【0091】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an image forming apparatus such as a copying machine, a facsimile machine, or a printer. More specifically, the present invention relates to an image carrier that carries a toner image and a transfer paper that passes through a transfer position that faces the image carrier. A transfer material carrier for transporting the transfer material and a cleaning means for cleaning the surface of the transfer material carrier, and transferring the toner image electrostatically onto a transfer paper carried on the transfer material carrier. The present invention relates to an image forming apparatus that performs image transfer and a transfer device that is employed in the image forming apparatus.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Conventionally, as a transfer device of this type of image forming apparatus, a transfer paper is carried by a transfer material carrier so as to pass through a transfer position facing an image carrier on which a toner image is formed. When the toner passes the transfer position, a predetermined transfer electric field is generated at the transfer position, and the transfer electric field causes the toner image on the image carrier to be transferred to the transfer paper side, and after the toner image is transferred to the transfer paper side. There are known ones that clean the surface of the transfer material carrier with a cleaning means (for example, Japanese Patent Laid-Open Nos. 8-76680 and 8-110712).
[0003]
In the transfer device configured as described above, the transfer paper is carried on the transfer material carrier in contact with the transfer material, so that the paper dust of the transfer paper tends to adhere to the transfer material carrier. In addition, since the transfer paper is conveyed in contact with the image carrier at the transfer position, the paper dust on the transfer paper tends to adhere to the image carrier. When the paper dust adheres to the transfer material carrier and is transported to a cleaning blade that is a cleaning means for the transfer material carrier, a phenomenon occurs in which the paper dust accumulates or bites into the edge of the cleaning blade. In the portion where the paper dust on the edge of the cleaning blade is accumulated or encroached, the toner is easy to slip through, and the ability to clean the transfer material carrier decreases, resulting in poor cleaning. As a result, the transfer material carrier is soiled and the back surface of the transfer paper is soiled. Furthermore, the toner adhering to the transfer material carrier adheres to cracks and the like of the transfer material carrier, causing problems such as transfer paper conveyance failure and separation failure.
[0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
In order to solve the above problems, there is known an image forming apparatus that rotates a transfer material carrier in a direction opposite to that at the time of image formation in a state where the transfer material carrier and the image carrier are in contact with each other after image formation is completed. However, in this image forming apparatus, the amount of reversal of the transfer material carrier is constant. When the number of image formations set as one job by an operation unit of the image forming apparatus or an external signal is about 10 continuously, a small amount of paper dust accumulated or biting on the edge of the cleaning blade can be removed. However, when the number of image formations set as 1 JOB is large, such as 100 or more consecutive, a large amount of paper dust accumulates or bites, and with the above-mentioned fixed amount of reversal, the paper dust accumulated or bites on the edge of the cleaning blade Cannot be removed, causing cleaning defects. Such a problem occurs not only in the case where the cleaning unit is a cleaning blade, but also in the cleaning unit that performs cleaning by rubbing the surface of the transfer material carrier.
[0005]
The present invention has been made in view of the above problems, and its purpose is to remove the paper dust accumulated or entrapped in the cleaning means of the transfer material carrier so that the transfer material carrier can be satisfactorily cleaned. The present invention provides an image forming apparatus capable of maintaining and obtaining an image free from back stains and preventing transfer paper conveyance failure and separation failure, and a transfer device employed in the image forming apparatus.

However, in the present image forming apparatus, as described above, the toner is positively accumulated or entrapped in the cleaning unit, so that it is possible to prevent the cleaning unit from being worn or chipped as the reverse rotation increases.
[0030]
Claim8The invention of claim 17In this image forming apparatus, the step of forming a toner image on the transfer material carrier is performed a plurality of times.
[0031]
Claim8In this image forming apparatus, the process of forming a toner image on a transfer material carrier is performed a plurality of times, and the amount of toner deposited on or encroached on the cleaning means of the transfer material carrier is increased, thereby removing paper dust. Up.
[0032]
Claim9The invention of claim 17In the image forming apparatus, a plurality of toner images are formed on the image carrier, and the plurality of toner images are placed on the transfer material carrier in a state where the image carrier and the transfer material carrier are in contact with each other. And a toner image is formed on the transfer material carrier.
[0033]
Claim9In this image forming apparatus, toner images are created at arbitrary positions corresponding to positions where paper dust tends to accumulate in the cleaning means or positions where cleaning performance is poor in the axial direction of the image carrier. The toner image is transferred onto the transfer material carrier, and the toner is selectively deposited or bite into the cleaning means. By selectively depositing or encroaching toner on a position where the cleaning means tends to accumulate paper dust or a position where cleaning ability is poor, paper dust can be removed well.
In addition, the ability to remove paper dust is improved by creating a plurality of toner images in the rotational direction of the image carrier and increasing the amount of toner deposited or entrapped in the cleaning means.
[0034]
Claim 10The invention of claim 17In this image forming apparatus, a toner image having a variable length with respect to the rotation direction of the image carrier is formed on the image carrier according to the amount of paper dust accumulated or entrapped in the transfer material carrier cleaning means. It is characterized by having comprised so.
[0035]
Claim 10In this image forming apparatus, the amount of toner deposited or encroached on the cleaning means is changed according to the amount of paper dust accumulated or encroached on the cleaning means. In other words, when the amount of paper dust is small, the length of the toner image is shortened, a small amount of toner is accumulated or bite into the cleaning means, and a small amount of paper dust and toner are carried away together with the transfer material carrier, Remove paper dust. When the amount of paper dust is large, lengthen the toner image, increase the amount of toner that accumulates or bites into the cleaning means, and removes a large amount of paper dust and toner together with the transfer material carrier. Remove well. Further, when the amount of paper powder is large and the amount of reversal of the transfer material carrier is large, the cleaning means is easily worn or chipped. For this reason, by changing the amount of toner that accumulates or bites into the cleaning means, wear or chipping of the cleaning means during reverse rotation is prevented.
[0036]
Claim 11The invention of claim 17To claim 10In the image forming apparatus, the toner image is an image density detection toner pattern.
[0037]
Claim 11In this image forming apparatus, it is possible to create a toner image to be deposited or entrapped in the transfer material carrier cleaning means using the toner pattern creating means for detecting the image density of the image forming apparatus.
[0038]
Claim 12The invention of claim 17In this image forming apparatus, a toner image is formed on an image carrier at a position corresponding to a roller or a roller of a paper feeding device or a paper conveying device of the image forming device.
[0039]
Claim 12In this image forming apparatus, a toner image is created on an image carrier at a position corresponding to a roller or a roller of a paper feeding device or a paper transport device of the image forming device, and the toner image is transferred onto the transfer material carrier. Then, the transfer material carrier is positively deposited or bite into the cleaning means. In this image forming apparatus, the transfer paper is rubbed with a roller of a paper supply device, and the transfer paper is taken out from a paper supply tray or the like. In the paper transport device, the transfer paper is transported in contact with a transport roller or a relay roller. For this reason, a large amount of paper dust is generated at a position corresponding to the roller or roller of the paper feeding device or the paper transport device, and a lot of paper dust is accumulated or bites at a position corresponding to the roller or the roller of the cleaning means. Therefore, the toner particles are positively accumulated or entrapped at a position corresponding to the roller or the roller of the cleaning unit, and the toner and paper particles are taken away together by the transfer material carrier, so that the paper particles accumulated or entrapped in the cleaning unit are collected. Remove.
[0040]
Claim 13The present invention is the above-described claims 1 to 1.2In the image forming apparatus, the transfer material carrier is configured to be reversed while the transfer material carrier and the image carrier are in contact with each other.
[0041]
Claim 13In the image forming apparatus invention, after the image formation is completed, the transfer material carrier is reversed while the transfer material carrier and the image carrier are in contact with each other as in image formation. No need to move the body apart.
[0042]
Claim 14The present invention is the above-described claims 1 to 1.2In this image forming apparatus, the transfer material carrier is reversely rotated in a state where the transfer material carrier and the image carrier are separated from each other.
[0043]
Claim 14According to the image forming apparatus, since the transfer material carrier is reversed while the transfer material carrier and the image carrier are in contact with each other, the paper powder adhering to the image carrier when the transfer material carrier is reversed is transferred. There is no adhesion on the material carrier. For this reason, when the transfer material carrier is rotated in the same direction as that at the time of image formation, paper dust transferred from the image carrier is not newly deposited or bite into the cleaning means. Further, the driving torque when the transfer material carrier is reversed is reduced.
[0044]
Claim15The invention of claim 1 to claim 14In this image forming apparatus, the transfer material carrier is a transfer conveyance belt.
[0045]
Claim15In this image forming apparatus, a transfer conveyance belt is used as a transfer material carrier. In the transfer / conveying belt, when the paper dust accumulated or entrapped in the cleaning means causes poor cleaning, the belt is in a belt shape, so that the phenomenon that the toner adheres to the cracks easily occurs. Therefore, the paper dust accumulated or entrapped in the cleaning means is removed to prevent transfer paper transfer failure and separation failure.
