Description
【0001】
【0063】
図12では、図11に示した0.1mmピッチ×64ノズルヘッドで127mm幅の記録媒体に91mm(記録媒体搬送方向)×129mm(記録媒体搬送方向と垂直の方向)の画像を記録した後、画像の前後1mmずつを切断し、89mm(記録媒体搬送方向)×127mm(記録媒体搬送方向と垂直の方向)の余白のないプリントを作成する様子を示している。
【0064】
図18は図16に示したヘッドで127mm幅の記録媒体1に91mm(記録媒体搬送方向)×129mm(記録媒体搬送方向と垂直な方向)の画像を岐路記した後に、画像の前後1mmずつを切断し、89mm(記録媒体搬送方向)×127mm(記録媒体搬送方向と垂直な方向)の余白のないプリントを作成する様子を示している。

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a recording head that performs recording by ejecting ink to a recording medium, a conveying unit that conveys the recording medium to the recording head, and the recording medium is cut in a direction substantially perpendicular to the conveying direction. The present invention relates to an image recording apparatus having a cutting means.
[0002]
[Prior art]
FIG. 20 is a configuration diagram of a conventional image recording apparatus. In the figure, a recording medium 1000 wound in a roll shape is nipped and conveyed in the direction of arrow I by a roller pair 1003 as a conveying means.
[0003]
A recording unit 1020 that performs recording by ejecting ink in the width direction of the recording medium 1000 is provided downstream of the roller pair 1003. The recording unit 1020 of the conventional example includes a
[0004]
Further, an ink drying unit 1007 for drying the ink ejected on the recording medium 1000 is provided downstream of the recording unit 1020.
Further, a suction unit 1006 that faces the recording unit 1020 and sucks the recording medium 1000 to prevent the recording medium 1000 from being lifted during image recording is provided on the surface of the recording medium 1000 opposite to the image recording surface. ing.
[0005]
On the downstream side of the ink drying means 1007, a cutter 1005 for cutting the recording medium 1000 and a paper discharge tray 1008 for storing the cut recording medium 1000 are provided.
[0006]
Next, the operation of the above configuration will be described.
As the
[0007]
When a line-shaped image is recorded, the roller pair 1003 is driven, and the recording unit 1020 moves in the arrow I direction by a predetermined amount.
Further, the
[0008]
By repeating this, one image is recorded on the recording medium 1000.
When the recording of one image is completed, the recording medium 1000 is sent in the direction of arrow I by the roller pair 1003 until the end of the recorded image faces the cutter 1005.
[0009]
Then, the cutter 1005 cuts the vicinity of the end of the image, and the sheet-like recording medium 1000 is placed on the paper discharge tray 1008.
After the recording medium 1000 is cut, the roller pair 1003 rotates in the direction opposite to the previous direction, the leading end of the recording medium 1000 is pulled back to a position facing the recording means 1020, and the next image recording is performed.
[0010]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
In the image recording apparatus having the above configuration, when one image is recorded, the recording medium 1000 is sent to a position where the end of the recorded image faces the cutter 1005. After cutting, the leading end of the recording medium 1000 is the recording means. It is pulled back to the position facing 1020.
[0011]
That is, there is a problem in that the recording medium 1000 needs to be sent out and pulled back at the time of cutting, and during that time image recording cannot be performed, and the processing time becomes long.
Also, when using a recording head with a large number of nozzles, the amount of movement in the direction of the arrow I after a single line-shaped image is recorded increases, so when recording a small-size image, The processing time ratio for cutting increases, and the ratio at which no image is recorded increases.
[0012]
The present invention has been made in view of the above problems, and an object thereof is to provide an image recording apparatus in which processing time is shortened.
[0013]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The invention according to
[0014]
A control unit that controls the number of nozzles of the recording head in the conveyance direction of the recording medium according to the cut length of the recording medium so that a boundary between the images comes to a cutting position of the cutting unit; Accordingly, the recording medium can be cut during the subsequent image recording on the recording medium, and the processing time is shortened.
[0015]
According to a second aspect of the present invention, a plurality of recording heads having different numbers of nozzles in the conveyance direction of the recording medium are provided, and the control unit selects one of the plurality of recording heads. 1. The image recording apparatus according to 1.
[0016]
The control unit selects one of a plurality of recording heads having a different number of nozzles in the conveyance direction of the recording medium according to the cut size, thereby performing the recording medium during the subsequent image recording on the recording medium. Can be cut, and the processing time is shortened.
[0017]
According to a third aspect of the present invention, there is provided a recording head that performs recording by ejecting ink onto a recording medium, a conveying unit that conveys the recording medium to the recording head, and a direction substantially perpendicular to the conveying direction. A cutting means for cutting the recording medium, and the recording medium cutting position if the recording medium cutting position in the vicinity of the boundary between the images reaches the cutting position of the cutting means in the middle of conveyance for the next recording And a control unit that cuts the recording medium, cuts the recording medium, and then transports the recording medium to a position where the next recording is possible.
[0018]
If the recording medium cut position in the vicinity of the image-to-image boundary comes to the cutting position of the cutting means during the conveyance for the next recording, the recording medium cutting position is stopped at the cutting position of the cutting means, By having a control unit that cuts the recording medium and then transports the recording medium to a position where the next recording is possible, it is not necessary to feed and pull back the recording medium at the time of cutting, which shortens the processing time. Become.

【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the first aspect of the present invention, the recording medium is conveyed according to the cut length of the recording medium so that the boundary between the images is at the cutting position of the cutting means. By having a control unit that controls the number of nozzles of the recording head in the direction, the recording medium can be cut during the subsequent image recording on the recording medium, and the processing time is shortened.
[0115]
According to the second aspect of the present invention, the control unit selects one of a plurality of recording heads having different numbers of nozzles in the conveyance direction of the recording medium in accordance with the cut size, and subsequently performs recording. During the image recording on the medium, the recording medium can be cut, and the processing time is shortened.
[0116]
According to the third aspect of the present invention, if the recording medium cut position in the vicinity of the boundary between images reaches the cut position of the cutting means during the conveyance for the next recording, the previous recording medium cut position Is cut at the cutting position of the cutting means, and the recording medium is cut and then transported to a position where the next recording is possible, so that the recording medium is sent out at the time of cutting, which has been conventionally required The pull back operation becomes unnecessary and the processing time is shortened.
