Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a printer that performs printing on continuous paper and a control method thereof, and more particularly, to a printer and a control method thereof characterized by discharge control of continuous paper with a small remaining amount.
[0002]
[Prior art]
2. Description of the Related Art As printers built in an ATM device and the like for outputting receipts and the like, a printer equipped with roll paper or other continuous paper, which is appropriately cut and separated by an auto cutter mechanism, is widely known. Since this type of printer is often installed in a place where the administrator or engineer is not resident, it is an important issue to minimize the troubles associated with its use.
[0003]
Even when a failure occurs, it is important that the recovery method from the failure is as simple as possible.
[0004]
For this reason, the printer is provided with a real end sensor for detecting the end of the continuous paper in the vicinity of the printing unit. When the end of the continuous paper is detected by the real end sensor, printing is stopped as the continuous paper has run out. Then, the paper is fed and the remaining continuous paper is discharged from the discharge port. Thereafter, the printing is performed again after the continuous paper is replaced with a new one by the maintenance staff.
[0005]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, in such a conventional printer, when printing is performed when there is only a small amount of continuous paper remaining, the real end sensor terminates before the leading edge of the continuous paper reaches the discharge roller provided near the discharge port. May be detected. In such a case, since the continuous paper cannot be fed to the discharge roller, the continuous paper cannot be discharged and remains in the printer. In addition, there is a problem that printing cannot be resumed unless the maintenance staff manually pulls out the continuous paper remaining in the printer. Also, the work of extracting paper from a narrow paper path in the printer is very time consuming.
[0006]
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION An object of the present invention is to solve the above-described conventional problems and to provide a printer and a control method therefor that can reliably discharge continuous paper even when the remaining amount of continuous paper is small.
[0007]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, the present invention provides a control method for a printer that performs printing on continuous paper. (A) a step of detecting the end of the continuous paper when the continuous paper can be discharged from a discharge port of the printer; And (b) a step of discharging the continuous paper from a discharge port of the printer when the end of the continuous paper is detected.
[0008]
In the control of the present invention, the end of the continuous paper can be detected when it can be discharged, and the discharging operation can be performed. Accordingly, since the continuous paper can be reliably fed to the discharge roller and the continuous paper can be discharged, there is no need for the maintenance staff to manually remove the continuous paper.
[0009]
According to another aspect of the present invention, there is provided a method for controlling a printer that performs printing on continuous paper. (A) a step of detecting the end of the continuous paper by a paper end sensor when the continuous paper can be discharged from a discharge port of the printer; (B) a step of detecting the end of the continuous paper by a real end sensor at a time when printing on the continuous paper becomes impossible; and (c) the end of the continuous paper is detected in the step (a). Then, when printing is completed before the end of the continuous paper is detected in the step (b), the continuous paper is discharged from the discharge port of the printer, and the end of the continuous paper is detected in the step (a). If the end of the continuous paper is detected in step (b) after the detection and before the printing is finished, the printing on the continuous paper is stopped and the continuous paper is discharged from the discharge port of the printer. And the process of comprising.
[0010]
In this case, when the end of the continuous paper is detected, if printing is completed after a short time, printing can be continued and printing can be completed. Therefore, it is not necessary to perform printing again after replacing the continuous paper.
[0011]
The invention also relates to a printer for printing on continuous paper. The printer of the present invention is a printer that performs printing on continuous paper, and is installed in the vicinity of the first transport means for transporting the printed area of the continuous paper toward the discharge port of the printer, A second conveying means for conveying the printed area of the continuous paper to the outside from the discharge port; and a paper end sensor for detecting the end of the continuous paper when the continuous paper can be discharged from the discharge port of the printer; When the end of the continuous paper is detected by the paper end sensor, the first conveyance means and the second conveyance means are driven to discharge the continuous paper from the discharge port of the printer. Means.
[0012]
The printer of the present invention is a printer that performs printing on continuous paper, and is installed in the vicinity of the first transport means for transporting the printed area of the continuous paper toward the discharge port of the printer, and the discharge port. A second conveying means for conveying the printed area of the continuous paper out of the discharge port; and a paper end for detecting the end of the continuous paper at a time when the continuous paper can be discharged from the discharge port of the printer. A sensor, a real end sensor for detecting the end of the continuous paper when printing on the continuous paper is impossible, and the real end sensor after the end of the continuous paper is detected by the paper end sensor. When the printing is finished before the end of the continuous paper is detected at, the first conveying means and the second conveying means are driven to discharge the continuous paper from the discharge port of the printer, The paper After the end of the continuous paper is detected by the end sensor, if the end of the continuous paper is detected by the real end sensor before the end of printing, printing on the continuous paper is stopped, And a control means for driving the first transport means and the second transport means to discharge the continuous paper from the discharge port of the printer.
[0013]
Further, in the printer according to the present invention, the paper end sensor is located upstream of the first transport unit, and a distance between the paper end sensor and the first transport unit is the first transport unit and the first transport unit. They can be arranged at positions that are equal to or greater than the mutual spacing of the second transport means.
[0014]
As a result, when the end of the continuous paper is detected by the paper end sensor, the remaining length of the continuous paper becomes equal to or greater than the mutual interval between the first transport unit and the second transport unit. Therefore, the continuous paper can be reliably fed into the second transport unit.
[0015]
The printer of the present invention includes a receiving means for receiving a control command and print data transmitted from a host computer,
Printing means for printing on web-like paper according to the content received by the receiving means;
First paper detecting means for detecting the end of the web-like paper;
Cutting means provided in the vicinity of the printing means and cutting the paper as required;
A first transport unit that is provided at a position facing the printing unit and transports the paper toward a discharge port;
Provided near the discharge port on the downstream side of the first transport unit, and includes a second transport unit that receives the paper transported from the first transport unit and discharges the paper from the discharge port,
When the first detection unit detects the end of the sheet during printing by the printing unit, the cutting unit does not perform the cutting operation even if a cutting command is received from the host computer, and the first transport is performed. And a control means for controlling to discharge the sheet by a transporting operation by the second transporting means and the second transporting means.
[0016]
According to this configuration, even when a cutting command indicating the end of printing is received from the host computer, the paper can be discharged without being cut by the cutting command. Absent.
[0017]
The printer of the present invention includes a receiving means for receiving a control command and print data transmitted from a host computer,
Printing means for printing on web-like paper according to the content received by the receiving means;
First paper detecting means for detecting the end of the web-like paper;
A second paper detecting means provided in the vicinity of the printing means for detecting a printable lower end on the paper;
A first transport unit that is provided at a position facing the printing unit and transports the paper toward a discharge port;
Provided near the discharge port on the downstream side of the first transfer unit, and includes a second transfer unit that receives the paper sent from the first transfer unit and discharges the sheet from the discharge port.
Even if the first paper detection means detects the end of the paper during printing by the printing means, printing is not stopped until the end of the paper is detected by the second detection means, and the first Control means for controlling the paper to be conveyed by one conveying means is provided.
[0018]
According to this configuration, even if the first detection unit detects the end of the print data while leaving a little print data, printing can be performed until the second detection unit detects the end of the paper. The paper on which the data is printed can be output.
[0019]
The printer of the present invention includes a receiving means for receiving a control command and print data transmitted from a host computer,
Printing means for printing on web-like paper according to the content received by the receiving means;
First paper detecting means for detecting the end of the web-like paper;
Cutting means provided in the vicinity of the printing means and cutting the paper as required;
A first transport unit that is provided at a position facing the printing unit and transports the paper toward a discharge port;
Provided near the discharge port on the downstream side of the first transport unit, and receives a sheet transported from the first transport unit, and further includes a second transport unit for discharging the paper out from the discharge port,
The distance between the first paper detection unit and the cutting unit is made larger than the distance between the cutting unit and the second transport unit.
[0020]
According to this configuration, the start of the current printing to the first detection is based on the distance between the end of the paper of the previous printing cut by the cutting unit (the start of the current printing) and the second transport unit. Since the distance to the means (that is, the minimum value of the printing length of the last paper) is large, the head of the printing part of the last printing (paper end) is reliably conveyed by the second conveying means, and the paper stays inside the printer. There is nothing to do.
[0021]
Also, the printer control method of the present invention prints on a web-like continuous paper by a printing means, cuts the printed paper by a cutting means based on a cutting command received from a host computer, and cuts the cut paper by a conveying means. In the control method of the printer that discharges from the discharge port,
When interpreting the received cutting command, determine whether the paper length after cutting by the cutting means is a length that can be discharged from the discharge port,
(A) If the length of the paper is a length that can be discharged, the paper is cut by the cutting means;
(B) If it is determined that the length of the sheet is a length that cannot be discharged, one of discharging from the discharge port is selected without being cut by the cutting means.
[0022]
According to this configuration, in a printer that performs cutting based on a cutting command, it can be determined whether or not the paper stays inside the printer before cutting, and a short paper that stays inside the printer after cutting is generated. Can be prevented.
