板状蓋は、図1のように、単板の板状体2に切り込みを入れた凹部22からなる取っ手3を有するものである。取っ手3は、板状体2の側面4と上面5のコーナ部21から内部に切り込まれた凹部22から成っている。

板状体2は、熱硬化性樹脂発泡体中に繊維を配置したものである。樹脂は、ウレタン、フェノール樹脂、尿素樹脂などが使用できる。繊維は、ガラス繊維、炭素繊維、合成繊維などが使用できる。繊維の形状は、ロービング、ロービングクロス、コンティニュアンストランドマットなどが使用できる。板状体には、樹脂と繊維の他に、充填材などを入れてもよい。
