本発明は、ビデオ信号混合方法、ビデオ信号混合装置及びビデオ表示装置に関する。特に、本発明は、異なる複数の集積回路からの入力ビデオ信号を、所定の比率で混合して、出力ビデオ信号を生成するビデオ信号混合装置等に関する。

【従来の技術】
図6に示すように、混合回路10は、2つの入力信号I1、I2を所定の比率で混合して、出力信号OUTを生成する。2つの入力信号I 1 、I 2 の混合は、入力信号I 1 、I 2 の比率を定める制御信号CONTによって制御される。すなわち、入力信号I1、I2が混合回路10に入力される。2つの入力信号I1、I2の混合率を制御するための制御信号CONTも、混合回路10に入力される。混合回路10は、制御信号CONTによって特定される所定の比率で2つの入力信号I1、I2を混合して、入力信号I1、I2が混合された出力信号OUTを出力する。このようにして、混合回路10は、2つの入力信号I1、I2を混合して、1つの出力信号OUTを出力する。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
2つの入力信号I1、I2の一方又は両方が、別の集積回路から混合回路10に供給されるときには、出力信号OUTに誤差を生じ、あるいは出力信号OUTを歪ませるノイズが出力信号OUTに入る。このノイズが発生する理由は、入力信号I1、I2が別々の集積回路から供給されて混合されるときには、入力信号I1、I2の各レベルがそれぞれ異なるアース電位を基準にしているからである。混合回路10は、独自の基準となるアース電位(以下、グランド信号という。)を有している。入力信号I1、I2の各々に対応するグランド信号は、混合回路10のグランド信号とは異なることがある。したがって、入力信号I1、I2の各レベルは、それら自身のグランド信号に対しては適正であるが、混合回路10のグランド信号に対しては誤差を生じることがある。したがって、入力信号I1、I2が混合回路10によって混合され、出力信号OUTが生成されるときには、各入力信号I 1 、I 2 のグランド信号が異なることにより、出力信号OUTにノイズ又は歪みが生じる。このノイズ又は歪みは、出力信号OUTの信号品質を低下させる。

【発明の実施の形態】
以下、本発明に係るビデオ信号混合装置の実施の形態について、図面を参照しながら説明する。なお、以下の実施の形態では、本発明は、ビデオ表示装置における混合回路に適用されている。

入力端子20を介して入力されるアナログフォーマットの(以下、単にアナログという。)コンポジットビデオ信号は、アナログ復調器22に供給される。アナログ復調器22の出力は、アナログコンポジットビデオ信号CVInRとして、ビデオ/グラフィックスオーバレイ集積回路40に供給される。入力端子24を介して入力されるディジタルフォーマットの(以下、単にディジタルという。)ビデオ信号は、ディジタル復調器26に入力される。ディジタル復調器26の出力は、ディジタルオーバレイ制御回路28に供給される。ディジタルオーバレイ制御回路28からのビデオ/グラフィックスデータは、ディジタルエンコーダ集積回路30に供給される。ディジタルオーバレイ制御回路28からの混合制御信号MIXCONTは、ビデオ/グラフィックスオーバレイ集積回路40に供給される。電圧制御発振器(以下、VCXOという。)32は、システムクロック信号をディジタルオーバレイ制御回路28及びディジタルエンコーダ集積回路30に供給する。このVCXO32は、ビデオ/グラフィックスオーバレイ集積回路40からの制御信号VCXOCONTによって制御される。ディジタルエンコーダ集積回路30は、ディジタルオーバレイ制御回路28から供給されるビデオ/グラフィックスデータをエンコードして、アナログコンポジットビデオ信号CVInd、あるいは輝度信号Y及び色差信号C(S−ビデオ信号)に変換する。そして、ディジタルエンコーダ集積回路30は、アナログコンポジットビデオ信号CVInd、あるいは色差信号C及び輝度信号Yを、ビデオ/グラフィックスオーバレイ集積回路40に供給する。ビデオ/グラフィックスオーバレイ集積回路40は、制御信号VReset、水平リセット信号HReset、位相制御信号VPWMをディジタルエンコーダ集積回路30に供給する。なお、ディジタルエンコーダ集積回路30及びビデオ/グラフィックスオーバレイ集積回路40は、それぞれ別の集積回路から構成されている。

ここで、出力コンポジットビデオ信号CVoutの歪みを防止し、モニタ受像機等に表示されるビデオグラフィックスの色が適正となるようにするためには、ディジタル信号として入力されたアナログコンポジット(以下、単にディジタル入力ともいう。)ビデオ信号CVIndの位相と、元々アナログ信号として入力されたアナログコンポジット(以下、単に、アナログ入力ともいう。)ビデオ信号CVInRの位相とを合わせなければならない。したがって、本発明を適用したビデオ表示装置では、後で説明するように、ディジタル入力ビデオ信号CVIndのバースト信号の周波数及び位相を、アナログ入力ビデオ信号CVInRのバースト信号の周波数及び位相にロックするために、ビデオ/グラフィックスオーバレイ集積回路40とディジタルエンコーダ集積回路30の両方に、位相補正回路を使用している。

上述したように、純粋なアナログビデオ信号だけが、ビデオ/グラフィックスオーバレイ集積回路40から出力されるときは、アナログ入力ビデオ信号CVInRは、ビデオ/グラフィックスオーバレイ集積回路40を通過し、すなわちいかなる混合やエンコードもされずに、コンポジットビデオ信号CVoutとして出力される。一方、純粋なディジタル信号、純粋なグラフィックス信号、又はディジタル信号とグラフィックス信号の混合信号が、ビデオ/グラフィックスオーバレイ集積回路40から出力されるときは、ディジタルエンコーダ集積回路30から供給されるディジタル入力ビデオ信号CVIndは、ビデオ/グラフィックスオーバレイ集積回路40を通過し、すなわち他の信号と混合されることなく、コンポジットビデオ信号CVoutとして出力される。また、出力コンポジットビデオ信号CVoutが、混合制御信号MIXCONTによってアナログ入力ビデオ信号CVInR及びディジタル入力ビデオ信号CVIndの所定の一部を含むときは、アナログ入力ビデオ信号CVInRとディジタル入力ビデオ信号CVIndは、ビデオ/グラフィックスオーバレイ集積回路40において合成又は混合され、コンポジットビデオ信号CVoutとして出力される。

表1に示すように、混合制御信号M0、M1の両方が、論理的にロー(L)レベルのときは、出力コンポジットビデオ信号CVoutは、α倍のアナログ入力ビデオ信号CVInRと、(1−α)倍のディジタル入力ビデオ信号CVIndとを加算したものである。混合制御信号M0が論理的にハイ(H)レベルで、混合制御信号M1が論理的にローレベルのときは、出力コンポジットビデオ信号CVoutは、アナログ入力ビデオ信号CVInRだけからなる。混合制御信号M0が論理的にローレベルで、混合制御信号M1が論理的にハイレベルのときは、出力コンポジットビデオ信号CVoutは、ディジタル入力ビデオ信号CVIndだけからなる。

図1に示すアナログ復調器22からのアナログ入力ビデオ信号CVInRは、バッファ/クランピング回路46内の抵抗器R1の第1の端子に入力される。抵抗器R1の第2の端子は、抵抗器R2の第1の端子に接続されているとともに、トランスコンダクタンス増幅器60の反転入力端子に接続されている。抵抗器R2の第2の端子は、混合回路44のアースに接続されており、すなわち、この第2の端子には、混合回路44のアース電位を示すグランド信号Vrefが供給されている。図1に示すディジタルエンコーダ集積回路30からのディジタル入力ビデオ信号CVIndは、バッファ/クランピング回路48内の抵抗器R5の第1の端子に入力される。抵抗器R5の第2の端子は、抵抗器R6の第1の端子に接続されているとともに、トランスコンダクタンス増幅器62の反転入力端子に接続されている。抵抗器R6の第2の端子は、混合回路44のアースに接続されており、すなわち、この第2の端子には、混合回路44のアース電位を示すグランド信号Vrefが供給されている。

トランスコンダクタンス増幅器60は、アナログ入力ビデオ信号CVInRを増幅し、得られる差動形式の差動信号を、混合回路44内のギルバートセル混合回路70を構成するnpnトランジスタ(以下、単に、トランジスタともいう。)Q1、Q2の各ベースに供給する。トランスコンダクタンス増幅器62は、ディジタル入力ビデオ信号CVIndを増幅し、得られる差動形式の差動信号を、ギルバートセル混合回路70を構成するnpnトランジスタQ3、Q4の各ベースに供給する。ギルバートセル混合回路70は、例えば2つの差動信号を混合する標準的なギルバートセルからなり、図2に示す混合制御回路42から供給される制御信号ContR、ContDによって特定される比率で、トランスコンダクタンス増幅器60、62からの各差動信号を混合し、差動信号を出力する。なお、トランジスタQ1、Q2は、差動増幅器を構成しており、トランジスタQ3、Q4も差動増幅器を構成している。

アナログ入力ビデオ信号CVInRは、対応するグランド信号CVInR Retに対しては正確であるが、混合回路44のグランド信号Vrefに対してはその正確さは保証されない。ディジタル入力ビデオ信号CVIndは、対応するグランド信号CVInd Retに対しては正確であるが、混合回路44のグランド信号Vrefに対してはその正確さは保証されない。これらの理由により、従来の装置では、コンポジットビデオ信号CVoutにノイズが発生していたが、本発明を適用した混合回路44では、ノイズの発生を防止するために、アナログ入力ビデオ信号CVInRとグランド信号CVInR Retの差分と、ディジタル入力ビデオ信号CVIndとグランド信号Ret CVInd Retの差分とを混合して、コンポジットビデオ出力信号CVoutを生成するようにしている。各入力コンポジットビデオ信号を、それぞれのグランド信号との差動信号として混合することにより、混合されるコンポジットビデオ信号のそれぞれのグランド信号の相違に起因するノイズを除去する。また、混合回路44は、制御信号ContR、ContDによって特定された比率で、アナログコンポジットビデオ信号CVInR、CVIndを混合する。混合された信号は、差動増幅器64及び出力ドライバ回路66を介し、コンポジットビデオ信号CVoutとして出力される。
