【発明の属する技術分野】
本発明は、歯ブラシに関し、更に詳しくは、ハンドル部に熱可塑性エラストマーからなる滑止部が設けられた歯ブラシに関する。

【従来の技術】
通常、歯ブラシのハンドル部は熱可塑性樹脂から構成されているが、その機能面では、握ったときに滑り易いという問題がある。このため、ハンドル部に合成ゴムや熱可塑性エラストマーからなる滑止部を設けて、握ったときの滑りを防止して操作性を向上させた歯ブラシが種々提案され実用化されている。例えば、本出願人による特開平7−327737号公報では、ハンドル部の首部側の先端近傍部に表側滑止部及び裏側滑止部を設け、首部とは反対側の基端近傍部にハンドル部の全外周にわたって連なる環状滑止部を設けた歯ブラシを開示している。また、特開2000−4944には、首部と握り部との境界付近と尾端側にハンドルの全外周にわたって連なる熱可塑性エラストマ材料の被覆部をハンドルに沿って備えた歯ブラシが提案されている。これら滑止部を設けたハンドル部は、一般的にはポリプロピレンとポリオレフィン系熱可塑性エラストマーから構成されている。

また、歯ブラシのハンドル部として、その意匠性の観点から、透明な熱可塑性樹脂からなるものが種々提案され実用化されている。しかし、このようにハンドル部を透明な熱可塑性樹脂から構成した場合、前記のように合成ゴムや熱可塑性エラストマーからなる滑止部をハンドル部の表側または裏側、更にはハンドル部の全外周にわたって設けると、合成ゴムや熱可塑性エラストマーは一般に着色不透明であるため、透明なハンドル部の表面が不透明な滑止部により被覆されてしまい、ハンドル部の表裏における透明部の面積が減少する。歯ブラシのハンドル部の意匠性は、その表裏面の外観によるところが大きく、前記のようにハンドルの表裏面が不透明な滑止部で被覆されては、せっかく透明な熱可塑性樹脂から構成したハンドル部の意匠性が損なわれてしまうという問題がある。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
本発明は上記のような歯ブラシのハンドル部における機能性と意匠性との両観点から、ハンドル部を透明な熱可塑性樹脂にて構成することで意匠性に優れた歯ブラシとするとともに、その意匠性を充分に生かしたまま滑止部を設けて操作性を向上させ、意匠性と機能性とを両立させた歯ブラシを提供することを目的とするものである。

【課題を解決するための手段】
本発明に係る歯ブラシは、植毛部と、該植毛部のある頭部と首部とハンドル部とを有する歯ブラシであって、前記ハンドル部を透明な飽和ポリエステル系樹脂からなるハンドル基台とポリエステル系熱可塑性エラストマーからなるゴム部とで構成してなり、ハンドル基台の長さ方向に連続した凸条を有する幅方向両側端面に、ゴム硬度が55〜95(JIS K6253、タイプA)の範囲であるポリエステル系熱可塑性エラストマーを被覆して、ハンドル部の幅方向両側に、ほぼ全長にわたって、その長手方向に伸びる帯状の滑止部を、ハンドル部両側の滑止部が互いに連結された状態で設けたものである。

上記のように、本発明に係る歯ブラシは、ハンドル基台を透明な熱可塑性樹脂で構成するとともに、このハンドル基台の幅方向両側端面に熱可塑性エラストマーを被覆することにより、滑止部を、ハンドル部の幅方向の両側に、ハンドル部の長手方向にそって伸びる帯状に設けた。ここで、前記ハンドル部の幅方向両側とは、歯ブラシを表側(植毛面側)から見たハンドル部の幅方向両側のことである。このように、ハンドル部の幅方向の側面に帯状に滑止部を設けることで、ハンドル部の表面が熱可塑性エラストマーからなる滑止部により覆われる面積を極力狭くすることができ、ハンドル部における透明部の面積が広く意匠性に優れた歯ブラシとすることができる。また、滑止部をハンドル部の長手方向に伸びる帯状に設けることで、滑止部をハンドル部の広い範囲に設けることができ、充分な操作性向上効果が得られる。しかし、歯ブラシのハンドル部の側面は、表側や裏側の表面に較べて使用時にハンドル部を手で握ったときに力がかかり易い部分であるため、前記のように熱可塑性樹脂からなるハンドル基台に対してハンドル部の側面に熱可塑性エラストマーにより帯状に滑止部を設けた場合、従来の歯ブラシのように、ハンドル部における、ほぼ平坦な表裏表面や表裏全外周にわたって連なる状態で滑止部を設ける場合に較べて接着面積が少ないので熱可塑性エラストマーが剥がれ易いという問題がある。そこで、本発明では、前記ハンドル部の幅方向両側に帯状に設けた滑止部を剥がれ難いものとするために、ハンドル基台を構成する透明な熱可塑性樹脂として飽和ポリエステル系樹脂を採用するとともに、前記滑止部を構成する熱可塑性エラストマーとして、ゴム硬度が55〜95(JIS K6253、タイプA)の範囲であるポリエステル系熱可塑性エラストマー(以下、ポリエステル系TPEと略記する)を採用することで、飽和ポリエステル系樹脂とポリエステル系TPEとの融着強度を充分に確保した。更に、ハンドル基台の両側端面がハンドル基台の長さ方向に連続した凸条を有するので、前記飽和ポリエステル系樹脂からなるハンドル基台と前記ポリエステル系TPEからなる滑止部との接触面積が増大して両者の固着強度を大きくすることができる。前記飽和ポリエステル系樹脂としては、ポリエチレンテレフタレート(PET)が最も好ましい。前記ポリエステル系TPEのゴム硬度が55未満では、ハンドル基台を構成する飽和ポリエステル系樹脂との融着強度が弱く、しかもポリエステル系TPE自体の強度も低いため、滑止部をハンドル部の側面に帯状に設けた場合には、滑止部が剥がれ易くなる。また、滑止部のベタつき感が強く、汚れも付着しやすく不潔になり易い。更に、滑止部のクリープ性が劣り、押さえた後に復元し難くなる。一方、ポリエステル系TPEのゴム硬度が95を越えると飽和ポリエステル系樹脂との融着強度には問題はないがエラストマーとしてのゴム弾力の感触が得られず、滑止部としての機能が低下する。

更に、前記滑止部は、ハンドル部の、ほぼ全長にわたって、その幅方向両側に設けることにより、ハンドル部を手で握った場合に広い範囲で滑止部が手指と接し、どのような握り方をした場合にも滑り止め効果が発揮されるので、より操作性のよい歯ブラシとすることができる。

また、ハンドル部のゴム部は、ハンドル部両側の滑止部が互いに連結された状態で設けることが好ましい。これにより、ハンドル部の両側に設けたポリエステル系TPEからなる滑止部が一体化されて、より一層剥がれ難くなる。更に、本発明の歯ブラシは、頭部と首部とハンドル基台とからなる樹脂基材を飽和ポリエステル系樹脂により射出成形したのち、ハンドル基台を別の金型にセットしてポリエステル系TPEを射出成形してゴム部を成形する多色成形によりハンドル部が成形されるが、前記のようにハンドル部両側の滑止部が連結された状態でゴム部を設ければ、金型内へのポリエステル系TPEの注入口が一箇所ですみ、成形金型、成形装置及び成形工程が簡略化される。

更に前記の場合に、ハンドル部両側の滑止部がハンドル部の首部側及び首部と反対のハンドル部の尾端側で連結された状態でゴム部を設けてハンドル部の周囲をゴム部で囲むようにしたものでは、ハンドル基台への滑止部などのゴム部の固着強度をより大きなものとすることができる。

また、前記ポリエステル系TPEからなるゴム部は、歯ブラシの表側から見たハンドル部の面積のうち、ゴム部によって囲まれた面積に占める透明部分、即ちハンドル基台の面積が50%以上、好ましくは60%以上となるように設けることが好ましい。透明部分の面積が前記の範囲であれば、歯ブラシを表側から見たハンドル部における透明部分が大きく、意匠性に優れた歯ブラシとすることができる。また、歯ブラシを表側から見たハンドル部両側の帯状滑止部の厚さ、即ちハンドル部の幅方向両側端部からハンドル部表面の透明部分までの距離を、好ましくは3mm程度以下とすることで、歯ブラシを表側から見たハンドル部における透明部分の面積が広く、意匠性に優れた歯ブラシとなる。

更に、上記歯ブラシにおいては、特に限定するものではないが、ハンドル部に設けたゴム部が、ハンドル部の表側と裏側に、ほぼ同一形状に表れるように設けることが好ましい。これにより、裏側のゴム部に遮られることなく表側の透明部分の、ほぼ全面がハンドル部の裏側まで透き通って見え、意匠性に優れたものとなる。

【発明の実施の形態】
本発明の歯ブラシは、頭部と首部とハンドル基台とからなる樹脂基材を透明な飽和ポリエステル系樹脂から射出成形により成形し、ハンドル基台を別の金型にセットしてポリエステル系TPEを金型内に射出成形する多色成形によりゴム部を成形して歯ブラシ本体を得、この歯ブラシ本体の頭部に合成樹脂フィラメントを植設して植毛部を設けることで製造される。

前記樹脂基材を構成する飽和ポリエステル系樹脂としては、透明なものであれば特に限定はなく、また透明であれば着色されたものであってもよい。透明な飽和ポリエステル系樹脂としては、PET(ポリエチレンレテフタレート)、PEN(ポリエチレンナフタレート)、PTT(ポリトリメチルテレフタレート)などが挙げられるが、これらの中でもPETが最も好ましい。このPETとしては、例えば三菱レイヨン(株)の商品名「ダイヤナイト」KR265、KR461S、KR465S、ユニチカ(株)の商品名「ユニチカポリエステル樹脂」SA−1206、MA−1344、三井化学(株)の商品名「三井PET」J005、三井デュポンケミカル(株)の商品名「シーラPT」8166、7451、イーストマンケミカルジャパン(株)の商品名「イースター」DN004、GN007、6763などが挙げられる。また、ゴム部を構成するポリエステル系TPEとしては、成形後のゴム硬度(JIS K6253、タイプAで測定)が、55〜95の範囲であるものを用いることで、飽和ポリエステル系樹脂との充分な融着強度を確保できるとともにエラストマー自体の強度も大きく、ハンドル部両側の帯状滑止部などのゴム部が容易に剥離することがない。このようなポリエステル系TPEの例としては、東レデュポン(株)の商品名「ハイトレル」3046、3548L、4047、4057、SB654、SB704、SB754、4001T−X03、東洋紡績(株)の商品名「ヘルプレン」P−30B、P−40B、P−40H、P−55B、P−70B、東ソー(株)の商品名「エラステージ」ED−1023H、ED−1101W、ED−1230E、ED−1615U、ED−1920N、ES−5000A、積水化学工業(株)の商品名「S−TPE」A60、三菱化学(株)の商品名「プリマロイ」A1500、A1700、A1800、A1900などが挙げられる。これらのポリエステル系TPEは、有機又は無機の顔料を添加して適宜着色してゴム部の成形に使用される。このようにポリエステル系TPEに着色を施すことで、飽和ポリエステル系樹脂からなる透明部分と着色されたポリエステル系TPEからなる着色ゴム部とのコントラストにより、ハンドル部が意匠性に優れたものとなる。

前記ハンドル基台を含む樹脂基材及びゴム部を飽和ポリエステル系樹脂及びポリエステル系TPEにより射出成形する場合の成形機としては、公知の射出成形機を用いることができる。また、成形条件も通常条件でよく、例えば飽和ポリエステル系樹脂からの樹脂基材の成形は金型温度が15〜50℃、成形温度200〜250℃程度、またポリエステル系TPEからのゴム部の成形は、金型温度が20〜40℃、シリンダー温度が160〜230℃程度で、使用する飽和ポリエステル系樹脂及びポリエステル系TPEの種類に応じて最適な条件を選択すればよい。

前記ハンドル部の幅方向両側にポリエステル系TPEで設けられる帯状滑止部は、必ずしもハンドル部の全長にわたって設ける必要はなく、ハンドル部における首部側及び首部とは反対の尾端部側を除いて長さ方向の中央部のみに設けてもよいし、首部側と尾端側とに分離して設けてもよいし、さらにはハンドル部の長手方向に断続的に設けてもが、少なくともハンドル部の全長の50%以上に滑止部を設けることが好ましく、滑止部をハンドル部の全長にわたって設ければ、パームグリップ、ペングリップなど、どのような握り方をした場合でも確実な滑り止め効果が得られ、歯ブラシの操作性が向上することからより好ましい。また、前記ハンドル基台の両側端面の帯状の滑止部は、歯ブラシを表側から見たとき飽和ポリエステル系樹脂からなる透明なハンドル基台の表面に被らないように設けることで、ハンドル部の表面に表れる透明部分の面積が大きくなり、意匠性の優れたものとなる。また滑止部がハンドル基台の表面に少し被るように設けた場合には、ハンドル基台表面の飽和ポリエステル系樹脂が隠れて透明部分の面積は多少減少するが、この場合には、ハンドル基台に対する滑止部(ゴム部)の固着強度が大きくなる。また、ハンドル基台の両側端面に外側に向けて凸部を設けておけば、飽和ポリエステル系樹脂からなるハンドル基台とポリエステル系TPEからなる滑止部(ゴム部)との接触面積が増大して両者の固着強度を大きくすることができ、また、飽和ポリエステル系樹脂に較べて高価なポリエステル系TPEの使用量を前記凸部の分だけ減らすことで歯ブラシの製造コストを下げることができる。前記ハンドル基台の両側端面に凸部を設ける場合は、滑止部の長さに応じて適宜設ければよく、長さ方向に連続した凸条であってもよいし、長さ方向に断続的に設けてもよい。また、前記凸部は、ハンドル基台の側端面における厚み方向(ハンドル部の表裏方向)の、ほぼ中央部に設けることが好ましいが、厚み方向に複数設けてもよい。また、ハンドル基台の側端面を凹凸形成することで、飽和ポリエステル系樹脂とポリエステル系TPEとの接触面積を増大させるようにしてもよい。

前記ハンドル部両側に設ける滑止部は、ハンドル部の左右両側に互いに独立した状態で設けてもよいが、両側の滑止部が連結された状態でゴム部を設けておけば、歯ブラシ製造時に射出成形によりハンドル部を成形する場合の、金型へのポリエステル系TPEの注入口を1箇所のみとすることができ、成形金型や成形装置、成形工程を簡略化することができる。ハンドル部両側の滑止部が連結された状態でゴム部を設ける場合は、ハンドル部における首部側で連結させてもよいし、首部と反対の尾端側で連結させてもよい。両側の滑止部が互いに連結した状態でゴム部を設ける場合には、ハンドル部の表側(植毛面側)、裏側(植毛面と反対側)のいずれで連結させてもよく、また表裏両側で連結させてもよい。更に、飽和ポリエステル系樹脂からなるハンドル基台に、その幅方向両側に貫通する連通孔を設けてハンドル基台を貫通して連結させてもよい。また、両側の滑止部がハンドル部の尾端側で連結した状態にゴム部を設ける場合には、ハンドル基台の両側端面から連続して尾端側端面をもポリエステル系TPEで被覆することで両側の滑止部を連結させるようにしてもよい。この場合、ハンドル基台の尾端側端面に凸部を設けておけば、飽和ポリエステル系樹脂からなるハンドル基台とポリエステル系TPEからなるゴム部との接触面積が増大することで両者の固着強度をより大きなものとすることができ、また、飽和ポリエステル系樹脂に較べて高価なポリエステル系TPEの使用量を前記凸部の分だけ減らすことで歯ブラシの製造コストを下げることができる。

更に、前記ハンドル部両側の滑止部がハンドル部の首部側及び首部と反対側の尾端側で連結された状態でゴム部を設けてハンドル部の周囲をゴム部で囲んだ場合には、飽和ポリエステル系樹脂からなるハンドル基台の外周縁にポリエステル系TPEからなるゴム部が外嵌された状態となり、ハンドル基台とゴム部との固着強度がより大きなものとなる。この場合、ハンドル部の首部側では、ハンドル基台の表裏両面で両側の滑止部を連結させるとともに、首部と反対の尾端側ではハンドル基台の外側端面を両側端面から連続してポリエステル系TPEで被覆して連結させることで、ハンドル基台に対してゴム部を強固に固着させることができる。

本発明の歯ブラシでは、前記ポリエステル系TPEからなるゴム部は、歯ブラシを表側から見たハンドル部の面積のうち、ゴム部によって囲まれた面積に占める透明部分の面積が50%以上、好ましくは60%以上となるように設けることが好ましい。透明部分の面積が前記の範囲であれば、歯ブラシ表側から見たハンドル部における透明部分が大きく、意匠性に優れた歯ブラシとすることができる。前記歯ブラシを表側から見たハンドル部の面積とは、歯ブラシを植毛面側から見た平面図におけるハンドル部の面積である。また、ゴム部によって囲まれた面積とは、例えば図8(a)に示すように、前記平面図においてゴム部9が透明なハンドル基台7を取り囲むように表れる場合は該ゴム部9の外形線によって切り取られる平面形状の面積をいい、また、例えば図8(b)〜(d)に示すように、ゴム部9がハンドル部5における首部6側またはハンドル部5の尾端側で連結されていない場合には、ハンドル部5におけるゴム部9の首部側端部E1とハンドル部5の尾端側端部E2においてハンドル部5の長手方向と直交する直線L1、L2とゴム部9の外形線とで切り取られる平面形状の面積をいう。

また、上記ゴム部をハンドル部の表側と裏側とに、ほぼ同一形状に表れるように設けることで、裏側のゴム部に遮られることなく表側の透明部分の、ほぼ全面がハンドル部の裏側まで透き通って見え、意匠性に優れたものとなる。前記ハンドル部の表側に表れるゴム部の形状とは歯ブラシを植毛面側から見た平面図におけるゴム部の形状のことをいい、ハンドル部の裏側に表れるゴム部の形状とは、植毛面と反対側から見た平面図におけるゴム部の形状のことをいう。なお、本発明の歯ブラシにおいては、本発明の目的を損なわない範囲で、ハンドル部表裏の指当部などにポリエステル系TPEにより滑止部を設けてもよいが、この場合にも、ハンドル部の表裏の、ほぼ同じ位置に滑止部を設けることで、透明なハンドル基台による意匠性を極力阻害しないようにすることが好ましい。

【実施例】
本発明の実施例を図1〜7に基づき説明する。歯ブラシ1は、植毛部2と、歯ブラシ本体3とからなり、前記歯ブラシ本体3は、植毛部2のある頭部4とハンドル部5と、前記頭部4とハンドル部5とを連結する細長い首部6とを有する。歯ブラシ本体3は、透明な飽和ポリエステル系樹脂から一体成形された頭部4、首部6及びハンドル基台7からなる樹脂基材8と、着色されたポリエステル系TPEにより前記樹脂基材8のハンドル基台7に一体的に形成されたゴム部9とからなり、ハンドル部5がハンドル基台7とゴム部9とから構成されている。

本実施例では、前記頭部4、首部6及びハンドル基台7からなるからなる樹脂基材8を、透明なPETにより、射出成形機を用いて射出成形したのち、ハンドル基台7を別の金型にセットし、ポリエステル系TPE(JIS K6253のタイプAで測定したゴム硬度82)を、金型内に注入して充填、固化させることで、透明なPETからなるハンドル基台7とポリエステル系TPEからなるゴム部9とからなる歯ブラシ1のハンドル部5を構成した。

前記歯ブラシ本体3の頭部4は、平坦状で先細りの卵型に形成され、その表側には多数の植毛穴10を設けてあり、植毛穴10に合成樹脂フィメントを植設することで植毛部2を構成してある。前記頭部4とハンドル部5とを連結する細長い首部6は、断面形状が、ほぼ円形又は楕円形で、頭部4側が植毛部2を設けた表側(植毛面側)に持ち上がるように緩やかに湾曲形成してある。

また、樹脂基材8のハンドル基台7は、首部6との境界部近傍の表側に指当て用の盛上部11を形成し、この盛上部11の首部側には、表側から裏側にかけてハンドル部5の尾端側に傾斜してのびる環状溝12をハンドル基台7の全外周にわたって設けるとともに、盛上部11の尾端側のハンドル基台7の表面には、首部6側から順に大、中、小の3つの円が連なった形状の表面凹部13を形成し、ハンドル基台7の裏側にも前記表面凹部13と、ほぼ同じ位置に、ほぼ同じ形状の裏面凹部14を形成し、これら表面凹部13と裏面凹部14とを、それらの尾端側に設けた表裏貫通孔15で連通連結させ、裏面凹部14は、その首部側を前記環状溝12に連通溝16により連通連結させてある。また、ハンドル基台7の両側面は、その厚さ方向には、ほぼ直線状に形成するとともに、平面形状は、首部側においては、環状溝12から連続して表裏面凹部13、14の形状に応じて湾曲形成し、これに続く尾端側は中間部分がやや狭まった緩やかな湾曲状に形成するとともに、前記幅狭部分の両側端面には、ハンドル基台7の長手方向に伸びる凸条17、17をハンドル基台7の厚さ方向の、ほぼ中間位置に形成し、またハンドル基台7の尾端部は円弧状に形成するとともに、尾端側端面には、ハンドル基台7の厚さ方向の、ほぼ中間位置に凸部18を形成してある。また、ハンドル基台7の尾端近傍には歯ブラシ1をフックなどに掛けるための貫通孔19を設けてある。なお、ハンドル基台7と首部6との境界付近の裏面に形成された三角形状の突出部20は、ハンドル部5をその長手方向の途中部を表側へ突出した湾曲状に形成することと相まって、歯ブラシ1を水平なテーブル上に置いた状態で、ゴム部9がテーブルの上面に接触しないようにするものである。
