【発明の属する技術分野】
本発明は、モータによって後輪を駆動する電動二輪車に関するものである。

【従来の技術】
従来の電動二輪車は、エンジン駆動式自動二輪車の動力ユニットを電動化することによって構成されている(例えば、特許文献1参照)。この種の電動二輪車は、車体フレームなどの車体の骨格をなす部材がエンジン駆動式の自動二輪車と同等に形成されており、エンジン駆動式の自動二輪車においてエンジンが搭載されている位置にモータが配設され、このモータの近傍にバッテリーが配設されていた。また、従来の電動二輪車は、燃料タンクが不要になることから、エンジン駆動式自動二輪車において燃料タンクが搭載されていた部分に別の部品が取付けられたり、収納スペースが形成されたりすることが多かった。
なお、本出願人は、本明細書に記載した先行技術文献情報で特定される先行技術文献以外には、本発明に関連する先行技術文献を出願時までに発見するには至らなかった。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかしながら、上述したようにエンジン駆動式自動二輪車の基本的な骨格を流用して電動二輪車を形成するに当たっては、燃料タンクが操向ハンドルとシートとの間に位置している場合に問題が生じた。これは、燃料タンクが操向ハンドルとシートとの間に設けられている車両は、乗員が両脚で燃料タンクを挾み、いわゆるニーグリップによって上体を安定させることがあるからである。すなわち、電動化するに当たって燃料タンクが別の部品に換えられてしまうと、ニーグリップが行い難くなるおそれがあるからである。

本発明はこのような問題点を解消するためになされたもので、燃料タンクが操向ハンドルとシートとの間に位置するエンジン駆動式自動二輪車を電動化できるようにすることを目的とする。

【課題を解決するための手段】
この目的を達成するため、本発明に係る電動二輪車は、操向ハンドルとシートとの間にエンジン駆動式自動二輪車の燃料タンクと同等の形状に形成されて電動二輪車用部品を覆う被覆部材を設け、この被覆部材の上端部に開口部を形成し、この開口部にエンジン駆動式自動二輪車の燃料タンク用蓋体と同等の形状に形成された蓋体を開閉自在に設け、前記被覆部材における蓋体を開くことにより露出する部位に充電用コネクタを設けたものである。

本発明によれば、被覆部材を乗員が両脚で挾むことによって、エンジン駆動式自動二輪車と同一の感覚でニーグリップを行うことができる。また、前記被覆部材と蓋体との接続部分は、エンジン駆動式自動二輪車の燃料タンクと同等の防水構造を採ることができるから、水に濡れてはならない充電用コネクタが収納されている被覆部材内に雨水などが浸入するのを確実に阻止することができる。

請求項2に記載した発明に係る電動二輪車は、操向ハンドルとシートとの間にエンジン駆動式自動二輪車の燃料タンクと同等の形状に形成されて電動二輪車用部品を覆う被覆部材を設け、この被覆部材の上端部に開口部を形成し、この開口部にエンジン駆動式自動二輪車の燃料タンク用蓋体と同等の形状に形成された蓋体を開閉自在に設け、前記被覆部材の内部にバッテリー収納空間を形成したものである。

【発明の実施の形態】
以下、本発明に係る電動二輪車の一実施の形態を図1ないし図4によって詳細に説明する。
図1は本発明に係る電動二輪車の側面図、図2は同じく平面図、図3は同じく背面図である。図4は図1における動力ユニットのIV−IV線断面図である。

これらの図において、符号1で示すものは、この実施の形態による電動二輪車である。この電動二輪車1は、オフロードを走行するためのもので、子供でも乗車できるように、前輪2と後輪3として相対的に小径のものが用いられている。また、この電動二輪車1の外観部材は、後述する駆動系の動力ユニットの他はエンジン駆動式自動二輪車と外観形状が同一になるように形成されている。前記前輪2は、フロントフォーク4の下端部に回転自在に取付けられ、このフロントフォーク4は、上端部に操向ハンドル5が設けられ、後述する車体フレーム6のヘッドパイプ7に回動自在に支持されている。前記後輪3は、後述する動力ユニット8の後端部に回転自在に装着されている。

前記車体フレーム6は、前記ヘッドパイプ7から車幅方向の中央部で後下がりに延びるメインパイプ9と、このメインパイプ9から動力ユニット8と前輪2との間を通って下方へ延び、下端部が動力ユニット8の下方へ延びる左右一対のダウンチューブ10と、前記メインパイプ9の後端部から車体の後方に延びるシートレール11と、このシートレール11の途中から前下がりに延びて前記ダウンチューブ10の後端に接続されたバックステー12などによって構成されている。

前記バックステー12は、1本のパイプを所定の形状に曲げることによって形成されており、動力ユニット8の後述するモータ13の下方で車幅方向へ延びる車幅方向延在部12a(図4参照)と、図1に示すように、前記車幅方向延在部12aの両端部からモータ13の両側方を通って後上がりに延びる左右一対の上下方向延在部12bとから構成されている。このバックステー12の前記上下方向延在部12bは、下端部にフートレスト14が取付けられている。

前記車体フレーム6の上部(メインパイプ9およびシートレール11)には、シート15と、このシート15と前記操向ハンドル5との間に位置する被覆部材16と、シート15の下方に位置するバッテリボックス17などが装着されている。

前記被覆部材16は、エンジン駆動式自動二輪車の燃料タンクと同等の形状に形成されており、内部にバッテリー収納空間が形成されるとともに、上端部に前記燃料タンクに用いられる燃料タンク用蓋体と同等の形状に形成された蓋体18が着脱自在に取付けられている。この蓋体18は、被覆部材16に形成された開口部(図示せず)を開閉するように構成されている。また、この蓋体18と被覆部材16との接続部分は、エンジン駆動式自動二輪車の燃料タンクと同等のシール構造が採られており、水が被覆部材16内に浸入することがないように構成されている。

この実施の形態による被覆部材16は、内部に第1のバッテリー19が収納され、前記蓋体18が取外された状態で上方に露出する部分に充電用コネクタ20が取付けられている。なお、被覆部材16は、この実施の形態では収納部材として機能するように形成されているが、下方が略全域にわたって開放されるカバー状や、下方の一部が開放されるような形状に形成することもできる。
前記バッテリボックス17は、第2のバッテリー21が収納されている。この第2のバッテリー21と前記第1のバッテリー19は、動力ユニット8のモータ13に給電するためのものである。なお、この実施の形態では第1、第2のバッテリー19,21を装備する例を示したが、車体に搭載するバッテリーとしては、これらのうち何れか一方のみとすることができる。

動力ユニット8は、車体前側の端部に位置する前記モータ13と、このモータ13の後端部に取付けられたシャフトドライブ式伝動装置31と、このシャフトドライブ式伝動装置31とともに後輪3を支持する車体右側のアーム32(図4参照)とによって構成され、前記モータ13の前端部が前記車体フレーム6に上下方向に揺動自在に連結されるとともに、後輪3を支持する後端部がリヤクッションユニット33を介して車体フレーム6の後部に連結されている。

前記モータ13は、図4に示すように、車幅方向の中央部に軸線C1が車体の前後方向を指向する状態で設けられている。この実施の形態によるモータ13は、軸線C1が車体の車幅方向の中心線C2に対して車体左側に偏るように位置付けられている。図4において、41はモータ13のロータ、42は出力軸を示す。このモータ13は、操向ハンドル5に設けられたスロットルグリップ43(図2参照)の操作量に対応するように出力が制御される。この出力の制御は、図1に示すように、動力ユニット8の前方に設けられたコントローラ44が実施する。

また、この実施の形態による電動二輪車1においては、前記スロットルグリップ43の近傍に設けられた出力切換スイッチ(図示せず)によって乗員の年齢、技量などに応じてモータ13の出力を調整できるように構成されている。
前記このコントローラ44は、前輪2とモータ13との間であって、エンジン駆動式自動二輪車においてラジエータが搭載されている位置に配設されている。さらに、このコントローラ44は、図1に示す側面視において、前記ラジエータと同等の形状に形成されている。

前記シャフトドライブ式伝動装置31は、図4に示すように、前記モータ13の後端部に図示していない固定用ボルトによって固定された前端部の減速機45と、後輪3を回転自在に支持する後部駆動装置46と、前記減速機45と前記後部駆動装置46とを接続する伝動アーム47とによって構成されている。

前記後部駆動装置46は、エンジン駆動式自動二輪車に用いられているシャフトドライブ式伝動装置の後部駆動装置と同等の構造が採られており、ハウジング52によって後輪3の車軸53の車体左側の端部を回転自在に支持し、前記車軸53の車体左側の端部に減速用傘歯車54,55を介して接続された従動軸56を備えている。後輪3の車軸53の車体右側の端部は、前記アーム32の後端部に回転自在に支持されている。また、後部駆動装置46の前記従動軸56は、後述する伝動アーム47の伝動軸57を介して前記減速機45の出力歯車50に接続されている。

前記伝動アーム47は、ロッドからなる前記伝動軸57と、後輪3の側方で前後方向に延びて前記伝動軸57を収容する取付け用フランジ付きの断面円形のパイプ58とによって構成され、前端部が固定用ボルト59によって前記減速機45のハウジング48に固定され、後端部が固定用ボルト60によって前記後部駆動装置46のハウジング52に固定されている。前記伝動軸57は、両端部が前記出力歯車50と従動軸56とに剛直に結合され、出力歯車50の回転を従動軸56に伝達する。
