一般に、板金製屋根材は長尺に形成され建築現場での施工能率を向上させるようにしてある。又、板金製長尺屋根材の施工方法としては、通常屋根のフレームに取り付けた吊り子と称する取付金具を介して固定するか又は嵌合方式で固定している。
例えば、実開昭56−1930号は、パネルの各辺部を折り返し、それぞれの引掛部と縁曲部を形成させ、各相互の屋根パネルを係合接続させる構造となっており施工が優れている。しかし、板金製長尺屋根材は、体育館、工場、倉庫等の大型建物の屋根材としては好適であるが、一般の住宅や小規模集合住宅等の小型建物の屋根材としては不向きなことがあり、デザイン的にも合わない場合がある。そこで、一般住宅等の小型建物に適した板金製短尺屋根材を、特願平8−295196号に提案した。
