BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an optical scanning device used in an image recording apparatus for recording an image by scanning and exposing a laser beam on a photoconductor according to image information.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In order to obtain a wide scanning width without increasing the focal length (optical path length), the present applicant has responded to the demand for higher speed and higher resolution of the image processing apparatus, and an overfilled optical system (Overfilled) Proposed an optical scanning device adopting the divided scanning method (Japanese Patent Application No. 8-338636).
[0003]
In this basic configuration, as shown in FIG. 7, two

These two laser beams have a scanning angle of −2α for the laser beam A indicated by a dotted line in the range of (1) to (2), and a laser beam B indicated by a solid line for the scanning angle of + 2α from (3) to (4). Simultaneously scan the range.
[0006]
As a result, a phenomenon that occurs when split scanning is performed with an overfilled optical system, that is, a change in FNo (F number, “brightness” in the sense of a camera) is linked to a uniform beam diameter on the
[0007]
However, as shown in FIG. 8, when the overfilled optical system is adopted, the incident beam width (Do) of the laser beam is larger than the surface width of the
[0008]
As shown in FIG. 7, the unnecessary light N A scans the range of (3) to (4) at the same time that the laser beam A scans the range of (1) to (2), and the unnecessary light N B The beam B scans the range from (3) to (4) and at the same time scans the range from (1) to (2) to perform double writing.
[0009]
In order to avoid this double writing due to unnecessary light, as shown in FIGS. 9 and 10, the two laser beams A and B are incident on the

As shown in FIGS. 4 and 5, the beam diameters in the main scanning direction / sub-scanning direction are 68 μm / 59 μm at position (1), 71.5 μm / 68.5 μm at position (2), and (3). The position is 103 μm / 105 μm, and the position (4) is 70 μm / 65 μm.
[0018]
Thus, in (2) and (3), there is a large step in the beam diameter, which has a serious adverse effect on the image quality (in general, if there is a discontinuous step in the beam diameter, the portion Streaks are drawn).
[0019]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
In consideration of the above facts, the present invention can prevent double writing due to unnecessary light even if a split scanning method of an overfilled optical system is adopted, and eliminates a step in the beam diameter at the scanning center (joint). It is an object of the present invention to provide an optical scanning device capable of achieving the above.
[0020]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In the first aspect of the present invention, two beams are incident on the same reflecting surface of the rotary polygon mirror from the two first optical systems provided for each light source at different angles in the main scanning direction and the sub-scanning direction, respectively.
[0021]
Then, while the rotary polygon mirror rotates, the two beams are deflected in a predetermined angle range in the main scanning direction. The beams deflected in the main scanning direction are individually reflected by two reflecting mirrors through a single imaging optical system, and scan one line of the scanning surface into two parts.
[0022]
Since these two beams are sufficiently separated in the sub-scanning direction at the position of the reflecting mirror, unnecessary light is not reflected by the other reflecting mirror, and as a result, double writing can be avoided.
[0023]
In addition, the bus of the cylindrical lens constituting at least one of the optical systems is moved from the initial set position so that the step in the beam diameter in the main scanning direction at the joint on the surface to be scanned, which is caused by the divided scanning, is eliminated. By rotating with respect to the optical axis, it is possible to eliminate a step in the beam diameter in the main scanning direction at the joint.
[0027]
In the invention described in claim 2 , the opening widths in the sub-scanning direction of the slits constituting the first optical system are different.
[0028]
As in the first aspect of the invention, the step of the beam diameter in the main scanning direction at the joint can be eliminated by rotating the generatrix of the cylindrical lens. However, since the movement of the beam diameter in the sub-scanning direction is independent, the step may not be so small depending on the adjustment.
[0029]
Therefore, by changing the opening width of one of the slits in the sub-scanning direction, the step of the beam diameter can be eliminated in the sub-scanning direction (if the slit width is wide, the F / No is reduced and the beam diameter is reduced). Use the phenomenon of becoming smaller).

In addition to this, the problem of double writing can be solved, and further, the step of the beam diameter in the main scanning direction at the joint of the two beams can be eliminated.
[0059]
In the second aspect of the invention, the step of the beam diameter can be eliminated in the sub scanning direction by changing the opening width of the slit.
