Description
【0001】
【0017】
本発明の縮合物は、上記(A)、(B)、(C)、(D)及びホルムアルデヒド類(E)をA:B=0.8:0.2〜0.9:0.1、かつ(A+B):C:D:E=1.0:0.3〜0.8:0.08〜0.3:1.8〜2.2のモル比でホルムアルデヒド縮合するのが望ましい。
【0022】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an industrial dispersant, and more particularly to a dispersant suitable for inorganic pigment slurries such as calcium carbonate and titanium oxide.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Inorganic pigments are used as water dispersions in various industries including the paper industry and the paint industry. Since this inorganic pigment / water slurry is usually at a high concentration, it is desired that the inorganic pigment / water slurry has low viscosity and high fluidity for high pumpability and storage stability, and high stability.
[0003]
Conventionally, sodium tripolyphosphate, sodium hexametaphosphate, polyacrylate, naphthalene sulfonic acid formaldehyde condensate, and the like have been used for these purposes.
[0004]
However, conventionally used dispersants do not necessarily have the above-mentioned effects. If the amount added is increased to increase these effects, the cost increases and other physical properties are adversely affected. There was a point.
[0005]
As a dispersant in these fields, a dispersant mainly composed of bisphenols, aminobenzenesulfonic acid, and a formaldehyde condensate of amino acids has been proposed (Japanese Patent No. 2696303). Although this dispersant has a very high dispersibility compared with the conventional one, the dispersibility is not satisfied even in this dispersant, and a higher dispersibility is required.
[0006]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
An object of the present invention is to provide a dispersant that gives particularly excellent dispersibility to an inorganic pigment and improves workability.
[0007]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
As a result of intensive studies on the above problems, the present inventor has found that the hydrophobicity of the dispersant skeleton can be optimized by copolymerizing a phenol having a lower hydrophobicity than bisphenol and introducing a carboxyl group with an amino acid. . Furthermore, by controlling the molecular weight to be optimized, the present invention has led to the invention of a dispersant exhibiting higher dispersibility than ever in the inorganic pigment slurry.
[0008]
That is, the present invention provides a phenol represented by the following general formula (1) and / or a salt thereof (A),
[Formula 4]
R 1 ; hydrogen, hydroxyl group, alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, bisphenols represented by the following general formula (2) and / or a salt thereof (B),
[Chemical formula 5]
X: —CH 2 —, —C (CH 3 ) 2 —, —SO 2 —
Aminobenzenesulfonic acids represented by the following general formula (3) and / or a salt thereof (C),
[Chemical 6]
R 2 : a condensate obtained by addition polymerization of hydrogen or an alkyl group amino acid having 1 to 4 carbon atoms and / or a salt thereof (D) and formaldehyde, having a weight average molecular weight of 10,000 to 40,000 and an aqueous condensate solution The present invention provides a dispersant for inorganic pigments characterized in that it contains a condensate in which the amount of formaldehyde is 0.5% by weight or less.
[0009]
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Examples of the phenols represented by the general formula (1) and / or a salt thereof (A) used in the present invention include phenol, pyrocatechol, m-catechol, guaiacol, or methyl, ethyl, propyl, isopropyl, butyl, isobutyl. And alkylphenols having 1 to 4 carbon atoms such as t-butyl. In the present invention, phenol is particularly suitable.
[0010]
The bisphenols represented by the above general formula (2) and / or their salts (B) are 4,4'-dihydroxydiphenylmethane, 2,2-bis (4-hydroxyphenyl) propane, 4,4'-dihydroxydiphenyl. Examples include sulfone.
[0011]
Examples of the aminobenzenesulfonic acids and / or salts (C) thereof represented by the general formula (3) include 4-aminobenzenesulfonic acid, 2-amino5-methylbenzenesulfonic acid, and the like. 2-Aminobenzenesulfonic acid is suitable.
[0012]
Amino acids and / or salts thereof (D) can be glutamic acid, glycine, alanine, iminodiacetic acid, aminobutyric acid, and the like.
[0013]
As the formaldehyde, a formaldehyde aqueous solution (formalin) is usually used, but a formaldehyde derivative such as paraformaldehyde may be used.
[0014]
It is essential that the dispersant for inorganic pigments of the present invention has a weight average molecular weight of 10,000 to 40,000 and the amount of formaldehyde in the condensate reaction solution is 0.5% by weight or less. If it is out of this range, satisfactory dispersibility cannot be obtained.
[0015]
The weight average molecular weight in the present invention can be easily measured by a gel permeation chromatography (GPC) method using polyethylene glycol as a standard substance.
[0016]
The amount of formaldehyde in the aqueous condensate solution can be measured using a known method such as the phloroglucin method or the acetylacetone method or a commercially available kit (manufactured by Wako Pure Chemical Industries, Ltd.).
[0017]
The condensate of the present invention comprises the above (A), (B), (C), (D) and formaldehydes (E) with A: B = 0.8: 0.2 to 0.9: 0.1, And it is desirable to perform formaldehyde condensation at a molar ratio of (A + B): C: D: E = 1.0: 0.3 to 0.8: 0.08 to 0.3: 1.8 to 2.2. If the condensation is out of the above range, unreacted phenols or aminobenzene sulfonic acids increase, resulting in a decrease in dispersibility.
[0018]
The reaction is carried out under aqueous conditions at normal pressure or under pressure at 50-130 ° C. for 5-50 hours.
[0019]
When synthesizing the inorganic pigment dispersant of the present invention, it is necessary to add an alkali such as sodium hydroxide from the viewpoint of advancing the reaction. As the alkali to be used, potassium hydroxide, calcium hydroxide, ammonia, ammonium hydroxide and the like can be used in addition to sodium hydroxide. The alkali addition amount is preferably 0.8 to 2.4 molar equivalents relative to the total number of moles of the component (A) and the component (B).
[0020]
The dispersant for inorganic pigments of the present invention is added at the time of preparing a slurry of calcium carbonate, titanium oxide or the like, and the addition rate is desirably 0.1 to 5.0% by weight with respect to the inorganic pigment. If the addition amount is less than this, the dispersion effect is small, and if it is added excessively, the slurry viscosity increases.
[0021]
Although the dispersant of the present invention exhibits good performance as a dispersant only with the above-mentioned condensate, it should be used in combination with naphthalene sulfonic acid formaldehyde condensate, melamine sulfonic acid formaldehyde condensate, lignin sulfonic acid, etc. which are conventional dispersing agents. You can also. When these are used in combination, there is no particular problem as long as the desired effect on the above-mentioned problems is not impaired, but preferably the condensate is 20% by weight or more.
[0022]
【Example】
Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in more detail with reference to examples, but the present invention is not limited thereto.

To this solid liquid, 202.7 parts (2.50 mol) of a 37% aqueous formaldehyde solution was added dropwise at a temperature of 100 ° C. over 1 hour, and further reacted at that temperature for 20 hours to obtain a condensate aqueous solution of a comparative synthesis example.
[0034]
Table 3 shows the weight average molecular weight of the condensate obtained by the methods of Synthesis Example 1-6 and Comparative Example 1-4, and the measurement results of the amount of formaldehyde in the aqueous condensate solution.

The dispersant of the present invention obtained in Synthesis Example 1-6, the dispersant obtained in Comparative Example 1-5, and naphthalene sulfonic acid formaldehyde condensate (Mighty 150 manufactured by Kao Corporation) were used as Comparative Example 6. Then, an inorganic pigment dispersibility test was conducted as follows. The results are shown in Table 4.
[0037]
[Inorganic pigment dispersibility test]
-After adding 275 g of calcium carbonate (trade name PZ, manufactured by Shiroishi Kogyo Co., Ltd.) over a period of 1 minute, a total of 225 g of calcium carbonate dispersibility test water and a predetermined amount of dispersant was collected and prepared, and then a homomixer (special The mixture was stirred at 8000 rpm for 20 minutes using TK manufactured by Meika Kogyo Co., Ltd., and the viscosity of the slurry was measured with a B-type viscometer.
・ Titanium oxide dispersibility test water and a predetermined amount of dispersant were collected in a total of 200 g, and after adding 300 g of titanium oxide (trade name CR-90, manufactured by Ishihara Sangyo Co., Ltd.) over 1 minute, homomixer Was stirred at 8000 rpm for 20 minutes, and the viscosity of the slurry was measured with a B-type viscometer.

【The invention's effect】
From the above examples, the viscosity of the dispersant of the present invention can be reduced by adding it to the calcium carbonate and titanium oxide slurry as compared with the dispersant of the comparative example. From these results, it is clear that the dispersant for inorganic pigments of the present invention exhibits an excellent effect.
