また、トリガイの種苗生産技術についても、具体的な方法を非特許文献2に示しているが、養殖用優良種苗の作出のための品種改良をなしうる方法は見出し得なかった。
「トリガイ黄色個体の出現とその遺伝性について」日本水産学会誌第61巻第6号927−928(1995) 「トリガイの種苗生産技術について」養殖、25(6)、109−113(1988)
このような手法によると、異なる系統間での交配が成功したかどうかが現場で容易に判断できる。
血縁関係が非常に少ないと考えられる黄色個体系統(P13)の卵とH11系統(P3)の精子を掛け合わせ、雑種強勢による優良種苗の作出の可能性を検討するため、平成15年5月21日に黄色個体系統(殻長82.5mm、83.9mm)の2個体の卵にH11系統(殻長86.8mm)の精子を掛け合わせた。
同5月21日に採卵した黄色個体系統(P14)とH11系統(P4)および上記交配系統の養殖開始サイズまでの飼育結果を表3に示す。黄色個体系統とH11系統の成長生残はほぼ同じであったが、交配系統の成長は沈着稚貝飼育以降良好で、両親の系統である黄色個体系統およびH11系統よりも明らかに良好であった。また交配系統の生残率は沈着稚貝飼育まではやや悪かったが、中間育成中の生残率は高く、通算の生残率で見ると両親の系統である黄色個体系統およびH11系統よりも高かった。
養殖試験は京都府舞鶴湾白浜沖の養殖施設において、平成15年8月18日に開始した。養殖にはポリプロピレン製コンテナ(内寸50×32×深さ21cm)を各系統ごとに3コンテナ用いた。コンテナには、底質としてアンスラサイトを入れ、稚貝を収容した網蓋をして、水深5m層で垂下養殖した。開始から10月までは1ヶ月毎に、以降は2ヶ月毎に新しいコンテナと網蓋に交換し、貝の飼育密度を調整した。開始から10月までは1cm目合いの網蓋を付け、40個/コンテナ、10月以降には2cm目合いの網蓋を付け、25個/コンテナとした。
通常のトリガイ稚貝(H11系統を含む)は、殻長2mm以上になると貝殻表面に褐色の規則的な雲状斑が出るが、黄色個体には見られず、貝殻全体が淡黄色を呈している。黄色個体とH11系統との交配系統では、雲状斑は見られるが所々で切れたり、斑の色が薄くなり不鮮明となり、全体の印象もH11系統より色が薄く、黄色個体とH11系統の中間色となる。
また、この方法は、トリガイだけでなく、雌雄同体の貝であるイタヤガイなどでも利用可能である。更に、雌雄異体の貝であっても天然貝では全く見られない殻色などの遺伝形質を利用した選抜育種と選抜した異なる系統を交配した雑種強勢による新品種の作出手法は、貝類の効率的な品種改良方法として利用可能である。
Claims (2)
- トリガイの殻色黄色個体を兄妹交配して得た黄色個体系統を放卵個体とし、通常の褐色個体の自家受精により得た褐色個体系統を放精個体として、交配することを特徴とするトリガイ新品種の作出方法
- 上記黄色個体系統として黄色個体の兄妹交配2世代目以降のものを使用し、上記褐色個体系統として褐色個体の自家受精2世代目以降のものを使用したことを特徴とする請求項1の方法。
