ビデオデータの圧縮処理方式としては、MPEG(Motion Picture Experts Group)方式やモーションJPEG(Joint Photographics Coding Group)方式が知られている。

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an image information display apparatus and method suitable for use in a television receiver that continuously records a received program on a recording medium.
[0002]
[Prior art]
While enjoying a television broadcast, it is often the case that a telephone call suddenly rings or a visitor misses the broadcast program. If a television broadcast program is missed, it cannot be viewed again, except for a rebroadcast program. Programs that are rebroadcast in a short period of time are rare, and news programs and sports programs are not rebroadcast in most cases. Therefore, in many cases, if a television broadcast program is missed, the program cannot be viewed again.
[0003]
In addition, scenes that are desired to be saved while watching broadcast programs such as famous scenes of movies and dramas, interviews with important persons, highlight scenes of sports programs, etc. may suddenly start. In such a case, even if the VTR is set immediately, the scene is often not in time and the scene cannot be recorded.
[0004]
Therefore, the present inventor has proposed a television receiver that records a program on a recording medium continuously while watching a broadcast program. In such a television receiver, even if there is a sudden telephone call or visitor, the program can be played back retroactively, so that the program is not missed. In addition, the program can be easily saved, and it is possible to cope with a sudden start of a program to be recorded.
[0005]
Further, the inventor of the present application proposes to use a hard disk drive as a recording medium in a television receiver that continuously records a program on a recording medium. Conventionally, a magnetic tape has been widely used as a recording medium for recording a video signal. However, the magnetic tape has a low access speed and is difficult to use as a recording medium used in such a television receiver. Although semiconductor memory can be used, large-capacity semiconductor memory is very expensive, and the stored program disappears when the power is turned off. It is not suitable for cases where In contrast, a hard disk drive has a large capacity and a sufficiently high access speed.
[0006]
In such a television receiver in which a program is continuously recorded on a recording medium, when a hard disk drive is used as the recording medium, the hard disk drive has a large capacity, so that the program can be stored for a long time. Furthermore, if a video signal is compressed and recorded using a high-efficiency code, recording for a longer time becomes possible.
[0007]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, if the recording time of the program becomes long, it becomes difficult for the user to search for a desired scene. For example, if a hard disk drive having a capacity of about 1 Gbyte is used and a video signal is recorded by compression with motion JPEG, a recording time of about 60 minutes can be secured. However, it is not easy to search for a desired scene from such a long recording screen and reproduce it.
[0008]
In view of this, an image that has been distinguished as an index image is recorded in advance, the index image is read out according to a predetermined procedure, and a search is performed. A method, a method of simply dividing a recording time every predetermined time, and using a representative image for each time zone as an index, etc. can be considered.
[0009]
However, in the method of recording an image that has been distinguished as an index image in advance, and performing a search by reading out the index image according to a predetermined procedure, it is necessary to record a predetermined index image, and the contents recorded on the reception screen are Not applicable when searching. In addition, the method of detecting scene changes on the playback screen and using the place where the scene change occurred as an index requires a correlation detection circuit and a motion detection circuit to detect the scene change, increasing the circuit scale and cost. Invite. In addition, the method of simply dividing the recording time every predetermined time and using a representative image for each time period as an index does not necessarily become a meaningful image that can identify the position of the search image. An efficient search is not possible.
[0010]
In addition, as described above, when the reception screen is recorded on the hard disk drive, since the video data is compressed and recorded, it is difficult to form an index image by simply dividing the recording time every predetermined time. .
[0011]
That is, when the reception screen is recorded in the hard disk drive device in this way, the video data is compressed in order to improve the recording time. As a compression processing method of video data, an MPEG (Motion Picture Experts Group) method and a motion JPEG (Joint Photographics Coding Group) method are known. Although the MPEG method has high compression efficiency, since compression in the time axis direction is performed, it becomes difficult to perform search and variable speed reproduction in field units. Therefore, when recording the reception screen on the hard disk in this way, it is conceivable to compress the video data by the motion JPEG method.
[0012]
However, in the motion JPEG method, the screen compression rate varies depending on the picture or the like. For this reason, when video data is compressed by motion JPEG and recorded on the hard disk drive, the correspondence between the address of the hard disk drive and the recording time cannot be obtained. For this reason, it is not possible to simply obtain the recording time from the address of the hard disk drive, and it is difficult to display the recording time by dividing it into predetermined time intervals.
[0013]
Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to provide an image information display apparatus and method that can easily search for a desired scene or program from a recording screen and that does not increase the circuit scale or increase the cost. .
[0014]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The present invention divides the moving image information recorded on the recording medium at the first divided time, the recording medium on which the moving image information is recorded, the divided time setting means for setting the first divided time at predetermined intervals , respectively. And dividing the screen area of the display means into a plurality of small screen areas, and indexing the video information divided at the first division time in correspondence with each of the divided small screen areas. Display control means for controlling to display elapsed time in each screen while displaying as an image, input means for designating a desired index image from among index images displayed in a plurality of small screen areas, and an index to update the images, and a offset time setting means for setting the offset time, the display control means, when the index image is designated by the input means, designated The video information corresponding to the index image displayed is read from the recording medium, when updating the displayed index images, dividing means, the second split time obtained by adding the offset time to the predetermined interval, the recording medium Each of the recorded moving image information is divided, and the display control means displays the newly divided moving image information as an index image .
[0016]
The present invention records the video information on a recording medium, a division time setting step of setting a first division time of the predetermined interval, the first split time, the video information recorded on the recording medium each division And dividing the screen area of the display means into a plurality of small screen areas, and indexing the moving picture information divided at the first division time in correspondence with each of the divided small screen areas. A display control step for controlling to display elapsed time in each screen while displaying as an image, an input step for designating a desired index image from among index images displayed in a plurality of small screen areas, and an index When an image is specified, it reads the video information corresponding to the designated index image from the recording medium, and a display step of displaying, is displayed ind When updating a video image, an offset time is set, and in the division step, the moving image information recorded on the recording medium is divided and displayed at a second division time obtained by adding the offset time to a predetermined interval. In the control step, the image information display method is characterized in that the newly divided moving image information is displayed as an index image .
[0018]
When the overview search key is pressed, the display screen is divided into a plurality of small screens, and an image of video data recorded on the hard disk drive every predetermined time is divided and displayed on each divided screen. Further, when the overview search key is pressed, the time of each screen is offset every predetermined time. Therefore, a desired reproduction start position can be easily searched from these index screens.

Conversion of the number of fields can be easily calculated because it can be defined by how many seconds of one recorded field corresponds to real time. For example, in the case of reproduction by dropping a frame of 1/4 field, the image data for one field corresponds to about 0.25 seconds.
