In FIG. 6A, first, a process (from A to B) in which the drive voltage is changed from the first voltage V1 (= constant) to the voltage 0 is a first process, and a time required for this process is t1. Also, the process (from B to C) in which the voltage 0 is maintained and waits is defined as the second process, and the time required for this process is defined as t2. Furthermore, the process (from C to D) for changing from the voltage 0 to the second voltage V2 is the third process, and the time required for this process is t3. In the following description, the first voltage V1 is referred to as a pull-in voltage, and the second voltage V2 is referred to as a discharge voltage.

[0029]
Here, since the amount of meniscus pull-in in the first stroke can be changed by changing the magnitude of the potential difference (pull-in voltage V1) between time A and time B, the end of the next second stroke is indirectly performed. It is possible to adjust the meniscus position at the time, that is, at the start of the third stroke. The meniscus position, that is, the distance from the opening end to the meniscus greatly affects the size of the ink droplets ejected in the third stroke, and the size of the ink droplets can be controlled by adjusting this. That is, the ink droplet size can be controlled by changing the amount of meniscus pull-in (more specifically, pull-in voltage V1) in the first stroke.
[0030]
Next, during a time t2 from time point B to time point C, a second process is performed to keep the volume of the
[0031]
Here, the amount of advancement of the meniscus position is changed by changing the time t2 required for the second stroke, and the meniscus position at the start of the third stroke can be adjusted. As a result, the ink droplet size is controlled. It is possible. Specifically, the ink droplet size can be reduced as the required time t2 of the second stroke is shortened.
[0032]
Next, a third step is performed in which the drive voltage is rapidly increased from the voltage 0 V at time C to the ejection voltage V2 at time D. Here, time point C is the timing at which ejection is started, as described above. In this case, since the large discharge voltage V2 is applied to the piezoelectric element 122 at the time point D, the

In the ink jet printer according to the present embodiment, in order to reduce the influence of such crosstalk, for example, a combination as shown in FIG. 10 is applied to piezoelectric elements other than the piezoelectric element 116-3 that has ejected ink droplets. Thus, an auxiliary drive signal is applied. FIG. 10 shows time-series changes in the combination of drive signals applied to the piezoelectric elements 116-1 to 116-5 shown in FIG. 9. Further, “a”, “b”, and “c” in this figure indicate that the drive signals 145a, 145b, and 145c are applied, respectively.

FIG. 12 shows a time-series change in the combination of drive signals applied to the piezoelectric elements 116-1 to 116-5 shown in FIG. 11, and “a” and “c” The drive signals 145a and 145c are applied, respectively.

[0057]
In the example described with reference to FIGS. 9 to 12, the ink droplet ejection operation is performed only with one certain piezoelectric element and the ink droplet operation is not performed with the other piezoelectric elements. In the case where a plurality of piezoelectric elements or a plurality of piezoelectric elements separated by several simultaneously perform ink droplet ejection, the following may be performed.
[0058]
For example, assuming that ink droplets are ejected simultaneously by the piezoelectric elements 116-3 and 116-4 in FIG. 9, the piezoelectric elements 116-3 and 116-4 are as follows. That is, when the ink droplet ejection is performed only by the piezoelectric element 116-3, the waveform of the auxiliary drive signal (here, the

On the other hand, the piezoelectric elements 116-1, 116-2, and 116-5 that do not discharge ink droplets are as follows. That is, when ink droplet ejection is performed only by the piezoelectric element 116-3, the waveform of the auxiliary drive signal to be applied to each of the piezoelectric elements 116-1, 116-2, 116-5 (here, the
[0060]
The same applies to the case where two piezoelectric elements are simultaneously driven by other combinations, and the case where three or more piezoelectric elements are simultaneously driven by any combination. That is, drive signals of all waveform patterns obtained by superimposing auxiliary drive signals of waveforms to be applied to other piezoelectric elements when driven individually are prepared in advance, and according to the drive patterns of the piezoelectric elements. Therefore, a corresponding drive signal may be applied. By doing so, even when ink droplets are ejected simultaneously by a plurality of nozzles, it is possible to reduce the influence of crosstalk between the nozzles.
[0061]
While the present invention has been described with reference to the embodiment, the present invention is not limited to this embodiment and can be variously changed. For example, in the above embodiment, as shown in FIG. 6, only one type of drive signal is used for the ejection operation and the ink droplet size is one type, but the present invention is limited to this. For example, a plurality of drive signals having various waveforms in which the pull-in voltage V1, the second process time t2, or the discharge voltage V2 are appropriately set are prepared, and are selectively switched for each dot and supplied to the piezoelectric elements of the nozzles. By doing so, it becomes possible to eject ink droplets of many sizes.
[0062]
In the above embodiment (FIG. 6), only one type of drive signal is prepared for each of the auxiliary drive signals for in-phase crosstalk suppression and anti-phase crosstalk suppression, but the present invention is limited to this. As described above, for example, auxiliary drive signals having various waveforms in which the voltage values V3 to V6 are appropriately set are prepared and selectively supplied to the piezoelectric elements of the respective nozzles as necessary. By doing so, more detailed crosstalk countermeasures can be taken.
[0063]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the ink jet printer, the ink jet printer recording head driving apparatus, or the ink jet printer recording head driving method according to the present invention, when a plurality of ejection energy generating means perform ink ejection simultaneously, the ink ejection One ejection energy generating means to be operated is set to a waveform of a drive signal for causing one of the plurality of ejection energy generating means to perform the ink ejection operation to perform the ink ejection operation. The waveform of the auxiliary drive signal for canceling the influence caused by the ink discharge operation of the energy generating means Superimpose In order to cancel the influence caused by the ink discharge operation of each discharge energy generating means that performs the ink discharge operation on the discharge energy generating means that supplies the obtained first drive signal and does not discharge ink, the ink discharge is performed. Corresponding waveforms of auxiliary drive signals to be applied to the discharge energy generating means not associated with each other Superimpose Since the obtained second drive signal is supplied, it is possible to suppress the influence of crosstalk generated between a plurality of nozzles. As a result, it is possible to reduce variations in the ink droplet ejection state among a plurality of nozzles, and it is possible to obtain a stable and high-quality print output.
