【発明の属する技術分野】
本発明は、カメラ等における機能要素の携帯性を配慮した配置構成に係り、特に、電子カメラおよびその機能を組み込んだ携帯端末に好適なカメラおよび携帯端末装置に関するものである。

【従来の技術】
近年、ディジタルカメラ等と称され、被写体像を、例えばＣＣＤ（電荷結合素子）撮像素子等の固体撮像素子により撮像し、被写体の静止画像（スティル画像）または動画像（ムービー画像）の画像データを得て、フラッシュメモリ等を用いたＩＣ（集積回路）メモリ媒体またはフロッピーディスク等にディジタル的に記録するタイプの電子カメラが普及している。この種の電子カメラは、撮影後直ちに、内蔵の液晶ディスプレイ（ＬＣＤ）等で撮影内容を表示確認したり、パーソナルコンピュータ（ＰＣ）等により表示および加工編集したり、プリンタによりプリントしたりすることができる。このように、電子カメラは、銀塩フィルムを用いる在来のカメラ、すなわち銀塩カメラに比して、フィルム現像や印画紙への焼き付けなどの業者または熟練者による作業およびそのための設備が不要であるなどの簡便性に加え、画像処理による撮影結果の修正が容易であるなどという利点もある。さらに、電子カメラは、在来の銀塩カメラに比して、機能構成のレイアウトの自由度が高いことから、より斬新なデザインや他の装置への組み込みが容易である。

ところで、例えば、衣服のポケットやバッグへの収納に適する形状のカメラとして、例えば図９に正面被写体側から見た状態を示すような形態のものがある。図９に示すカメラは、ボディ１０１の上面の例えば図示左寄り、つまり、正面被写体側から見て左寄りにレリーズボタン１０２を設けており、このボディ１０１の前面側に撮影レンズ（図示せず）を覆うスライドカバー１０３が設けられている。スライドカバー１０３は、図示状態では、撮影レンズを覆っている収納状態であり、このスライドカバー１０３を図示左側にスライド移動させることにより撮影レンズが露出して撮影可能状態となる。ボディ１０１の図示右側の部分、すなわちスライドカバー１０３を図示のように閉じた状態で、スライドカバー１０３の図示右端縁にほぼ連続し、ボディ１０１の図示右端および上下縁にかけての前面カバー部１０１ａは、ほぼなだらかな傾斜面を形成している。
図９のカメラでは、スライドカバー１０３を閉じた状態では、カメラ全体として急峻な突出部がほとんどなく、特に前面側への最大突出部となるスライドカバー１０３の前面から端部にかけては、ボディ１０１に一体化された前面カバー部１０１ａによりなだらかな傾斜面を形成している。このため、衣服のポケットやバッグへの出し入れ時の引っかかりがほとんどなく、携帯性および機動性に優れ、撮影チャンスを逸することなく撮影することが可能となる。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
ところで、図９に示すような、撮影レンズ保護用のスライドカバー１０３からボディ１０１の端部にかけて、なだらかな面を形成しているため、携帯性および機動性に優れているが、このスライドカバー１０３により撮影レンズの前面側を含むボディ１０１の前面側の広い部分を覆っている。このため、カメラ全体の外形がひとまわり大きくなり、スライドカバー１０３およびその可動構成等によるコストの上昇は免れない。
本発明は、上述した事情に鑑みてなされたもので、携帯に適し且つ衣服のポケットやバッグ等への挿脱が容易で、しかも安価に構成することが可能なカメラおよび携帯端末装置を提供することを目的としている。
本発明の請求項１の目的は、特に、携帯時に、衣服のポケットやバッグ等への収納および取り出しがし易く、しかも構成が簡単であり、小型化が可能で且つ安価に製造することができるカメラを提供することにある。

【発明の実施の形態】
以下、実施の形態に基づき、図面を参照して本発明のカメラおよび携帯端末装置を詳細に説明する。
図１および図２は、本発明の第１の実施の形態に係るカメラの構成を示している。図１は、正面被写体側から見たカメラの斜視図、図２は、背面撮影者側から見た該カメラの斜視図である。
図１および図２に示すカメラは、電子カメラとして構成されており、ボディ１、撮影レンズ部２、カウリング部材３、ファインダ４、レリーズボタン５、操作ボタン部６、ＡＦ（オートフォーカス）測距窓７、ＡＥ（自動露出）測光窓８、ストロボ発光部９およびストラップ係止具１０を具備している。
ボディ１は、やや扁平な直方体形状をなし、各縁部および角部を曲面としている。詳細には、ボディ１の長手方向の一端、すなわち正面被写体側から見て左側の端部は、厚肉に且つ長手方向の他端、すなわち正面被写体側から見て右側の端部は、前記一端に比して薄肉として、全体としてなだらかに厚みが変化するほぼ楔形に形成している。このボディ１に、各構成要素が組み込まれあるいは収納されている。被写体を撮影するための撮影レンズ部２は、ボディ１の長手方向についての中央部近傍に収納され、ボディ１の前面から対物入射面側を適宜寸法突出させている。

撮影レンズ部２のボディ１からの突出部の前面には、対物入射面を保護するレンズバリア２ａが開閉自在に設けられている。このレンズバリア２ａの開閉は、例えば電源スイッチ（図示せず）に連動して駆動され、スイッチオンで開き、スイッチオフで閉じる。撮影レンズ部２のボディ１からの突出部の外周には、レンズ鏡胴２ｂを有し、撮影レンズ部２がズームレンズである場合には、このレンズ鏡胴２ｂをズーム操作リングとして構成しても良い。
カウリング部材３は、図３および図４に詳細を示すように、撮影レンズ部２のレンズ鏡胴２ｂの外周部の図１の右側ほぼ半周にわたって近接し、図示のようにほぼ半楕円状をなす周縁においてボディ１の前面に連接するカウリング部を形成する。カウリング部材３は、レンズ鏡胴２ｂの外周部に近接する部分（いわゆる近接部）においては、レンズ鏡胴２ｂとほぼ同等の突出寸法を有し、前記半楕円状の周縁に向かってなだらかに突出寸法を減じて、レンズ鏡胴２ｂ近傍からボディ１の前面に至るなだらかな傾斜曲面を形成する。すなわち、カウリング部材３は、レンズ鏡胴２ｂに近接する近接面のほぼ中央部近傍、つまり図１に示すボディ１の前面の上下方向のほぼ中間部、においてボディ１からの突出寸法が最も大きく、レンズ鏡胴２ｂの最大突出寸法にほぼ相当する。

この部分からカウリング部材３の突出寸法は、半楕円状、つまり放物線状、をなす周縁部に向かって漸減し滑らかな曲面を形成する。この滑らかな曲面に代えて、実質的に曲面と同等に作用する複数の平面を組み合わせた多面体形状を用いてもよい。カウリング部材３は、ボディ１とは別体に形成し、ボディ１の前面に、嵌め込み、ネジ留めまたは接着等により装着する。なお、カウリング部材３をボディ１と別体とせずに、ボディ１の該当部分をカウリング部として膨出形成して一体的に構成するようにしても良い。
ファインダ４は、いわゆるレンジファインダ方式の光学ファインダを構成する光学系からなり、対物面を図１における撮影レンズ部２の左上方に配置し、接眼部をボディ１の背面上部中央近傍に配置してボディ１に収容される。撮影操作のためのレリーズボタン５は、図１および図２に示すように、ボディ１の長手方向の前記一端近傍の上面に設けられる。このレリーズボタン５は、２段動作とし、１段目の操作で、オートフォーカス動作、つまり被写体距離の測距に基づくフォーカシング（ピント合わせ）動作、および自動露出動作、つまり被写体照度の測光に基づく露出制御動作、を行ない、２段目の操作で、被写体画像の撮影を行なうようにしてもよい。

操作ボタン６は、複数のボタンからなり、このカメラの各種モード設定、撮影操作、その他のための各種操作に用いる。ＡＦ測距窓７は、オートフォーカス動作のための被写体距離の測距のための投光および受光の少なくともいずれかの窓部である。ＡＥ測光窓８は、自動露出動作のための被写体照度の測光のための受光窓部である。これらＡＦ測距窓７およびＡＥ測光窓８は、ボディ１の前面の撮影レンズ部２の上方に設けられている。ストロボ発光部９は、被写体光量が不足する際などに被写体を照射するためのもので、図１におけるボディ１の前面の撮影レンズ２の右上方に設けられている。ストラップ係止具１０は、ボディ１の長手方向の前記一端側面のほぼ中央に設けられており、カメラ吊下用のストラップを係止させるために用いられる。
図１および図２のカメラは、ボディ１の形状が、右手で把持する側が厚肉に形成され、且つ左手で支える側が薄肉に形成され、全体として緩やかな傾斜の楔形を呈している。このような形状とすると、ボディ１の右手で把持する部分は厚肉であり、ある程度の容積が必要な電池室等を配設することができ、また銀塩フィルムカメラの場合には同様に容積が嵩むパトローネ室等を配設するのに適している。その分だけ、ボディ１の左手で支持する側は、薄肉とすることができる。

さらに、ボディ１の前面に突出する撮影レンズ部２のレンズ鏡胴２ｂの前端縁と、ボディ１の前面との間の段差を無くすように、カウリング部材３を配設している。カウリング部材３は、レンズ鏡胴２ｂの突出端縁に連接する部分を最も厚く、正面から見てボディ１の右端部ヘ近づくにつれて薄く形成するとともに、該カウリング部材３の上下方向のほぼ中心部から、上方および下方にずれるに従って、厚みが薄くなるように形成する。つまり、カウリング部材３の形状は、図１、図３および図４に示すように、ほぼ野球帽のつば（ひさし）のような形状を呈している。このような形態上の特質を活かして、左手で支持する側を下方に向けて、衣服のポケット、バックおよびケース等にカメラを挿入すれば、カメラの挿脱、特に挿入がし易くなる。
衣服のポケット、バックおよびケース等に対するカメラの挿脱の際に、例えわずかであっても、撮影レンズ部２のレンズ鏡胴部２ｂが突出したままであると、上述したポケット等への出し入れの際に引っかかり、挿脱に支障をきたし、カメラを取り落としたり、ポケット等に収納されている他物を引き出して、紛失したりするおそれがある。

それに対して、上述したようなカウリング部材３を設けることにより、カメラのポケット等ヘの挿脱をスムーズに行なうことができる。また、ボディ１の上面から見て、右手側から左手側にかけて緩やかな傾斜をもたせているため、さらにポケット等ヘの挿脱が容易になるとともに、視覚上もコンパクト感が増す。
図５および図６は、本発明の第２の実施の形態に係るカメラの構成を示している。図５は、カメラを正面被写体側から見た斜視図であり、図３は、その一部形状を詳細に示す斜視断面図である。
図５および図６に示すカメラは、図１および図２のカメラとはカウリング部材の形状のみが異なっている。すなわち、図５および図６に示すカメラは、図１および図２のカメラと同様のボディ１、撮影レンズ部２、ファインダ４、レリーズボタン５および操作ボタン部６等を具備している。さらに、図５および図６に示すカメラは、図１および図２のカメラにおけるカウリング部材３とは異なるカウリング部材１１を有している。

図５および図６に示すカメラで用いているカウリング部材１１は、図１、図３および図４に示したカウリング部材３とほぼ同様な形状の図示下縁部近傍に、ボディ１を支える左手の指を受ける凹所１１ａを形成している。この凹所１１ａは、カメラのホールド時に左手の人差し指または中指を受けるように形成する。さらに、このカウリング部材１１は、カメラのボディ１前面の目立つ個所に位置するので、カメラの機種番号、機種名称、製造／販売会社商標、またはペットネーム等の表記１１ｂを付して、銘板すなわちネームプレートとして流用することもできる。
図５および図６のカメラも、図１および図２のカメラと同様に、ボディ１の形状が、右手で把持する側が厚肉に形成され、且つ左手で支える側が薄肉に形成され、全体として緩やかな傾斜の楔形を呈している。このような形状とすると、ボディ１の右手で把持する部分は厚肉であり、ある程度の容積が必要な電池室等を配設することができ、また銀塩フィルムカメラの場合には同様に容積が嵩むパトローネ室等を配設するのに適している。その分だけ、ボディ１の左手で支持する側は、薄肉とすることができる。

そして、ボディ１の前面に突出する撮影レンズ部２のレンズ鏡胴２ｂの前端縁と、ボディ１の前面との間の段差を無くすように、カウリング部材１１を配設している。カウリング部材１１は、レンズ鏡胴２ｂの突出端縁に連接する部分を最も厚く、正面から見てボディ１の右端部ヘ近づくにつれて薄く形成するとともに、該カウリング部材１１の上下方向のほぼ中心部から、上方および下方にずれるに従って、厚みが薄くなるように形成する。このような形態上の特質を活かして、左手で支持する側を下方に向けて、衣服のポケット、バックおよびケース等にカメラを挿入すれば、カメラの挿脱がし易くなる。
衣服のポケット、バックおよびケース等に対するカメラの挿脱の際に、例えわずかであっても、撮影レンズ部２のレンズ鏡胴部２ｂが突出したままであると、上述したポケット等への出し入れの際に引っかかり、挿脱に支障をきたし、カメラを取り落としたり、ポケット等に収納されている他物を引き出して、紛失したりするおそれがある。それに対して、上述したようなカウリング部材１１を設けることにより、カメラのポケット等ヘの挿脱をスムーズに行なうことができる。また、ボディ１の上面から見て、右手側から左手側にかけて緩やかな傾斜をもたせているため、さらにポケット等ヘの挿脱が容易になるとともに、視覚上もコンパクト感が増す。

さらに、図５および図６のカメラにおいては、カウリング部材１１の下縁近傍の部位に、ボディ１を支持する左手の中指が落ち込み、馴染むような凹所１１ａを設けている。このように、カウリング部材１１に指当て用の凹所１１ａを設けることにより、左手が自然に凹所１１ａに誘導され、カメラのホールディング性を向上し、安定したホールドを達成し、手ぶれも減少させることが可能となる。また、カウリング部材１１の前面は、被写体側に対峙する被写体等の側から目立ち易く、図５に示すように、この部分にカメラの名称、ペットネームまたは型式名等の刻印等の表記１１ｂを付することにより、展示中等においても目立ち、宣伝効果を発揮することができる。従来、カメラの正面から見て撮影レンズ部の左側にネームプレート等を配置したものはあるが、この部分はカメラのホールディング時に把持する右手によって隠れ易いという難点がある。それに対して、図５のような名称等の表記１１ｂは、左手によって隠れることもなく、見易くしかも目立つ。

図７は、本発明の第３の実施の形態に係る携帯端末装置の構成を示している。図７は、第１および第２の実施の形態に示したカメラに、携帯電話機能等を組み込み、背面側に携帯電話用のファンクションボタンおよび操作ボタン等を設けることにより、カメラ機能付き携帯端末装置として構成している。図７の携帯端末装置は、背面撮影者側から見た斜視図である。
図７に示す携帯端末装置のボディ２１は、前面側は、図１または図５とほぼ同様であり、ファインダ４、レリーズボタン５および操作ボタン部６と同様のファインダ２２、レリーズボタン２３、および操作ボタン部２４を有している。さらにボディ２１の背面には、電話機能用のファンクションボタン２５および携帯電話用の電話操作ボタン部２６を設けている。

上述したように、図７に示すカメラ機能付き携帯端末装置においては、図１〜図６に関連して先に述べた第１および第２の実施の形態に係るカメラと同等のカメラ機能を有する携帯電話機等の携帯端末装置として構成することができる。図７に示す携帯端末装置においては、例えば携帯電話操作用のファンクションボタン２５および携帯電話用のダイヤルボタン等を含む電話操作ボタン部２６を有している。すなわち、携帯端末としての携帯電話機能、並びにファンクションボタン２５および電話操作ボタン部２６を備えている点を除けば、図１〜図６に関連して先に述べた第１および第２の実施の形態に係るカメラとほぼ同様である。
このように、携帯端末装置とした場合にもホールディング性が良好となり、カメラ機能に係る操作のみならず、通信時の各種操作が容易となる。

さらに、図１〜図４に示した第１の実施の形態では、カウリング部材３のボディ１に連接する外周形状を放物線状あるいは半楕円状としたが、例えば図８に示すように種々の形状とすることができる。図８の（ａ）は、外周形状をほぼ矩形状とし、角部を丸めたカウリング部材３１を示している。図８の（ｂ）は、外周形状をほぼ半長円状としたカウリング部材３２を示している。図８の（ｃ）は、外周形状をほぼ三角形状の先端部を切除した形状、つまりほぼ台形状として角部を丸めたカウリング部材３３を示している。その他にも、複数の平面を結合した多面体状の擬似曲面を形成したり、既にあげた形状を組み合わせたりするなど、カウリング部材の形状としては、種々の形状を用いることができ、機能性と美観を配慮して適宜形成することができる。なお、これら種々の形状についても図５および図６に示した第２の実施の形態と同様に指受け用の凹所を設けてよい。また、カウリング部材のボディヘの着脱には、ねじ止め、嵌合および接着等の他に、いわゆるバヨネット式の結合を用いることもできる。特に嵌合等は、嵌合方式を工夫することにより、容易に着脱できるようにすることができる。さらに、カウリング部材としては、種々の形状、寸法、さらには色調、材質および表面処理等のものを用いることができる。

カウリング部材の材質としては、滑らかなもの、ゴムのように滑りにくいもの、さらには、金属のように堅いものまたはゴムのように軟らかいものなど、適宜選択して用いることができる。このようにすれば、性別、年齢、趣味および嗜好等の異なるユーザに柔軟に対応することができ、購買意欲を高めることが期待できる。
また、寸法、形状、色調、表面処理および材質の少なくともいずれかが異なる複数のカウリング部材を製作しておき、工場の製造段階で選択的に取着して、複数種のカメラとして出荷したり、ディーラー段階でカウリング部材を交換可能にしたりしてもよい。さらに、複数種のカウリング部材を製品に付属させてユーザ自身が好みのカウリング部材に選択交換して使用できるようにしてもよい。特にカウリングを嵌合等の容易に着脱し得る方式により取着するものとすれば、ユーザによる交換が容易であり、衣服等に合わせてカウリング部材を選択するなどして、楽しむこともできる。
また、凹所１１ａを有するカウリング１１の場合、年齢や男性と女性とでは、手の大きさ、指の太さが異なるので、ユーザにあったカウリングを装着することによって、撮影時のホールディング性能をより向上させることができる。

【発明の効果】
以上述べたように、本発明によれば、携帯に適し且つ衣服のポケットやバッグ等への挿脱が容易で、しかも安価に且つコンパクトに構成することが可能であると共に、ズームレンズにより撮影を行う際に、上記カウリングの存在にも拘わらず、ズームレンズ操作部を容易に操作し得るカメラおよび携帯端末装置を提供することができる。
すなわち、本発明の請求項１のカメラによれば、
カメラとして機能するための機能要素を収容するボディと、
前記ボディの前面に対物面側の一部を突出して収納されてなり、円筒状のズームレンズ操作部を備え、被写体像を撮影するために用いられるズームレンズ部と、
前記ボディの前記ズームレンズ部から偏倚して設けられた撮影操作用のレリーズボタンと、
前記ボディの前面に設けられ、前記ズームレンズ操作部に近接する近接部と前記ボディの前記前面に連接する周縁部を有するカウリング部と、を具備するカメラにおいて、
前記カウリング部の前記近接部は、前記ズームレンズ操作部の円周における前記ボディの前記前面の長手方向の前記レリーズボタンから遠い一端側の略半周にほぼ沿って前記ズームレンズ操作部とほぼ同程度まで突出し、
前記カウリング部は、前記近接部から前記ボディの前面にかけて傾斜面を形成したので、
このような構成により、携帯時に、衣服のポケットやバッグ等への収納および取り出しがし易く、携帯に適しており、しかも構成が簡単で安価に製造することが可能となると共に、
ズームレンズ操作部の円周のうち、カウリング部の近接部が近接していない（存在していない）略半周は、手指で操作を行うことができるため、ズーミング操作を容易に行うことができ、さらには、カウリング部は、ズームレンズ部と同程度の突出量となっているため、コンパクト化、とりわけカメラの前後方向の寸法を薄くしてコンパクト化を実現することができる。

また、本発明の請求項２のカメラによれば、前記カウリング部は、前記ボディの前記前面の長手方向の前記レリーズボタンから遠い側の前記周縁部から近接部にかけて曲面を形成することにより、特に、携帯時に、衣服のポケットやバッグ等への収納および取り出しがし易く、しかも構成が簡単で且つ構成の柔軟性を有し、安価に製造することができる。
本発明の請求項３のカメラによれば、前記ボディを、前記長手方向の前記レリーズボタンから遠い側の一端部を薄肉に、他端部を厚肉に形成して全体としほぼ楔状に形成してなる構成により、特に、衣服のポケットやバッグ等への収納および取り出しをさらにスムーズに行なうことが可能となると共に、ホールディング性能も向上させることができる。
本発明の請求項４のカメラによれば、前記カウリング部が、その下部に前記ボディを支える手の指を受ける凹所を含むことにより、特に、衣服のポケットやバッグ等への収納および取り出しを容易にするだけでなく、撮影時のホールディング性能も向上し得る。

本発明の請求項６のカメラによれば、前記カウリング部材を、前記ボディ前面に対して容易に着脱し得る構成とすることにより、特に、デザイン上のバリエーションによる外観上の趣を個々のユーザの所望に応じて変更することが可能である。

本発明の請求項１０の携帯端末装置によれば、カメラ機能を含む各種機能要素を収容するボディの前面に対物面側の一部を突出されてなり、被写体像を撮影するために用いられるズームレンズ部が収納され、前記ボディの前記ズームレンズ部から偏倚して撮影操作用のレリーズボタンが設けられ、前記ボディの前面側にカウリング部材を配設して、該カウリング部材は前記ボディの前記前面の長手方向の前記レリーズボタンから遠い側の前記周縁部から前記近接部にかけて曲面を形成することにより、特に、携帯時に、衣服のポケットやバッグ等への収納および取り出しがし易く、しかも構成が簡単で且つ構成の柔軟性を有し、安価に製造することが可能となる。
本発明の請求項１１の携帯端末装置によれば、前記ボディを、前記長手方向の前記一端部を薄肉に、他端部を厚肉に形成して全体としほぼ楔状に形成してなる構成により、特に、衣服のポケットやバッグ等への収納および取り出しをさらにスムーズに行なうことが可能となる。
