Description
本出願は、1996年2月22日に提出された「非同期パケット交換」という名称の同時係属米国特許出願第08/ 605, 677号に関連する。
なお本発明に関連する公知例としては下記のものがある。
本発明の方法においては、送信ノードから受信ノードへ送られるべきデータパケットのコピーが、受信ノードへ送信される前に下部層内でバッファの中に記憶される。送信ノード内の下部層は、肯定応答パケットを受信した時点で、バッファ内に記憶されたデータパケットを用いて擬似応答パケットを生成する。この擬似応答パケットは次に、送信ノード内の上部層まで送られる。その結果、受信ノードの上部層は標準応答パケットを生成する必要がなく、かくしてネットワーク待ち時間および帯域幅の要求条件は低減される。
相互接続部106は、複数のノードが互いに通信できるように設計されている。相互接続部106は、網目状リンク105により接続された複数のルータを含んでいる。ルータは好ましくはクロスバースイッチである。ネットワークにわずかなノードしか含まれていない場合、相互接続部106は、1つのルータしか含む必要がない。ネットワークが2つのノードしか含まない場合、ルータを含む必要さえない。相互接続部106は、全ての通信が送信ノード102から受信ノード104へと直接渡される、パケットベースのプロトコルを使用する。相互接続部106は、マルチキャスト又はブロードキャスト能力を提供する必要がない。
図2は、図1のシステムのプロトコル層を例示するブロック図である。これらのプロトコル層は、内部でISM116,128が機能するISM層202、内部でRPM117,129が機能するRPM層204,内部でFFM118,130が機能するFFM層206及び内部に相互接続部106が存在する物理層208を含んでいる。プロセッサ108,120により実行されるソフトウェアは、ISM,RPM及びFFMユニット116,128,117,129,118,130及び相互接続106の一部分を制御する。
RPM層204では、送信ノード102が、相互接続部106を通るパスを決定するまたはそのパスに関する何らかの情報を使用する必要なしに、データパケットを受信ノード104に送る。RPM層204は、パケットを伝送するためFFM層206を用いることによりノード102,104間でのデータパケットの高い信頼性での受渡しを提供する。RPM層204内では、RPM117はデータを送信し、データパケットが受信されたことを表示する肯定応答パケットについて受信ノード104を監視する。このような肯定応答がタイムアウト期間内に受信されない場合、RPM117はデータパケットを再度送信する。RPM層204は、伝送中に喪失したかまたは破損したデータパケットを再度送信する。RPM層204はまた、重複するデータパケットを抑制し、順不同で受信されたデータパケットを再度順序づけする。RPM層204では、パケットは送信ノード102から受信ノード104へ、マルチキャストまたはブロードキャスト通信される代わりに直接送られる。ただし、1つのパケットを2以上の受信ノード104に送信すべき場合には、ISMユニット116は、各々の受信ノード104に対しパケットの別々のコピーを個別に送る。複数のRPM層204の機能は、好ましくは、ソフトウェアではなくハードウェアで実現される。
図3は、図1のシステム内でのISMレベルの要求および応答についてのタイミング図である。時間軸302が左上の時間t0 にて始まっている。時間tA では、ISMユニット116は、要求パケットを生成し、それをセグメント304で示されているように送信ノード102のRPM層204へと渡す。送信ノードのRPM層204は、セグメント306によって示されたFFMを介しての要求を、受信ノード104に伝送し、その一方でパケットのコピーが一時「伝送バッファ」内に記憶されている。伝送バッファは、好ましくはRPM117内に配置されるが、代替的には、ローカルメモリ112の中に配置されてもよい。送信ノード102のRPM層204は、セグメント308により示されている対応する肯定応答パケットが受信ノード104から受信されるまで、要求を間欠的に再送する。受信ノード104においてRPM層204は、要求パケットが誤り無く順序通り受信された場合に、肯定応答を生成する。

Claims (4)
- パケットを用いてデータの伝送を行うデータ転送方法において、
データパケットのコピーを作成した上で、伝送路を介して対向装置に前記データパケットを伝送するステップと、
前記対向装置から肯定応答を受信するステップと、
前記肯定応答の受信に応じ、前記データパケットのコピーを用いて、擬似応答パケットを生成するステップと、
前記擬似応答パケットを用いて、前記対向装置が前記データパケットを受信したことを確認するステップと、を備えたことを特徴とするデータ転送方法。 - パケットを用いてデータの伝送を行うデータ転送方法において、
データパケットのコピーを作成した上で、伝送路を介して対向装置に前記データパケットを伝送するステップと、
前記対向装置から肯定応答を受信するステップと、
前記肯定応答の受信に応じ、前記データパケットのコピーを用いて、前記対向装置が前記データパケットを受信したことを示す擬似応答パケットを生成するステップと、を備えたことを特徴とするデータ伝送方法。 - パケットを用いてデータの伝送を行うデータ転送方法において、
データパケットのコピーを作成した上で、対向装置に前記データパケットを伝送するとともに、前記対向装置から前記データパケットに対応して送信された肯定応答を受信し、前記肯定応答の受信に応じ、前記データパケットのコピーを用いて、擬似応答パケットを生成する第1の処理部と、
前記擬似応答パケットを受信して、前記対向装置による前記データパケットの受信を確認する第2の処理部と、を備えたことを特徴とする伝送装置。 - パケットを用いてデータの伝送を行うデータ転送装置において、
データパケットのコピーを作成した上で、対向装置に前記データパケットを伝送する手段と、
前記対向装置からの肯定応答を受信する手段と、
前記肯定応答の受信に応じ、前記データパケットを用いて、前記対向装置による前記データパケットの受信を示す擬似応答パケットを生成する手段と、を備えたことを特徴とする伝送装置。
