本発明は、複写機やプリンターなどの電子写真装置等の定着装置に関する。

【従来の技術】
複写機、プリンター等による電子写真装置での定着装置では、オイルを用いてトナーとの離形性をよくして性能を維持している。特にフルカラー電子写真装置では定着装置にオイルが多く用いられている。更に昨今ではウォームアップ時間の短縮から定着装置に無端ベルトを用いたものが多く採用されている。

ここで図3に示すように無端ベルト2を用いた定着装置1では、定着性の向上のために、加熱ロール3と定着ロール4との間に掛け渡した無端ベルト2を、定着ロール4の外周位置で加圧ロール5によって押圧するときに、加圧ローラ5への無端ベルト2の接触幅を多くとる構成、すなわちニップ幅(図中A+Bの幅)を多くとるように構成している。なお無端ベルト2は加熱ローラ3と定着ローラ4とにより支持されていてエンドレスに回転可能となっている。尚、図中R2はクリーニングローラ、6,7は加熱ヒータ、8はサーミスタである。

ここで、ニップ幅(A+B)を大きくするために加熱ローラ3の位置は定着ローラ4と加圧ローラ5のニップ位置よりの下方に下がってしまう。したがって、オイル供給ローラR1により過剰にオイルが供給された場合には、加熱ローラ3の最下点部へオイルが集中してオイル溜りとなって定着入口ガイド板9へ垂れてしまい、これにより矢印方向に搬送されてきた転写紙にオイルが付着するといった不具合や、最悪の場合には機械本体内部にまでオイルが行きわたり機械本体の稼動ができなくなるといった不具合まで起こしてしまう。

本発明は、オイルの過剰供給によりオイル溜りが発生するのを防止して、異常画像や機械本体へのダメージを未然に防止することを目的とする。

以下、本発明の好適な実施の形態を図面に基づいて説明する。図1は本発明の形態の一例を示したものである。図1の装置は、定着ローラ4と加圧ローラ5のニップ位置(A幅位置)に対して、加熱ローラ3の最下点11が上方に位置している。
