BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a heat insulating sleeve for a fixing roller formed of a resin molding used together with a bearing in a bearing device that rotatably supports a fixing roller of an electrophotographic apparatus such as a copying machine or a laser beam printer.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In general, an electrophotographic apparatus attaches toner to an electrostatic latent image formed by an optical device, transfers the toner image to a copy sheet, and further fixes it. In this fixing step, fixing with a built-in heater is performed. A toner image is passed between the roller and the pressure roller. As a result, the transfer image composed of the toner image is fixed on the copy sheet by heat fusion.
The fixing roller is made of a soft metal in which a linear or rod-shaped heater is incorporated in the shaft center portion, and is formed in a cylindrical shape in which a small-diameter shaft portion projects from both ends. The fixing roller is made of a metal material having excellent thermal conductivity such as aluminum or aluminum alloy (A5056, A6063, etc.), and the surface is finished by turning or polishing, and the surface is highly non-adhesive such as fluororesin. The resin is coated. The fixing roller is rotatably supported by the housing via rolling bearings composed of deep groove ball bearings at the shaft portions at both ends.
[0003]
Between the rolling bearing and the shaft portion of the fixing roller, it is possible to prevent heat from escaping from the rolling bearings at both ends when the fixing roller is heated, and to prevent uneven temperature distribution along the axial direction of the fixing roller, In order to prevent high temperature deterioration of the bearing, a heat insulating sleeve made of synthetic resin or the like is interposed.
The heat insulating sleeve is required to have high strength because it receives a load due to thermal expansion of the fixing roller. In addition, the fixing roller is rotatably supported by a rolling bearing, and the heat insulating sleeve does not rotate, and it has been thought that sliding performance is not necessary.
On the other hand, electrophotographic apparatuses such as copying machines and laser beam printers with a built-in fixing device have been required to be quiet in addition to functions such as high speed, light weight, and miniaturization, and design improvements. In particular, with the diversification of use places such as home use, there is an increasing demand for such quietness.
[0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, in order to increase the speed, weight, and size of the electrophotographic apparatus, it has become important for the quietness of the electrophotographic apparatus to reduce slight noise generated around the fixing apparatus. Further, when the fixing roller portion is electrically grounded, there is a problem that it is difficult to ground due to the presence of the heat insulating sleeve, and it is necessary to ground by another method.
[0005]
The present invention has been made in order to cope with such a problem. The fixing roller can reduce slight noise generated from the periphery of the fixing device and can be electrically grounded as necessary. An object of the present invention is to provide a thermal insulation sleeve.
[0006]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The present invention provides a heat insulating sleeve for a fixing roller comprising a resin molded body interposed between a fixing roller and a bearing that supports the fixing roller, wherein the resin molded body is a molded body of a resin composition, and the resin composition things, polyphenylene sulfide resin 56-60% by volume, polytetrafluoroethylene resin powder 15-20 vol%, the carbon fiber 5-9 vol% and 10 to 15 vol% calcium sulfate powder were blended with respect to the total resin composition It is characterized by.
[0007]
The shaft portion of the fixing roller is formed of an aluminum alloy.
[0008]
The resin composition is characterized by further comprising 3 to 5 % by volume of graphite with respect to the entire resin composition.
Further, the resin composition is characterized by further comprising 3 to 5 % by volume of conductive carbon black based on the whole resin composition.
[0009]
Further, the volume specific resistance value of the resin molded body containing conductive carbon black is 1 × 10 6 Ω · cm or less.
[0010]
As a result of investigating and analyzing the above abnormal noise, it turned out that one of the causes was the fact that the insulation sleeve that was supposed to not slide is sliding a little, and the vibration at that time is the cause. did.
Conventionally, structural materials with a large coefficient of friction have been used for heat insulating sleeves on the premise that they will not slide. However, because the sliding resistance is large and unstable, slight vibration is generated at the sliding part. It was. However, since the surrounding parts were thick and strong enough, resonance did not occur and it was not a problem. However, it has been found that abnormal noise is generated due to resonance as the parts become thinner due to the recent reduction in weight and size.
[0011]
The generation of abnormal noise may be achieved by reducing the friction coefficient and reducing the sliding resistance. However, since the heat insulating sleeve also requires strength, its resin composition is limited. For example, when a large amount of a solid lubricant such as polytetrafluoroethylene is added to lower the sliding resistance, the strength is extremely lowered. Further, when a large amount of glass fiber or carbon fiber is blended in order to increase the strength, the aggressiveness against the aluminum alloy that is the material of the fixing roller is increased. For this reason, the properties required for the heat insulating sleeve made of resin are that the friction coefficient is 0.25 or less, the bending strength is 40 MPa or more, and the aluminum alloy is not severely worn.
According to the present invention, a resin thermal insulation sleeve is formed into a molded body of a resin composition obtained by blending at least polytetrafluoroethylene resin powder, carbon fiber, and calcium sulfate powder in a resin mainly composed of polyphenylene sulfide. A frictional coefficient can be lowered by blending tetrafluoroethylene resin powder, calcium sulfate powder, and graphite, and a flexural strength can be increased by blending carbon fiber and graphite, and a resin composition that does not attack aluminum alloys can be obtained. did it.
[0012]
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Cross-sectional views are shown respectively.

[0013]
The resin mainly composed of polyphenylene sulfide that can be used in the present invention is a polyphenylene sulfide resin alone or in a range that does not impair the properties of the polyphenylene sulfide resin excellent in heat resistance and moldability, for example, with respect to the total amount of resin components It is a resin blended with other resins in the range of 40% by weight or less. Examples of resins that can be blended include polyamideimide resins, polyimide resins, polyetherimide resins, polyetherketone resins, polyetheretherketone resins, and phenol resins. A preferred resin is polyphenylene sulfide resin alone.

[0022]
The resin composition is composed of 55 to 65% by volume of polyphenylene sulfide resin, 15 to 25% by volume of polytetrafluoroethylene resin powder, 5 to 15% by volume of carbon fiber, and 5 to 15% by volume of calcium sulfate powder based on the entire resin composition. Blend.
Moreover, in the case of the resin composition which further mix | blends a graphite, 3-10 volume% of graphite is mix | blended with respect to the whole resin composition.
Furthermore, in the case of the resin composition which mix | blends conductive carbon black in order to provide electroconductivity, 1-7 volume% of conductive carbon black is mix | blended with respect to the whole resin composition.
When the polyphenylene sulfide resin is in the range of 55 to 65% by volume, excellent mechanical strength and moldability as a heat insulating sleeve can be maintained even when various compounding agents are blended. In addition, when the blending ratio of the polytetrafluoroethylene resin powder, etc. is in the above range, it is possible to obtain the characteristics required for a resin heat insulating sleeve, such as a friction coefficient of 0.25 or less, a bending strength of 40 MPa or more, and a fixing roller shaft. A heat insulating sleeve that does not attack the core aluminum alloy is obtained. In particular, when the blending amount of the conductive carbon black is within the above range, the volume specific resistance value of the resin molded product can be 1 × 10 6 Ω · cm or less without impairing the moldability.

Examples 1 to 5 and Comparative Examples 1 to 8
Each raw material is blended in the proportions shown in Table 1, mixed thoroughly with a Henschel mixer, then pelletized with a twin-screw melt extruder, supplied to an injection molding machine, and a heat insulating sleeve formed of a flanged cylinder as shown in FIG. Molded into. Using the obtained heat insulating sleeve, the presence or absence of abnormal noise and the attack of the aluminum alloy on the fixing roller shaft were evaluated with an actual machine. The case where no abnormal noise was generated was evaluated as “◯”, and the case where abnormal noise was observed was evaluated as “×”. Similarly, the case where no flaws were observed on the fixing roller shaft core before and after the evaluation test using an actual machine was evaluated as ◯, and the case where flaws were observed was evaluated as ×.
In addition, a journal type frictional wear test and a test piece for measuring the bending strength (ASTM D790) were similarly formed, and the friction coefficient and the bending strength were tested. If the friction coefficient is 0.24 or more, abnormal noise may be generated, and if the bending strength is 40 MPa or less, it may break during use.
Moreover, the thing with the good moldability in an injection molding machine was evaluated by (circle), and the thing with bad moldability and no mass-productivity was determined by x.
In particular, the volume resistivity was measured for materials intended to impart conductivity. The results are shown in Table 1.
[0025]
[Table 1]
[0026]
As is clear from Comparative Examples 1 to 8 in Table 1, when the amount of the polytetrafluoroethylene resin powder is small, slidability is poor and abnormal noise is generated, and when it is large, the melt viscosity is increased. The moldability becomes worse. In addition, when the calcium sulfate powder is small, slidability is inferior and abnormal noise is generated. When the calcium sulfate powder is large, physical properties such as bending strength are deteriorated. Moreover, when there are few carbon fibers, bending strength is low, and when there are many carbon fibers, aggressiveness with respect to an aluminum alloy becomes high, and it becomes an abnormal wear state, and abnormal noise generate | occur | produces.
On the other hand, in Examples 1 to 5 , the properties required for the resin heat insulating sleeve of the present invention were such that the coefficient of friction was 0.25 or less, the bending strength was 40 MPa or more, and the aluminum alloy was not severely worn. It was suitable as an insulating sleeve material. In addition, as shown in Comparative Example 7 , when the amount of graphite is large, the melt viscosity is increased and the moldability is deteriorated. As shown in Example 5 and Comparative Example 8 , when the amount of conductive carbon black is small, the required volume resistivity value for the purpose of imparting conductivity cannot be obtained, and when it is large, the melt viscosity increases and the moldability is poor. Become.

【The invention's effect】
The present invention relates to a heat insulating sleeve for a fixing roller comprising a resin molded body interposed between a fixing roller and a bearing that supports the fixing roller, wherein the resin molded body is made of polytetrafluoride as a resin mainly composed of polyphenylene sulfide. Since it is a molded body of a resin composition formed by blending at least ethylene resin powder, carbon fiber and calcium sulfate powder, a low friction coefficient, high strength, and low aggressiveness against an aluminum alloy can coexist at a high level. As a result, it is possible to contribute to speeding up, weight reduction, and size reduction of the electrophotographic apparatus.
[0028]
Moreover, since the resin composition has a predetermined blending ratio, the occurrence of abnormal noise in the electrophotographic apparatus can be suppressed to a lower level without sacrificing other required functions.
