Description

【0001】

[Industrial application fields]
The present invention relates to a sealing material that seals a joint portion between a cover member of an engine mounted on an automobile or the like and a block member that is a counterpart member. Specifically, the sealing material is formed from an elastic gasket and a rigid insert material. The present invention relates to the improvement of the shape of the cover gasket.
[0002]
[Prior art]
2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, a gasket for sealing a cover member such as an engine head cover or an oil pan mounted on an automobile or the like is an annular shape having a cross-sectional shape such as a square or a round shape formed of an elastic body such as synthetic rubber, cork, or synthetic resin. Many gaskets are known.
These annular gaskets are mounted between a cover member and a block member and are tightened and attached by a fastening tool such as a bolt, and by the tightening, they are brought into close contact with each other member with their compression elastic deformation and exert a required sealing action. Yes.
[0003]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, such an annular gasket cannot meet various demands such as a recent demand for weight reduction of an engine and a demand for simplification of mounting.
That is, in recent years, there are many structures in which the cover member is formed of a synthetic resin material or a lightweight metal material due to demands for weight reduction, molding efficiency, vibration suppression, etc., and it is made thinner and lighter in order to demonstrate its superiority Tend to.
In such a lightweight synthetic resin or lightweight metal cover member, all of the load is applied to the flange portion of the narrow area which is the mating surface with the block member, and the block member is annular. When the cover member is tightened and attached with the gasket interposed therebetween, the structural weakened portion of the flange (for example, the span portion of the tightening bolt) loses the tightening pressure and may be distorted and move sideways.
Furthermore, in addition to the lateral escape movement, there is also a molding distortion that occurs during the molding of the original cover member, and the amount of deformation becomes a large one that cannot be ignored, and it is necessary to take fundamental measures for preventing deformation or maintaining the shape of the cover member. Yes.
[0004]
Further, the gasket made of an elastic material such as a synthetic rubber having a sufficient mass and improved deformation adhesion cannot maintain its shape correctly due to its softness, and is easy to handle, for example, for carrying or mounting on a cover member. In the automobile assembly line, since it is attached to the cover member after being attached to the cover member, the cover member is inverted and assembled, which may lead to gasket displacement, seal failure due to dropout, or more serious damage. There was a need for a safe mounting structure.
Furthermore, in recent years, there has been a demand for automatic mounting on the cover member using a robot or the like by attaching a gasket on the engine assembly line.
[0005]
Under such circumstances, a cover member has been proposed in which the required strength portion is squeezed or a reinforcing rib is added, but a cover member that still exhibits sufficient rigidity to satisfy a strong tightening force is obtained. It is not done.
As for the gasket, a composite gasket in which an insert material is inserted and integrated has been devised, but this structure does not work in the direction of adding sealing performance because the main focus is on handling.
The present invention has been made in view of such drawbacks, and an object of the present invention is to provide a cover gasket that can prevent deformation of the cover member, improve the handleability of the gasket, and improve the sealing performance.
[0006]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. As shown in FIG. 1, a mating surface as a contact portion between a cover member 1 such as a head cover or an oil pan of an automobile engine and a block member 2 such as a cylinder head or a cylinder block. A cover gasket 3 comprising an elastic gasket 3a, such as synthetic rubber or synthetic resin, which is mounted and compressed by the members 1 and 2, and an insert material 3b made of metal or hard synthetic resin which reinforces the gasket 3a. The insert material 3b having gaskets 3a on both upper and lower surfaces is extended at the inner peripheral portion and the outer peripheral portion, and the tip portions thereof are bent in opposite directions to form a hook portion 3c. The hook portion 3c Are respectively attached to the side surface of the cover member 1 and the side surface of the block member 2 by being clamped and tightened.
[0007]
The cover gasket 3 is composed of an elastic gasket 3a that is attached to the mating surface of the cover member 1 and the block member 2 and is compressed by the members 1 and 2 and an insert material 3b that reinforces the gasket 3a. As shown in FIG. 5, the insert material 3b is formed in an annular closed loop shape along the mating surface, and gaskets 3a are provided on both upper and lower surfaces thereof. Is extended and bent to form a hook portion 3c (showing the outer peripheral side in FIG. 5), and the hook portion 3 is hooked on either side surface of the cover member 1 or the lock member 2 to be tightened. Yes.
[0008]
Further, as shown in FIG. 2, a hook portion 3d that engages with the cover member 1 is formed at the tip of one hook portion 3c that restrains the cover member 1 of the insert material 3b.
[0009]
[Action]
As described above, in the present invention, the end portion of the insert material 3b, which is a reinforcing material, is extended in the circumferential direction to bend the hook portion 3c, and the hook portion 3c is attached to the side surface of the cover member 1 when assembled and mounted. The side surface of the block member 2 is constrained, and the shape of the cover member 1 that is swelled and deformed by the tightening pressure is maintained. Thus, the members 1 and 2, particularly the mating surface portion are pulled.
Further, when the insert material 3b has a closed loop shape along the mating surface, the closed loop shape itself becomes a strong structure, so that the hanging portion 3c can be disposed only on one side.
[0010]
Thus, when the shape of the cover member (1) is maintained with respect to the block member 2 and is fixed at an appropriate position, the gasket 3a formed on the insert material 3b is in close contact with the correct grounding shape and has an equal surface pressure. The stable sealing performance is exhibited while maintaining
[0011]
【Example】
In the cover gasket 3 of the present invention, as shown in FIG. 1, gaskets 3a that are in close contact with the mating surfaces of the cover member 1 and the block member 2 are arranged on both surfaces of the insert material 3b. In the molding, the desired shape of the insert material 3b is prepared in advance by press molding or the like, and then an elastic body such as rubber is used. The gasket 3a is molded and integrated.
[0012]
In shaping the hook portion 3c, the insert member 3b is provided in a circumferential shape or is partially scattered and arranged at important points. In FIG. 1, the end portion of the cover member 1 is simply bent in a crank shape. Although the structure is shown in which the flange and the end face of the block member 2 are fixed, various forms such as twisting or rib-shaped drawing can be performed.
As an example, in order to give a catching strength, a raised shape part 31c in which a notch as shown in FIG. 3 is made and a part is raised, or a notch piece is bent vertically as shown in FIG. The vertical nail shape portion 32c and the like can be modeled and selected according to the required situation and performance.
[0013]
Further, the insert material 3b may be provided in a closed loop shape as shown in FIG. 5. In this closed loop shape, the insert material 3 has a shape having an annular plane mass, and thus is highly resistant to stress from the peripheral side. Therefore, the insert member 3 itself absorbs the tensile stress of the hook portion 3 provided on one peripheral surface, so that the other hook portion 3c can be omitted. .
[0014]
Further, as a structure for temporarily fixing the cover gasket 3 to the cover member 1 and improving the assemblability to the block member 2, the tip of one hook portion 3c for restraining the cover member 1 of the insert material 3b is shown in FIG. As shown, when the hook portion 3d that engages with the cover member 1 is formed, the hook portion 3d engages and integrates with the mating surface portion of the cover member 1, so that the attachment workability when the cover member 1 is reversed is dramatically improved. Improve.
[0015]
【The invention's effect】
According to the present invention, the insert material 3b firmly grasps the cover member 1 and the block member 2 at the time of assembly due to its rigidity, and maintains the shape accurately without allowing the shape of the cover member 1 to be deformed even with a strong tightening torque. The gasket 3a can be brought into close contact with the proper position to exert a strong sealing force.
Further, since the insert material 3b is formed of a rigid material and has an extended portion, the cover gasket 3 can be prevented from being deformed, and can be conveyed by holding the extended portion or automatically assembled by a machine. It becomes.
The cover gasket 3 which is properly mounted while maintaining the accurate shape formed as described above maintains a uniform surface pressure with respect to the tightening pressure and promises high sealing performance and long-term durability.
