本発明は、移動体通信技術に係り、特に、地図情報を携帯電話機に表示するシステム及び方法に関する。

【従来の技術】
近年、ノートパソコン等に地図を表示し、種々の情報を提供するサービスが普及してきている。例えば、現在位置の周辺地図を携帯電話機等に接続したノートパソコンに表示させて、近くの店舗の情報を取得するようなサービスがある。
図1に従来の技術における地図表示のためのシステムの構成例を示す。同図に示すように、インターネットに接続された地図サーバから、インターネット及び事業者のネットワークを介して、地図情報がノートパソコンに伝送される構成をとる。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかしながら、上記従来の技術によると、地図サーバはインターネットに接続されていたため、一般の携帯電話機から地図サーバにアクセスすることができなかった。従って、外出中に地図情報を参照する場合にはノートパソコン等の端末を携帯しなければならず、利便性に欠けるという問題点があった。

また、従来の技術においては、ネットワークを介した地図情報の配信は要求に基づくプル方式であり、更に多様なサービスを提供することが可能なプッシュ型の地図配信が望まれている。
本発明は上記の点に鑑みてなされたものであり、携帯電話機からインターネットを介さずに地図サーバにアクセスし、地図を取得するとともに、経路案内を行うことができる地図情報システムを提供することを目的とする。また、携帯電話機にプッシュ型で地図を配信することが可能な地図配信システムを提供することを目的とする。

上記の目的を達成するために、本発明は次のように構成される。
本発明は、地図サーバ及び携帯電話機を有する地図情報システムであって、前記地図サーバは携帯電話網に接続され、該地図サーバは携帯電話機からの要求に基づき該携帯電話機に経路案内地図及び経路案内文を送信して経路案内を行なう。
