具体的には、例えば、ステップS1−4で得られたセグメント値S(1,n)〜S(10000,n)と前回の処理で得られたセグメント値S(1,n−1)〜S(10000,n−1)との差分により、相対速度Vt(1,n)〜Vt(10000,n)が算出される。
【0048】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an object detection device that detects an object existing in front of a host vehicle by scanning a transmission wave in front of the host vehicle and detecting a reflected wave thereof.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Conventionally, an object detection apparatus using a so-called scanning laser radar has been proposed as an object detection apparatus that detects an object existing in front of the host vehicle. The scanning laser radar scans the laser beam emitted from the light source in front of the host vehicle, detects the reflected laser beam reflected by the object existing in front of the host vehicle, and the relationship between the emitted laser beam and the reflected laser beam. Based on the above, the distance and direction to the object ahead of the host vehicle are detected. Since the object detection device using such a scanning laser radar can grasp the situation ahead of the host vehicle appropriately and reliably, for example, the host vehicle follows the preceding vehicle traveling in front of the host vehicle. As a technology for realizing a vehicle traveling automatic control system that automatically controls the traveling of the vehicle, it is attracting attention.
[0003]
In the object detection apparatus using the scanning laser radar as described above, the detection accuracy of the object depends on the output intensity of the emitted laser beam. For this reason, it is an important issue to appropriately control the output intensity of the emitted laser beam, and various proposals have been made on this point. For example, in Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 7-167958, a technique for individually controlling the output intensity of emitted laser light for each angular direction so that the received light intensity of reflected laser light for each angular direction is within a predetermined range. Is disclosed.
[0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
By the way, in recent years, an attempt to apply a two-dimensional scanning laser radar that scans a laser beam in a two-dimensional direction, which is a horizontal direction and a vertical direction with respect to a road surface, to an object detection device mounted on a vehicle as described above. Has been made.
[0005]
If a two-dimensional scanning laser radar is used in an object detection device mounted on a vehicle, it has been considered difficult to use an object detection device using a one-dimensional scanning laser radar that scans laser light only in a direction horizontal to the road surface. It is very useful because it is possible to appropriately determine an object existing in the depth direction in front of the host vehicle and a signboard installed above the traveling path.
[0006]
However, in an object detection apparatus using a two-dimensional scanning laser radar, the laser light irradiation range is wide, so that the burden on optical components such as a light source that emits laser light and a photodetector that detects reflected laser light is large. There is a problem. In particular, when the output intensity of the emitted laser beam is increased in order to obtain good detection accuracy, the lifetime of the optical component is shortened.
[0007]
In order to deal with such a problem, as disclosed in the above-mentioned Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 7-167958, it is conceivable to control the output intensity of the emitted laser beam for each angular direction. Since the technology disclosed in Japanese Patent No. 167958 is based on an object detection device using a one-dimensional scanning laser radar, it cannot be directly applied to an object detection device using a two-dimensional scanning laser radar.
[0008]
In addition, if the reflector of the preceding vehicle that you want to detect reliably is damaged or dirty with mud, for example, if you perform control to reduce the output intensity of the emitted laser light, the preceding vehicle will be detected properly Inconvenience of losing sight of the preceding vehicle may also occur, which is an obstacle to realizing the vehicle travel automatic control system as described above.
[0009]
The present invention was devised in view of the conventional situation as described above, and highly accurately detects an object in front of the host vehicle while reducing the burden on the optical component and extending the life of the optical component. It is an object of the present invention to provide an object detection device that can be performed in a simple manner.
[0010]

[0014]
Further, the invention according to
[0015]
