BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an antenna structure of an RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) system characterized in that data is read from and written to a mounted IC chip in a non-contact manner, and can be used particularly close to a metal. The present invention relates to the structure of a reader / writer antenna.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In recent years, RFID systems that perform data communication between a tag including an IC chip and a reader / writer (or a reader) have become widespread. Since this RFID system communicates data using the antenna provided in each of the tag and the reader / writer, it can communicate even when the tag is separated from the reader / writer. It has come to be used for purposes such as exit management and personal authentication.
[0003]
As a reader / writer antenna used in the RFID system, an air-core coil has been conventionally used because it is inexpensive and has excellent performance. This air-core coil antenna is formed, for example, by winding a conductive wire covered with an insulating layer in a spiral shape and attaching it to a base plate, or a metal foil such as aluminum foil or copper foil deposited on the base plate. Those formed by removing by etching are known.
[0004]
Since the air core coil antenna generates magnetic flux in a direction penetrating the base plate, for example, as shown in FIG. 7, an air core structure reader / writer antenna 3a is used as a metal member such as a
[0005]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
In recent years, with the improvement in performance, miniaturization, and cost reduction of RFID systems, reader / writers are being installed not only as a single device but also in various electronic devices. Electronic devices are generally housed in metal cases to protect internal components. However, when a reader / writer is incorporated into an electronic device, the reader / writer antenna must be installed on the surface of the metal case. In such a case, there is a problem that the radio wave is canceled by the eddy current and the data communication with the tag is hindered.
[0006]
However, when the tag is brought close to the metal case, there is a problem that the inductance of the tag antenna decreases due to the influence of the metal case, the resonance frequency becomes high, and communication becomes impossible. In particular, when a reader / writer is incorporated in an electronic device such as a portable terminal device, the size of the reader / writer antenna cannot be increased, and the tag is inevitably used in close contact with the reader / writer antenna. As a result, the influence of the metal case becomes significant and the inductance is remarkably reduced. As a result, an area where communication is impossible occurs.
[0007]
In order to prevent the interaction between the tag and the metal case, there is a method of installing a spacer so that the tag does not get too close to the metal case. This is a major obstacle to miniaturization of terminal equipment. In addition, it is possible to set the resonance circuit constant of the tag so that the desired resonance frequency is obtained when the tag is close to the metal case, but in this case, if the tag moves away from the metal case, reading cannot be performed normally. In addition, reading is not possible when a non-metal case is used.
[0008]
The present invention has been made in view of the above problems, and the main object of the present invention is to provide a tag that is affected by a metal case even when a reader / writer antenna is installed on the surface of the metal case of an electronic device. An object of the present invention is to provide a reader / writer antenna that can suppress a decrease in inductance.
[0009]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, a reader / writer antenna of the present invention is a reader / writer antenna in an RFID system that performs data communication between antennas using electromagnetic induction or electromagnetic coupling. the antenna coil is formed so as to wind the member comprises a metal or metal Ru is placed on the case constituted a magnetic core consisting of a flat plate-like magnetic material, the front and rear surfaces thereof at the biased position of the magnetic core with the door, the magnetic core includes a region where the antenna coil is formed, the tag to communicate with the antenna for the reader / writer, and a suppressing inductance compensation region a reduced inductance due to interaction with the casing It is to be prepared. Since the direction of the magnetic flux of the antenna is parallel to the plane direction of the flat plate, that is, the metal plate, it is not canceled out by the eddy current flowing through the metal.
[0010]
The reader / writer antenna of the present invention is a reader / writer antenna in an RFID system that performs data communication between antennas using electromagnetic induction or electromagnetic coupling, and the antenna includes metal or metal. Ru is placed on the case constituted by the members, comprising a magnetic core made of a flat magnetic material, and an antenna coil formed in a spiral shape on one surface of the biased position of the magnetic core, the magnetic the core includes a region where the antenna coil is formed, the tag to communicate with the antenna for the reader / writer, in which and a suppressing inductance compensation region a reduced inductance due to interaction with the casing.
[0014]
As described above, in the present invention, by using a flat magnetic material having a predetermined thickness and area as the magnetic core material of the antenna for the reader / writer installed in the metal case of the electronic device, the inductance is reduced by the metal case. And offsetting the increase in inductance due to the magnetic material that also serves as a magnetic core to suppress fluctuations in the inductance of the tag, thereby expanding the readable range of the tag and improving the communication performance between the reader / writer and the tag. it can.
[0015]
In particular, as a magnetic core material, a coating material containing metal particles or metal flakes is applied to a PET film and dried, and if necessary, a laminated material can be used to reduce the thickness of the magnetic material. The thickness of the antenna can be reduced, and the reader / writer can be incorporated into a small electronic device such as a portable terminal device.
[0016]
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
As described in the prior art, when an RFID reader / writer is incorporated into an electronic device, a reader / writer antenna is installed on a metal case. In this case, the magnetic flux of the reader / writer antenna is applied to the metal surface. There is a first problem that it is offset by eddy current flowing in the metal because it is vertical, and a second problem that the inductance of the tag is reduced due to the interaction between the metal case and the tag.
[0017]
In the first application (Japanese Patent Application No. 2002-8146), the applicant of the present application counteracted the first problem by the magnetic flux generated by the eddy current flowing in the metal because the magnetic flux of the reader / writer antenna is perpendicular to the metal surface. A structure in which the magnetic component of the radio wave of the reader / writer is parallel to the metal surface by winding a coil around a plate-shaped magnetic core material made of a soft magnetic member and arranging it parallel to the metal surface. The antenna of the structure which arrange | positions a magnetic core material in the direction which touches the metal of this antenna and a planar spiral antenna, and a magnetic flux passes through the magnetic core material but does not pass a metal is proposed.
[0018]
In the structure of the above-mentioned prior application, an antenna coil is formed on a flat magnetic core made of a soft magnetic material having a predetermined thickness and formed by a predetermined material and manufacturing method. In this structure, the magnetic flux passes through the magnetic core. In order to pass through, either structure can be used with the reader / writer antenna installed directly on the surface of the metal case.
[0019]
However, since the structure described in the prior application is related to the reader / writer antenna, the interaction between the metal case and the tag may not be sufficiently suppressed even when the reader / writer antenna having the structure is used.
[0020]
Therefore, in the RFID reader / writer of the present invention, not only the interaction between the metal case and the reader / writer antenna, but also the interaction between the metal case and the tag can be suppressed, It is characterized by specifying the thickness.
[0021]
Specifically, the area of the magnetic core material of the reader / writer antenna to be installed on the surface of the metal case is set to 30 cm 2 or more with respect to the shape of the front or back surface wound or the spiral antenna, and the thickness of the magnetic core material Is in the range of 0.16 to 6 mm, preferably 0.48 to 1.12 mm, and a magnetic core material having a size larger than that of the normal reader / writer antenna 3a is used, thereby reducing the inductance of the tag due to the metal case. This can be offset by an increase in inductance due to the magnetic material that also serves as the magnetic core, thereby suppressing fluctuations in the inductance of the tag and expanding the readable range, and using the tag in close contact with or close to the metal case. Even keep in good communication. Hereinafter, the above embodiment will be described in more detail.

Usually, the tag antenna 4a is formed of a spiral air-core coil arranged on a plane, and when such a coil is close to the metal plate 1a which is a conductor, the inductance decreases due to the influence. On the other hand, it is known that when such a coil is close to a magnetic body, the inductance increases due to the influence. Therefore, by forming the

【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the reader / writer antenna structure of the present invention, even when the antenna is installed on the surface of the metal case, reading can be performed while suppressing the decrease in the inductance of the tag due to the influence of the metal plate. The range can be expanded.
[0048]
The reason is that a flat soft magnetic member is used as the magnetic core material of the reader / writer antenna, the area is 30 cm 2 or more, and the thickness is 0.16 mm to 6 mm, preferably 0.16 mm to 1. This is because by setting the thickness to 12 mm, the inductance of the tag can be increased while the tag is close to or in close contact with the metal case, and the decrease in inductance due to the influence of the metal plate can be offset.
