Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a chain case for a motorcycle.
[0002]
[Prior art]
A chain case for covering the chain of a motorcycle is known, and as an example, Japanese Patent Publication No. 6-6438 shows an aluminum chain case divided into two in the vehicle width direction.
[0003]
This chain case is a full cover type that covers the entire chain. Further, a half cover type covering the upper half side of the chain is also known, and in this case, it is also known to form a chain case with resin.
[0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
By the way, when the chain case is made of metal, there are a lot of components and the manufacturing process increases with pressing, welding, and painting.
[0005]
In addition, it is relatively heavy, has a limited mounting structure, and cannot absorb contact noise generated by contact with the inner surface of the chain case when the chain is excessively extended.
[0006]
On the other hand, if the chain case is made of resin, many of these problems can be solved, but a practical full cover type cannot be obtained yet for the following reasons.
[0007]
(1) Large misalignment due to molding error and thermal expansion, making it difficult to match when divided.
(2) Because the rear swing arm to be installed is made of metal, due to the difference in thermal expansion coefficient,
Stress may be concentrated on the mounting part.
(3) Weak against interference with excessively extended chains.
[0008]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to solve the above problems, a chain case for a motorcycle according to the present application is supported by a rear swing arm that is swingably supported by a vehicle body, and covers a chain extending in the front-rear direction above and below the rear swing arm. In the case, the upper case and the lower case are divided into upper and lower parts, and it is a full cover type that can cover almost the whole chain by combining from the upper and lower sides, and both the upper case and the lower case are formed of resin, upper and lower cases front was fixed to the rear swing arm, respectively, the upper and lower rear of the case is supported to the rear swing arm via a length hole in the front-rear direction, the rear swing the intermediate portion to permit the movement in the longitudinal direction of the upper and lower cases A metal plate is provided on the lower part of the chain line in the lower case and supported by the arm.
[0009]
In this case, at least one of the attachment parts to the rear swing arm at the rear of the upper case or the lower case is made into a floating structure, or the middle outer wall of each of the upper case and the lower case is used as a vertical projecting member provided on the rear swing arm. It can also be inserted and fixed.
[0011]
Furthermore, a confirmation window for checking the elongation of the chain can be provided on the side surface.
[0012]
【The invention's effect】
Even if the chain case is divided into two parts in the upper and lower parts, the front part of the upper and lower cases is fixed to the rear swing arm, and the rear part of the upper and lower case is supported on the rear swing arm through a long slot in the front-rear direction. By allowing the middle part to be supported on the rear swing arm while allowing the upper and lower cases to move in the front-rear direction, vertical alignment is facilitated even if there is a certain amount of deviation due to molding error or thermal expansion.
In addition, since the metal plate is provided in the lower part of the chain line in the lower case, when the chain extends excessively, the lower chain line first interferes with the metal plate and emits a contact sound, which functions as a sound plate. Excessive chain elongation can be immediately confirmed by contact noise. For this reason, the length of the chain can be adjusted before the chain is excessively stretched so as to start interference with parts other than the metal plate.
[0013]
Also, if at least one of the attachment parts to the rear swing arm is made into a floating structure, the difference in thermal expansion between the metal rear swing arm and the resin chain case can be absorbed, and stress concentration in the attachment part is avoided. Can do.
[0014]
Furthermore, when the outer walls of the intermediate portions of the upper case and the lower case are inserted and fixed in the vertically protruding members provided on the rear swing arm, the appearance side is less likely to be deformed even when thermally expanded.
[0018]
Furthermore, if a check window is provided on the side of the chain case, it can be easily checked to see if the chain is overstretched and adjusted accurately, so even if the metal plate is omitted, chain interference is prevented in advance. Interference can be more reliably prevented by using a metal plate .
