本発明は、カラーフィルタ及びこれを用いた電気光学装置の修復装置、修復方法、製造装置、製造方法に関する。特に、カラーフィルタの欠陥部分を修復するための技術的改良に関する。

【従来の技術】
カラーフィルタは例えば赤、緑、青の各色に着色された層を所定のパターンに配列してなる。これら着色層を形成する方法には、基板上にバンクで仕切られて形成された各画素にインクジェット方式で各色のインクを吐出する方法など種々のものがあるが、いずれの方法においても多数の着色パターンを欠陥無しに製造することは困難である。

そこで欠陥のあるカラーフィルタを修正することによって良品とする技術が提案されている。特開平11−271752号公報は、着色層のピンホールを検出し、検出されたピンホールに対してインクジェットヘッドを用いて当該着色層に対応する色の着色材料を吐出することによる修正方法を開示している。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかし、上記特開平11−271752号公報に記載の技術によれば、3色のリペア用インク及び3色それぞれのインクジェットヘッド等が必要である。このため、インク及びインクジェットヘッドのメンテナンスが煩雑であるとも考えられる。また、欠陥箇所に付与すべき色が赤、緑、青のいずれであるかを特定するためのシステムも必要である。

そこで、本発明は、簡単な講成で容易にカラーフィルタの欠陥部分を修復することのできるカラーフィルタ及び電気光学装置の修復装置、修復方法、製造装置、製造方法を提供することを目的とする。

【課題を解決するための手段】
上記課題を解決するため、本発明のカラーフィルタ修復装置は、透明基板上に着色層を予め定められたパターンにて配列することによって構成されるカラーフィルタを修復する装置であって、前記着色層の欠陥部分を検出する検出部と、検出された前記欠陥部分に対してインクジェットヘッドを用いて黒色材料を吐出する吐出部とを備えたことを特徴とする。

(3−1.バンク形成及び表面処理工程)
膜厚0.7mm、たて38cm、横30cmの無アルカリガラスからなる透明基板12の表面を、熱濃硫酸に過酸化水素水を1重量%添加した洗浄液で洗浄し、純水でリンスした後、エア乾燥を行って清浄表面を得る。この表面に、スパッタ法によりクロム膜を平均0.2μmの膜厚で形成し、金属層16’を得る(図3:S1)。
