the reaction, the mixture was allowed to cool to room temperature, the solvent was distilled off, extracted with toluene, and recrystallized from a mixed solution with hexane to obtain (ppy-C 6 F 5 ) 2 Ir (Cl) dimer. The yield was 300 mg (62.8%).
[0055]
Next, complex synthesis was performed according to scheme (3) using (ppy-C 6 F 5 ) 2 Ir (Cl) dimer.
[0056]
[Chemical 9]
[0057]
(ppy-C 6 F 5 ) 2 Ir (Cl) dimer (350 mg, 0.40 mmol Ir) and Na 2 CO 3 (100 mg, 0.95 mmol) were weighed into Schlenk and purged with argon. Ethanol (100 mL) was added thereto and lightly degassed, and then acetic1acetone (d = 0.975, 90 mg, 92 μL, 0.9 mmol) was added and reacted at 50 ° C. for 4 hours. The solvent was distilled off and column purification (e1uent: CHCl 3 ) gave an orange complex. This complex was finally purified by train sublimation to obtain 138 mg (36.9%) of an orange crystalline compound (ppy-C 6 F 5 ) 2 Ir (acac).
[0058]

As described above, according to the present example, a sufficiently high luminous efficiency can be obtained as compared with the prior art without controlling the doping amount of the dopant for preventing the destabilization of the luminous efficiency.
[0065]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the organic light emitting material of the present invention, when used in a doped organic light emitting device that forms a light emitting layer together with a host material, extremely high luminous efficiency can be obtained. Even when it is used in an undoped organic light emitting device in which a light emitting layer is formed of a light emitting material alone, it is possible to obtain a higher luminous efficiency than in the prior art.
[0066]
Therefore, an undoped organic light emitting device that can be used for a doped organic light emitting device when extremely high light emitting efficiency is desired, whereas the dopant doping control is not necessary when the stability of the light emitting efficiency is important. The selection according to the request can be performed.
[0067]
Further, according to the display of the present invention, by constituting each pixel with the organic light emitting element, it is possible to obtain a display having excellent light emission stability and high light emission efficiency.
