BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an optical scanning optical system, a multi-beam optical scanning optical system, and an image forming apparatus using the optical scanning optical system, and in particular, restricts a part of a light beam incident on a writing position synchronization signal detecting unit (BD sensor) by a light beam limiting unit. Thus, it is possible to obtain a high-precision print quality with no deviation of the print position in the main scanning direction, which is suitable for an apparatus such as a laser beam printer or a digital copying machine.

In such a scanning optical system, in order to accurately control the image writing position, it is common to provide a writing position synchronization signal detecting means immediately before writing the image signal.
[0005]
In FIG. 5, reference numeral 58 denotes a folding mirror (hereinafter referred to as “BD mirror”), and a BD sensor, which will be described later, emits a write position synchronization signal detection light beam for adjusting the timing of the scanning start position on the

[0007]
On the other hand, when the optical scanning optical system shown in FIG. 6 is arranged in the main body of the image forming apparatus, the writing position synchronization signal (hereinafter referred to as “BD signal”) is limited depending on the configuration of the main body and the handling of the electrical system. As shown in the figure, it may be necessary to detect on the opposite side of the first
[0008]
In general, in a scanning optical system as shown in FIGS. 5 and 6, in order to maintain good optical performance, a polygon is formed from the end of a light beam that reaches both ends (points U and L in the figure) of the image. The margin part up to the end in the longitudinal direction (main scanning direction) of the deflection surface 55a of the

In a normal scanning optical system,

It is common to become.
[0011]
Therefore, when it becomes necessary to arrange the scanning optical system as shown in FIG. 6, the BD signal must be detected in a direction with a small margin of the deflection surface 55a of the

[0014]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, in the optical scanning optical system having the above-described configuration, the eccentricity of the rotation axis of the polygon mirror, the variation in the processing accuracy of the longitudinal direction of each deflection surface of the polygon mirror, the variation in each surface, Since the amount of light reaching the BD sensor is likely to vary due to each deflection surface of the polygon mirror due to variations in the reflectance of each surface of the deposited film, particularly in the above-mentioned part, the printing position in the main scanning direction There has been a problem that misalignment is likely to occur.
[0015]
Hereinafter, this phenomenon will be described with reference to FIGS. FIG. 9A shows a timing chart of the BD signal (BD) and the laser drive signal (LD). Since the polygon mirror rotates at an equiangular speed, a BD signal is output every predetermined time, and a laser drive signal corresponding to each scanning line is sent after a lapse of a predetermined time t1 from this BD signal. Therefore, each scanning line always starts from the same position. Here, the BD signal is output after time t0 when the output of the BD sensor becomes equal to or higher than a certain slice level S as shown in FIG. A laser drive signal corresponding to each scanning line is sent after a lapse of a fixed time t1 from this point. Here, when the amount of light reaching the BD sensor varies due to the respective deflection surfaces of the polygon mirror for the reason described above, for example, as shown in FIG. It does not necessarily match and a time Δt shift occurs. Accordingly, the laser drive signal corresponding to each scanning line is also shifted by the time Δt, and as a result, the printing position is shifted in the main scanning direction.
[0016]
The same problem arises when the optical scanning optical system having the conventional configuration is used as a multi-beam scanning optical system using a plurality of light sources (light emitting portions).
[0017]
For example, when a general monolithic two-beam laser is used as a light source (for example, a multi-beam semiconductor laser), the distance between two light emitting points is as small as about 0.1 mm. In such a light source, if the light emitting points are arranged perpendicular to the sub-scanning direction, the distance between the spots in the sub-scanning direction of the imaging points corresponding to the two light emitting points on the surface to be scanned is 0.1 mm or more. I will leave. Here, when it is assumed that the resolution is 600 DPI, the spot interval in the sub-scanning direction on the surface to be scanned needs to be 42.3 μm. In this case, a so-called interlace scanning method must be adopted. In the case of interlaced scanning, as many memories as the number of lines to be skipped are required, resulting in an increase in cost. Therefore, as shown in FIG. 10, the two light emitting points are not arranged perpendicular to the sub-scanning direction, but on the scanned
[0018]
FIG. 11 shows the state of two light beams emitted from two light emitting points A and B (for example, an A laser having a light emitting point A and a B laser having a light emitting point B) when the light source is arranged in this manner. It is. If the light beam reaching the BD sensor is intentionally kicked and used by the
[0019]
In the present invention, a part of the light beam incident on the writing position synchronization signal detecting means (BD sensor) is appropriately restricted by the light beam restricting means, thereby obtaining a high-precision print quality with no deviation of the print position in the main scanning direction. It is an object of the present invention to provide an optical scanning optical system, a multi-beam optical scanning optical system, and an image forming apparatus using the same.
[0020]
