【発明の属する技術分野】
本発明は、ミリ波帯やマイクロ波帯等の高周波帯で使用されるアンテナ素子に関し、特にNRDガイドL型アンテナ素子に関する。

【従来の技術】
ミリ波帯における集積回路用誘電体線路として、平行配置された一対の金属板間に誘電体ストリップを配置した非放射性誘電体線路(Nonradiative dielectric waveguide:以下「NRDガイド」という。)が知られている。

図4は基本的なNRDガイドアンテナ素子の分解斜視図である。

このNRDガイドアンテナ素子1は、2枚の金属板間(若しくは1枚の金属板上)2、3に高誘電率の誘電体ストリップ4を設け、この誘電体ストリップ4を励振することにより金属板2、3間に電波を伝送させ、先端のテーパ部4aから電波を放射させるようにしたものであり、マイクロ波帯やミリ波帯において金属板2、3の内壁による導体損の軽減を図ることができる。

この種のNRDガイドのアンテナ素子としては、以下の図5及び図6に示したアンテナが知られている。

同図に示すアンテナ素子10は、電界方向にテーパを持たせた角柱状の誘電体ストリップ11を金属板12から外部に露出させたものである。このアンテナ素子10は、NRDガイドが主要伝送モードの電界成分の金属板12に対する平行性を利用したものである。尚、13はミリ波発振器、14は金属ストリップ共振器、15は高誘電率シート、16は周波数変調器、17a、17bは導波路、18はサーキュレータである(特許第2855246号)。
(2) 図6はNRDガイドアンテナ素子の他の従来例を示す分解斜視図である。

同図に示すアンテナ素子20は、誘電体共振器21に、第二の面状導体22に設けた開口部22aの誘電体共振器21側よりサイズの大きいつば部21aを設け、第一の面状導体23の固定穴23aに誘電体共振器21をはめ込んだものである。

ここで、電波は、XY面の成分を有する電界と、XZ面の成分を有する磁界とを生じるLSMモードとなって誘電体ストリップ24を伝搬し、その端部において誘電体共振器21と電磁結合し、誘電体共振器21より第三の面状導体25に形成されたスロット25aを介して、第二の面状導体22に形成された開口部22aからその法線方向に電磁波として放射される(特開平11−27034号公報参照)。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかしながら、図5に示した従来技術では、誘電体ストリップが金属外部に大きく露出するため、機械的に損傷しやすい。また、図6に示した従来技術では、部品点数が多くなるため、材料費が高くなり、組立てに手間がかかるので高価なものとなるという問題があった。

そこで、本発明の目的は、上記課題を解決し、機械的に損傷しにくく、部品点数の少ないNRDガイドL型アンテナ素子を提供することにある。

【課題を解決するための手段】
上記目的を達成するために本発明のNRDガイドL型アンテナ素子は、第一の金属板と、短い部分が第一の金属板に対して垂直になるように長い部分が第一の金属板上に配置され、かつ短い部分の先端部がテーパ状に形成され、屈曲部の外側に傾斜面が形成されたL字形状の誘電体ストリップと、誘電体ストリップの先端部が露出するように開口部が形成され誘電体ストリップの長い部分を挟むように第一の金属板と平行に配置された第二の金属板とを備えたものである。

上記構成に加え本発明のNRDガイドL型アンテナ素子は、ホーンアンテナあるいは誘電体レンズもしくは両方の中心軸が第二の金属板の法線方向に沿うように第二の金属板の開口部に設けられていてもよい。

本発明によれば、高周波がL字形状の誘電体ストリップの長い部分に入力されると、高周波が長い部分から短い部分に伝搬し、傾斜面で反射して第二の金属板の開口部から第二の金属板の法線方向に放射される。このため、誘電体ストリップの外部に露出する先端部32aaを少なくすることができるので、小型化でき、機械的強度が向上する。また、誘電体ストリップ32の形状はL字形状と単純なため低価格での製造が容易である。従って、機械的に損傷しにくく、部品点数の少ないNRDガイドL型アンテナ素子の提供を実現できる。

以下、本発明の実施の形態を添付図面に基づいて詳述する。

図1は本発明のNRDガイドL型アンテナ素子の一実施の形態を示す分解斜視図である。図2は図1に示したNRDガイドL型アンテナ素子の組立て後の側面図である。尚、本実施の形態ではミリ波用のNRDガイドL型アンテナ素子の場合について説明する。

このNRDガイドL型アンテナ素子30は、第一の金属板31と、短い部分32aが第一の金属板31に対して垂直になるように長い部分32bが第一の金属板31上に配置され、かつ短い部分32aの先端部32aaが角錐状(円錐状あるいは先細りのテーパ状でもよい。)に形成され、屈曲部32cの外側に傾斜面32ccが形成されたL字側面形状で矩形断面形状(あるいは円形断面形状でもよい。)の誘電体ストリップ32と、誘電体ストリップ32の先端部32aaが露出するように矩形(円形あるいは多角形若しくは楕円形でもよい。)の開口部33aが形成され誘電体ストリップ32の長い部分32bを挟むように第一の金属板31と平行に配置された第二の金属板33とで構成されている。

第一の金属板31及び第二の金属板33は例えば銅板からなり、誘電体ストリップ32は例えばアルミナからなっている。

ここで、誘電体ストリップ32は、第一の金属板31と第二の金属板33とで挟まれた構造を有し、NRDガイドとして機能する。

いま、導波管、伝送回路(図示せず。)などの外部から誘電体ストリップ32内に伝送されたミリ波は、誘電体ストリップ32内をXY平面の成分を有する電界とXZ平面の成分を有する磁界とを生じるLSM(LongitudinalSection Magnetic)モードとなって伝搬する。誘電体ストリップ32は、屈曲部32cの外側に45度の傾斜面32ccが形成されているので、LSMモードで金属板31、33に平行に伝搬してきた電磁波は傾斜面32ccで金属板31、33の法線方向に反射され、放射面としての先端部32aaから外部に放射される。

このアンテナ素子30は第二の金属板33から露出する先端部32aaが短いため、露出部を少なくなり、その結果小型化することができ、機械的強度が向上する。また、誘電体ストリップ32の形状はL字形状と単純なため低価格での製造が容易である。従って、機械的に損傷しにくく、部品点数の少ないNRDガイドL型アンテナ素子の提供を実現できる。

以上において本発明によれば、ミリ波発信機からの信号を伝搬させる誘電体ストリップ線路(いずれも図示せず。)と、L字形状の誘電体ストリップ32とを第一の金属板31と第二の金属板32とで挟み、かつ、誘電体ストリップ32の先端部32aaを外部に露出させるため第二の金属板33に開口部33aを形成したので、外部に露出する放射部を少なくすることができるので、小型化でき、しかも機械的に強くなる。誘電体ストリップ32の形状は単純であり、一体であるため低価格化が可能である。尚、本実施の形態ではミリ波の場合について説明したが、マイクロ波やサブミリ波等の高周波にも適用できる。
