Description

新たな時間指数をv=n−i−jと定義することにより、v=v+i+jとなる。
これにより、el(v+i+j)の(I−1+J−1)まで進んだ値が要求される。
The present invention relates to an adaptive control system and an adaptive control method for plant control. More particularly, the present invention relates to an adaptive control system using an adaptive response filter that operates in the time domain.
The basic principle of plant closed loop adaptive control is to monitor the plant output and modify the plant control signal so that the output signal from the plant converges to a desired level. In this way, the plant is controlled and performs the desired operation.
In this specification, the term “plant” is used as a control system term for a system having at least one input and at least one output. Here, each input has a certain influence on each output.
As one control configuration particularly suitable for feedforward control of a plant, a filtered x algorithm is generally known. The principles for this are described on pages 288-292 of the textbook "Adaptive Signal Processing" by Bernard Widlow and Samuel D. Stearns (1985, published by Prentice, NJ). FIG. 1 illustrates the principle of a feedforward control system that operates using a filtered x algorithm. In the figure, a reference signal x (n) is input to the adaptive filter W, and a drive or control signal y (n) for the plant C is generated. The plant output is compared to the desired signal. In the feedforward configuration, this desired signal is the reference signal x (n) that has passed through another signal path A. Error signal e (n) represents the difference between the desired signal and the output of plant C. This signal is fed into a least mean square (LMS) algorithm. The LMS updates the coefficients of the adaptive response filter W in order to reduce the difference, i.e. the error signal e (n).
The LMS algorithm requires input from the reference signal x (n) in order to update the coefficients of the adaptive response filter W using only the error signal e (n) correlated with the reference signal x (n).
However, since the plant C has an impulse response, a delay occurs in the error signal e (n), and as a result, a time shift occurs with respect to the reference signal x (n). Therefore, in order to realign the reference signal x (n) with the error signal e (n) in time, the reference signal x (n)
To obtain a filtered reference signal r (n). As a result, the plant
Is sufficiently accurate, the filtered reference signal r (n) is delayed by the same amount as the error signal e (n). The filtered reference signal r (n) is provided to the LMS algorithm and the error signal e (n) is correlated with respect to the reference signal x (n).
In the description of the filtered x algorithm by Widlow and Stearns, and in the above description, a single channel control system, ie, a single reference signal x (n), a single control signal y (n), and a single error signal e (n Only) is considered. However, the filtered x algorithm is equally applicable to multi-channel systems as disclosed in WO 88/02912. In such a multi-channel filtered x algorithm, there are KxM adaptive response filter coefficients. Here, K is the number of reference signals, and M is the number of control signals. In addition, the model
Not only model a single response of one error signal e (n) to one control signal y (n), but also each control signal y m Each error signal e for (n) l It is necessary to model multiple responses of (n).
Plant response for both single-channel and multi-channel filtered x algorithms
This model can be suitably implemented in a manner based on the use of an adaptive response filter with an appropriate number J of coefficients to model the delay. LxMxJ for multi-channel filtered x algorithm
There are filter coefficients.
The LMS algorithm is generally well known and is described in detail in Chapter 6 (pages 99-116) of the textbook by Widlow and Stearns. This algorithm reduces the sum of the square values of L error signals by updating the coefficients of the adaptive response filter W. Here, each error signal is affected by the output of each drive signal M. Thus, in the conventional multiple error LMS algorithm, for adaptive adjustment of the adaptive response filter W, it is necessary to generate K × L × M filtered reference signals.
In the filtered xLMS algorithm, the l-th sampled error signal e l (N) can be expressed by the following equation.
Where d l (N) is the disturbance at the l-th error signal when not controlled, y m (N) is the nth input signal, and the response of the lth error signal to the nth drive signal is the coefficient
Is modeled as a J coefficient finite impulse response (FIR) filter.
The mth control signal is represented by the following equation.
Where x k (N) is the sampled kth reference signal, w mki Is the i th coefficient of the FIR control filter that supplies the m th control signal from the k th reference signal.
The l-th error signal can be expressed as a quadruple summation as follows.
The purpose of the adaptive LMS algorithm is to adjust each control filter coefficient to minimize the sum of the squared error signals. This can be referred to as a cost function. Coefficient w mki The numerator of this cost function with respect to
w mik By differentiating
In Equation 5, an instantaneous estimate of the slope of the cost function is used in the same way as in the Wiedlow and Stearns filtered x algorithm.
This is the multiple error LMS algorithm disclosed in WO88 / 02912, the algorithm used so far to perform the above adaptation. In this algorithm, each kth reference signal is filtered by a J coefficient FIR filter model, and a filtered reference signal is obtained as follows.
As a result, the estimated instantaneous slope of the cost function can be expressed as follows.
Thus, each adaptive response filter coefficient w mki Is updated for each sample n by an amount proportional to the negative value of the instantaneous slope estimate, and the following equation is obtained.
Here, μ is a convergence coefficient.
As is apparent from Equations 6 and 8, the conventional multiple error LMS filtered x algorithm needs to generate KxLxM filtered reference signals for adaptive adjustment.
Accordingly, the inventors of the present application have focused on the following points. That is, if the time realignment of the error signal and the reference signal can be realized by filtering the error signal, the filtering operation can be reduced by a factor of K in the case of a control system having a large number of reference signals. The computation required for adaptive control can be greatly reduced.
The present invention provides an adaptive control system for plant control including: That is, an input signal means for supplying at least one input signal for controlling the plant, and a plurality of time domain filter coefficients, and filtering at least each of the input signals to control the plant Adaptive response filter means for generating one control signal, wherein the control causes the plant to generate at least one required output signal, and a plurality of time domain filters that model the response of the plant Model filter means having coefficients, and using the filter coefficients to filter each output signal in a relatively reverse time sequence to provide at least one filtered output signal; and receiving each input signal And delay means for delaying the same for a predetermined time. The adaptive response filter further receives each delayed input signal and correlates it with each filtered output signal, and uses the correlation result to adjust the filter coefficients of the adaptive response filter means, The control signals are adjusted so that the output signals converge in the required level direction.
The present invention has the following effects. That is, it is the error signal that the model filter filters, and the input signal or reference signal is not filtered. In the case of an adaptive control system with a large number of input signals or reference signals, this can considerably reduce the processing.
In one embodiment, the adaptive response filter means correlates each delayed input signal and each filtered output signal by forming a cross correlation estimate between the signals. Preferably, each cross-correlation estimate is multiplied by a sufficiently small convergence coefficient to smooth the influence of random errors in each cross-correlation estimate with respect to adjustment of the filter coefficient of the adaptive response filter means. Further preferably, the adaptive response filter means adjusts the filter coefficients of the adaptive response filter means using a least mean square algorithm, such as a derivative of Widow's LMS algorithm.
In one embodiment, the delay means delays each of the input signals by a time substantially equal to the maximum time delay obtained from the model filter means. If the model filter means is a J coefficient FIR filter, this delay matches the time delay associated with the J th coefficient, and each said output signal is in reverse time order, i.e., a coefficient from 0 to (J-1). Filtered in order of coefficients from (J-1) to 0, not in order.
In another embodiment, the delay means delays each of the input signals by a time substantially equal to the sum of the maximum time delay obtained from the model filter means and the maximum time delay obtained from the adaptive response filter means. . If the adaptive response filter means is an I coefficient FIR filter and the model filter means is a J coefficient FIR filter, the input signal matches the maximum time delay obtained by the convolution of the J and I coefficient FIR filters. Delayed by time.
The present invention is particularly applicable to feedforward adaptive control in which the input means supplies at least one signal representative of at least a selected signal input to the plant. This signal need not provide complete information about the amplitude and phase of the selected signal. For example, for periodic signals it is sufficient to indicate the frequency. If such a signal is not desired, at least one control signal obtained by filtering each of the input signals by an adaptive response filter means is supplied to the plant and the unwanted signal in the plant is dynamically attenuated. Let
The present invention can be applied to any plant dynamic control system, but in one aspect thereof, the present invention can be applied to the following dynamic control system. That is, the plant outputs at least one first signal in response to an output from at least one first converter that receives each control signal, an acoustic medium, and each first converter. The model filter means models the responses from the first and second transducers and the acoustic medium. The adaptive control system used in such a plant is particularly suitable for dynamic noise control and reduces the sum of the squares of the output signal to zero or a specific desired level by adapting the filter coefficients of the adaptive response filter means. Can do.
The present invention further provides a plant adaptive control method including the following. That is, filtering at least one input signal using adaptive response filter means having time domain filter coefficients, wherein the filtering generates at least one control signal, the control signal controlling the plant, As a result, the plant generates at least one output signal and filters each output signal using model filter means having a plurality of time domain filter coefficients that model the response of the plant, A filtering step including filtering each output signal in a relatively reverse time sequence using the filter coefficients of the model filter means; delaying each input signal for a predetermined time; and each delayed input Correlating a signal to each filtered output signal; and So it converges to required level direction, comprising the steps of: adjusting the control signals by adjusting the filter coefficients of the adaptive response filter means using the result of the correlation.

First, a description will be given with reference to FIG. Many of the elements shown in this figure are similar to those described above with respect to FIG. 1 and the prior art filtered xLMS algorithm, with the difference being that in FIG. 2 the reference signal x ( n) delay device Z -△ J-coefficient FIR filter model that is delayed by time and delayed and time-reversed
Is used to filter the error signal e (n) before it is input to the LMS algorithm. The delay device Δ is similarly applied to both the reference signal x (n) and the error signal e (n), and is an inverse time filter.
Combined with.
In the past, it was highly desirable to update the LMS algorithm immediately, but in the present invention this need not be done immediately. The inventor has recognized that in order to generate the correlation between the reference signal and the error signal in the most suitable way, the time and number of samples in which the update is performed are changed, i.e. the update element part is delayed.
If the delay is not substantially longer than the delay in the plant, this is no less inferior to the standard filtered xLMS algorithm.
According to Equation 5 of the above-described filtered xLMS algorithm, the instantaneous slope estimated value is obtained by the following equation by substituting v = n−j.
Since the reference signal x does not depend on j in this way, the instantaneous slope estimated value can be expressed as follows.
Substitution formula to delay the reference and error sequence by J-1.
Where
Is the new number of samples for updating, the instantaneous slope estimate is:
In order to recalculate the sum as a standard convolution with respect to j (over j), the following equation is obtained by putting the substitution equation p = J−j−i, ie, j = J−p−1, into Equation 11.
By substituting the more commonly used sample number n and the convolution variable j, the above equation becomes:
As a result, the complete equation for updating the FIR filter coefficients is
In Equation 15,
Is in time-reversed and delayed form
Filter, x k (Ni−J + 1) is Z in FIG. -△ I.e., the kth reference signal x (n-i) delayed by J-1 samples.
From equation 15, it can be seen that this algorithm for updating the coefficients of the adaptive response filter is more computationally efficient. This is because, unlike the filtered xLMS algorithm shown in Equation 8, the reference signal x is not included in the addition in this algorithm.
FIG. 3a shows the theoretical impulse response of plant C modeled as a J coefficient FIR filter with J time domain coefficients, where t is the delay time. FIG. 3b shows a J-coefficient FIR filter with time reversed, ie a time reversed impulse response, which is a time advanced response. Implementing such a filter requires a high degree of unavailable knowledge about the error signal e (n). FIG. 3c is a delayed version of the inverse time filter of FIG. 3b. Since this filter is sufficiently delayed, only the current and past values of the error signal e (n) are required for its implementation. Model filter each error signal
The filter becomes causal by delaying the appropriate reference signal x (n) by J-1 samples, which is the maximum time width associated with the filter coefficient of the model filter. .
In the case of a single channel adaptive control system, no further computing power is required in the filtered error algorithm according to the present invention. However, a buffer for both the reference input signal x (n) and the error signal e (n) is required for use as a delay line. On the other hand, in the case of a multi-channel adaptive control system, the filtered error algorithm according to the present invention is much more computationally efficient as described below. Regarding the delay of the reference signal and the error signal, a delay also occurs in updating the coefficient of the adaptive response filter w depending on the delay in the model of the plant C. However, in order to stabilize the system, the coefficient of the adaptive response filter w should not be updated within the maximum delay time obtained from the plant. For this reason, this is not a practical limitation.
Another algorithm can be used to achieve time reversal of the J coefficient FIR filter model. By defining a new time index as v = n−i−j, v = v + i + j.
As a result, the slope of Equation 5 becomes as follows.
Additive to x k By taking (v), the following equation is obtained.
This allows e l A value of (v + i + j) advanced to (I-1 + J-1) is required. For this reason, both e (n) x and (n) are delayed by (I + J−2) so that the update can be realized. This is
This can be done by substituting As a result, the following equation is obtained.
Can be used to obtain a more general update equation.
The following can be seen from the above equation. That is, the reference signal is external to the double addition, and therefore it is not necessary to evaluate the double addition for each reference signal as in the filtered x algorithm, and the double addition only needs to be evaluated once. Double addition to function f m By substituting (ni), the update equation is obtained as follows.
Thus, in this algorithm, both the reference signal and the error signal are delayed by J + I−2. In this algorithm, the delay of the error signal is built into the filter operation with respect to the previous (first) algorithm.
In the second algorithm, the reference LMS type update in which one value of the error signal is multiplied by a continuous past value of the reference signal to update the adaptive response filter w is not used. In the second algorithm, an update of the adaptive response filter w is formed by multiplying one value of the reference signal by the time advanced sequence of the error signal.
In any of the filtered error algorithms used by the adaptive control system, the reference signal x (n) is delayed and time inverted. The error signal e (n) is then filtered using the delayed model filter. The filtering in the adaptive response filter and the model filter is performed in the time domain. The filtered error algorithm uses a dummy time variable to match the reference signal and the error signal. Although this match is required, the product of the two variables is only an instantaneous slope estimate of the mean error, so there is no need to match the adaptation time exactly.
The second filtered error algorithm also has the same computational efficiency as the first algorithm, but requires more memory. This is because a larger buffer is required to store the J + I-2 delayed reference and error signals.
The table below shows the number of multiplications required to implement the conventional filtered reference algorithm and filtered error algorithm. In the table, K is the number of reference signals, M is the number of control signals, L is the number of error signals, and the response of the error signal to each control signal is modeled as a J coefficient FIR filter. Has I coefficients for each control signal and reference signal.
As can be seen from Table 1, the filtered error algorithm is much more computationally efficient. For example, if J = I = 64, K = 8, L = 8, and M = 4, the operation of the filtered error algorithm is one-eighth of the conventional x filtered algorithm.
Such a speed difference is a time difference required for updating the coefficient of the adaptive response filter W. It should be noted that this estimation of speed increase is conservative because the amount of digital data that needs to be moved around by the adaptive control system is reduced.
Figures 4, 5 and 6 show three control systems each having the following number of signals.
1) Two reference signals, one control signal, and one error signal.
2) One reference signal, one control signal, and two error signals.
3) One reference signal, two control signals, and one error signal.
These three figures show that in a multi-channel system having a plurality of reference, control and error signals, a complex system as shown is provided. In the system shown, the reference, control, and error signals are a matrix of inverse time filter coefficients.
And a matrix w of adaptive response filter coefficients mki It is affected by. Note that the configurations shown in FIGS. 4, 5 and 6 are multi-channels of the single channel system shown in FIG.
So far, only the general principle of operation of the adaptive control system operating according to the filtered error LMS algorithm has been considered, but in the control system of the present invention, the plant C is an acoustic system and FIGS. A has a specific practical application that represents the acoustic path of the first vibration source. In such an acoustic system, the control signal y (n) represents a signal that drives the converter to generate an acoustic second sound source in the plant C. The acoustic signal passing through the path A is actually input to the plant C, and interference occurs between the first sound source and the second sound source. Thus, in FIGS. 2, 4, 5 and 6, the output of the plant and the so-called desired signal (however, this is an expression in control system terminology and can also be an undesirable signal in an acoustic system). Is carried out outside the plant C, but this can also be carried out inside the plant. In this acoustic system, by providing the second transducer, the interference between the first vibration and the second vibration is measured, and the error signal e (n) is supplied. In this way, the J-factor FIR filter models all paths between the second vibration source and the error sensor, thus providing a model of plant delay and reverberation response.
A practical dynamic vibration control system used in an automobile is schematically shown in FIG. FIG. 7 shows four reference signal generators 31. 1 ~ 31 Four 4 error sensors 42 1 ~ 42 Four , And two

In FIG. 7, the
In the configuration of FIG. 7, a system for canceling road noise sent from a road wheel of an automobile is shown. However, this system can also be used for canceling engine noise. In that case, one reference signal indicative of noise generated by the engine of the automobile is supplied. In this example, only one reference signal is needed, so the potential computational savings of the algorithm cannot be fully exploited.
The configuration shown in FIG. 7 is applicable not only to automobiles but also to any vehicle such as an aircraft having a plurality of engines. In this case, since a plurality of reference signals are supplied for each engine one by one, it is possible to fully utilize the arithmetic savings by the algorithm of the present invention.
The secondary vibration source shown in FIG. 7 is a speaker, but a vibrator or a combination of both can also be used.
Furthermore, not only in the control system having the specific configuration shown in FIG. 7, but in any control system according to the present invention, the input signal or reference signal need not accurately represent the desired signal input to the plant. This is because the correct amplitude and phase of the control signal can be obtained by adapting the filter coefficient of the adaptive response filter.
