加湿器は、水道水を蒸発させることにより室内を加湿するものである。方式としては超音波等の噴霧式と加熱式とに大別される。水中に含まれるカウシウム、マグネシウム等の無機塩類が飛散しない点で加熱式の方が主流になっている。

加熱式においては蒸気発生部の構造として蒸発槽とヒータから構成され、ヒータに通電することで蒸発槽に蓄えられた水を加熱し、沸騰、蒸発させるようになっている。

しかし、加熱式の欠点としては、ごく希に突沸(急激に沸騰が起こる)という特異現象が発生し、場合によっては内部のお湯が蒸気吐出口から数メートルも飛び出してしまうという問題があった。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかるに、ごく希な現象であるために加熱式における突沸時のお湯の噴き出しを低減させる方法としての発案がなかったのが現状である。この現象の発生が、最も加湿器が必要と考えられる就寝時において、発生しやすく、眠りを妨げ且つ、無防備の状態であるために、使用者にとって大変危険で、最悪の場合、火傷に至る場合がある。

【発明の効果】
