特に、マゼンタ色素においては、直接染料(C.I.DR−227)や酸性染料(C.I.AR−249)が用いられてきた(尚「C.I.」

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an aqueous ink jet recording liquid, and more particularly to an aqueous ink jet recording liquid containing a metal chelate dye composed of a water-soluble azo metal chelate compound particularly suitable for ink jet recording.
[0002]
[Prior art]
A so-called ink jet recording method has been put to practical use in which recording is performed by ejecting droplets of a recording liquid containing a water-soluble dye such as a direct dye or an acid dye from a minute ejection orifice.
With regard to the recording liquid used in this method, fixing is fast on recording papers used for general office work such as PPC (plain paper copier) paper, fan hold paper (continuous paper such as computers) of electrophotographic paper, and printed matter. In addition, it is required that the printing quality of the recording medium is good, that is, that the printing has no blur and the outline is clear, and that the storage stability as a recording liquid is excellent. Solvents that can be used for this are significantly limited.
[0003]
Regarding the dye for recording liquid, it has sufficient solubility in the limited solvent as described above, and is stable when stored as a recording liquid for a long period of time. It is required to have a high concentration and excellent water resistance, light resistance, and indoor discoloration.
On the other hand, in the ink jet recording method, in order to form a full color image, three primary colors of yellow (Y), magenta (M), and cyan (C), or four colors of ink with black (Bk) added thereto are used. By controlling the discharge amount of each ink, these colors are mixed on the recording material to form an image. Furthermore, when forming a full-color image, it is necessary to express not only the difference in color but also the color density, but the density area is usually formed using two or more inks having different pigment concentrations.
[0004]
Regarding conventional inkjet dyes, the problem is that the image is faded by light irradiation, that is, the light resistance is poor, and in particular, the light resistance of the light-colored portion using an ink with a low dye concentration is a problem. There has been a demand for inkjet dyes having excellent light resistance. In particular, in a magenta pigment, a direct dye (CI DR-227) or an acid dye (CI AR-249) has been used (where “CI” indicates a “color index”). , “AR” indicates “Acid Red” and “DR” indicates “Direct Red”.) However, direct dyes have unclear colors, and conversely, acid dyes with clear colors tend to have poor light resistance. It is in. Further, the metal-containing azo dyes have good light resistance, but the color tone is dull, unclear and the color tone is not excellent. Thus, development of an ink jet dye that satisfies both the color tone and the light fastness among the characteristics required for the ink jet recording dye has been desired.
[0005]
For example, Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 57-42775 uses at least one 5-hydroxypyrazole azo dye having an azo group at the 4-position, or a complex salt dye of copper, nickel, or cobalt. A water-based ink for printing is disclosed, and JP-A-10-259331 contains a water-soluble metal complex formed from a benzeneazo compound and at least one metal selected from nickel, cobalt, chromium or copper. A water-based ink jet recording liquid is disclosed.
[0006]
Further, JP-A-11-140367 includes a magenta dye ligand of 4-hydroxy-3- (2′-pyridylazo) -1- (sulfo-substituted) naphthalene that coordinates a polyvalent metal ion and an ink vehicle. An ink composition is disclosed. However, the recording liquids containing the dyes described in these known documents are sufficiently satisfactory in properties such as color tone sharpness, light resistance, indoor discoloration, solubility, and storage stability required for ink jet recording dyes. It is not possible. In particular, in an aqueous inkjet recording liquid containing a metal chelate dye comprising a water-soluble azo metal chelate compound, ensuring long-term storage stability during storage has been a major issue.
[0007]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
The present invention has good print quality even when recorded on plain paper for inkjet recording, and has a clear color tone, high density, excellent light resistance, and good dye solubility. It is an object of the present invention to provide an aqueous inkjet recording liquid having a good long-term storage stability, which contains a metal chelate dye composed of a water-soluble azo chelate compound suitable for inkjet recording.
[0008]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The present inventors have achieved the above object by adjusting the pH of a water-based inkjet recording liquid containing a water-soluble dye, which is an azo chelate compound of a specific azo compound and a metal element, to a predetermined range. That is, the gist of the present invention is an azo compound represented by the following general formula (1) in an aqueous medium. And goldWater solubility formed from genus elementsmonoAn aqueous ink jet recording liquid containing at least one azo metal chelate compound and having a pH of 4 or more and 11 or less.

[0061]
The obtained azo compound of the general formula (1) and a metal compound (for example, NiCl2・ 6H2O, CuCl2・ 2H2O, etc.) can be reacted to produce a water-soluble azo metal chelate compound that is a compound of the present invention.
The content of the water-soluble dye, which is an azo chelate compound of the azo compound of the general formula (1) and the metal in the recording liquid, is 0.5 to 5% by weight in total for the dark ink based on the total amount of the recording liquid. In particular, about 2 to 4.5% by weight is preferable. In the case of using light-colored ink, the pigment content is 0.1 to 2% by weight, preferably about 0.1 to 1.5% by weight.
[0062]
The aqueous medium used in the recording liquid of the present invention is a medium comprising water and a water-soluble organic solvent. Examples of the water-soluble organic solvent include ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, butylene glycol, diethylene glycol, triethylene glycol, polyethylene glycol ( Weight average molecular weight of about 190 to 400), glycerin, N-methylpyrrolidone, N-ethylpyrrolidone, 1,3-dimethylimidazolidinone, thiodiethanol, dimethyl sulfoxide, ethylene glycol monoallyl ether, ethylene glycol monomethyl ether, diethylene glycol monomethyl ether 2-pyrrolidone, sulfolane, ethyl alcohol, isopropanol and the like are preferably contained in water. These water-soluble organic solvents are usually used in the range of 1 to 45% by weight with respect to the total amount of the recording liquid. If the pH of the recording solution exceeds this range and is too low, that is, less than 4, the dissolution stability of the azo metal chelate compound of the dye is lowered, and the dye is likely to precipitate during storage, or the metal chelate is removed and discoloration is likely to occur. . On the other hand, when the pH exceeds 11, alcoholic organic solvents and alcoholates are produced in the recording liquid, which may induce deterioration of ink performance. In addition, since the recording liquid of the present invention has a high possibility of touching the human body, it is desirable to adjust the recording liquid avoiding high pH from the viewpoint of safety.
[0064]
The pH of the recording liquid can be adjusted using a pH adjusting agent, and the pH adjusting agent can be adjusted to a predetermined range, that is, 4 to 11 without adversely affecting the recording liquid to be prepared. The buffer is generally 0.01% by weight or more and 3% by weight or less, preferably 0.1% by weight or more and 1% by weight or less, more preferably 0.1% by weight or more, and 0% by weight relative to the total weight of the recording liquid. Used at 5 wt% or less.
[0065]
In the present invention, the pH of the recording liquid may be adjusted using a pH 4 to 11 buffer as a pH adjuster, and the buffer is generally used for the purpose of preventing a decrease in pH due to mixing of hydrogen ions.
