【発明の属する技術分野】
この発明は自動二輪車に乗るライダーが足を置くステップに関する。

【従来の技術】
自動二輪車は、フレームの上方に設けられたシートにライダーが跨って着座し、フレーム下部の左右に側方に突出させて設けたステップに足を置くことができるようになっている。このようなステップの構造として、従来例えば特開平4−334683号公報に公開されたものがある。

これは、ステップの基端を上方に回動可能に枢着したステップブラケットの横孔にゴムブッシュを取付け、そのゴムブッシュの内孔に通したボルトをフレーム下部側面のボスに締着し、左右のステップブラケットの下端を連結パイプの両端に締着して連結するようにしたものである。

【解決しようとする課題】
前記従来のステップ構造は、左右のステップブラケットの下端をブラケットの厚み分でクロス部材としての連結パイプに締着して連結するので、ブラケットの厚みを厚くしないとその締着部の強度を向上させることが困難であった。

また連結パイプの前方から下方にかけては、通常チェンジペダル、ブレーキペダル、マスターシリンダ、マフラー等が配置されているので、それらの部材と干渉しないように連結パイプを設けることが困難であった。

【課題を解決するための手段および効果】
前記従来の課題を解決するために、請求項1記載の発明は、ステップバーの基端が上方に回動可能に枢着された一対のステップブラケットが、前後方向に延びる左右一対の下部フレームに緩衝材を介して取付けられた自動二輪車において、それらステップブラケットに内方へ延びる延出部がそれぞれ設けられ、該延出部がクロス部材により互いに連結され、該クロス部材がリヤブレーキのマスターシリンダの下方を迂回して設けられたことを特徴とする自動二輪車のステップ構造である。

請求項1記載の発明は、上記のとおり、一対のステップブラケットに内方へ延びる延出部が設けられ、該延出部がクロス部材によって連結されるので、締付部の面積を広くとれるため、板状等のクロス部材を用いることができ、クロス部材の取付面積を大きくして取付強度を向上させることができる。また、クロス部材がリヤブレーキのマスターシリンダの下方を迂回して設けられたことにより、地面から跳ね上った泥等がマスターシリンダにかかるのを防ぐことができる。

また請求項2記載の発明は、前記請求項1記載の発明において、上記下部フレームに対する上記ステップブラケットの取付部は該ステップブラケットの前部と後部に設けられ、該後部が上記クロス部材により互いに連結されるとともに、上記ステップブラケットの前方から下方にかけてそれぞれチェンジペダルおよびブレーキペダルが配置されたことを特徴とするものである。

【発明の実施の形態】
図1は本発明の一実施形態を示す側面図、図2は同じく平面図、図3は同じく背面図である。

本実施形態が適用される自動二輪車は、図1に示されるように、ヘッドチューブ31の上部から後方へ延びるメインフレーム32と、ヘッドチューブ31の下部から後下方へ延びる一対のダウンチューブ33を備えている。そしてダウンチューブ33の下部とメインフレーム32後部の垂下部32aの下部とは、ほぼ水平な下部フレーム1によって接続されている。またダウンチューブ33の後方にはエンジン36が配される。図中34はシートレール、37は気化器、38はエアクリーナである。

また図2、図3に示されるように、自動二輪車の前後方向に延びる上記一対の下部フレーム1に、一対のステップブラケット3が、前部と後部2箇所で、緩衝材としてのラバー12を介して取付けられ、そのステップブラケット3にステップバー4の基端が上方に回動可能に枢着されている。それらステップブラケット3の後部には、内方へ延びる延出部3aが設けられ、それら延出部3aが断面コ字状のクロス部材5により互いに連結されている。

なお図1ないし図3中の6、7は、両側のステップブラケット3の前方にそれぞれ設けられたチェンジペダル、ブレーキペダル、8はリヤブレーキのマスターシリンダ、9は排気管をそれぞれ示す。前記クロス部材5は上記マスターシリンダ8の下方を迂回して設けられている。

次に図4は下部フレーム1に対するステップブラケット3の取付状況を詳細に示す背面から見た断面図である。下部フレーム1に穿設された穴に縦断面T字状のT字カラー11が挿入され溶着される。このT字カラー11にラバー12を介してステップブラケット3が取付けられ、座金13を当てた後、ボルト14をねじ込んで締結される。

また図5は、ステップブラケット3の延出部3aとクロス部材5との取付状況(図3のV部)を示す分解斜視図である。上記延出部3aに設けられるボルト穴3bは長穴であって、クロス部材5と連結する際には、前記図4に示される座金13とステップブラケット3との間に隙間15があることを確認し、長穴3bで左右を調整して組付ける。

まず図6、図7に示されるように、ステップバー4には使用時にライダーの靴裏に接するステップラバー4aが取付けられる。このステップラバー4aは衝撃緩和と滑り止めの役割を果たす。

次に図8に示されるように、ステップブラケット3とステップバー4との間にも緩衝材としてラバー21を介在させる。すなわち、ブッシュ22a、22bの間にラバー21を焼付け固定し、これに回動軸23を挿入して、ステップバー4の基端をステップブラケット3に枢着する。26はワッシャ、27は割りピンである。そして、回動軸23の一端部にはスプリングカラー24をガイドにしてスプリング25を巻付け、ステップバー4が上方に回動するよう付勢する。ここでスプリング25とブッシュ22aが干渉しないよう、スプリングカラー24にはフランジ24aが設けられている。フランジ24aはまた、ラバー21がたわんでステップが垂れ下がらないようにするストッパーの役割も果たす。
