Description
【0001】
FIFO(First−IN First−Out)、34はFIFOから出力された画像データに画像処理を施す画像補正・処理部(RCU部34)、20は第一面側の画像メモリであるDRAM54及び第二面側の画像メモリであるDRAM37を画像メモリとして、第1面側の画像データと第2面の画像データを交互に(面順次に)ユーザインターフェースに対して転送するように制御するメモリ制御部(SCU部20)である。
【0047】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an image reading apparatus, and more particularly to an image reading apparatus capable of reducing power consumption of the apparatus by controlling power supply inside the apparatus in accordance with a requested operation.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In recent years, with the development of image information processing technology that handles image information such as an electronic filing system, the digitization of documents is rapidly spreading. As a result, in image input devices for digitizing so-called paper documents, in addition to demands for higher image quality and higher speed, demands for reading means for double-sided originals are increasing. Furthermore, power saving has become an important issue from the viewpoint of environmental protection and efficient use of energy, and it is desired to reduce power consumption as much as possible.
[0003]
JP-A-3-3564 discloses a “facsimile apparatus” as an image reading apparatus of Conventional Example 1 that can read a double-sided original document once at once. The facsimile apparatus according to the conventional example 1 is characterized in that image information printed on both sides of a document is simultaneously read by one scanning of the document and is transmitted separately on the front side and the back side.
[0004]
Further, as means for reducing power consumption when the apparatus is on standby, there is a “power saving method for a data processing apparatus” disclosed in Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 3-129508, which is a conventional example 2. In the power saving method of the data processing apparatus of the second conventional example, when the idling state has passed for a certain period of time, the apparatus state is stored and then the power is turned off to reduce wasteful power consumption when the idling state continues for a long time. It is a feature.
[0005]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, in the facsimile apparatus of Conventional Example 1 described above, when one side of a document is read, the power consumed by the reading system on the side where reading is not performed is substantially wasted power, but depending on the reading mode. No reference has been made to the point of controlling power supply and saving power.
[0006]
In addition, in such an image reading apparatus capable of reading both sides of a document, in order to maintain the throughput, a reversing mechanism for reversing the document is not mounted, and it is possible to read image information on both sides of the document with a single document transport. In order to achieve this, a means for achieving throughput by preparing a memory unit for temporarily storing image information for each reading surface of the first side and the second side of the document and controlling them has been proposed. Yes.
[0007]
However, the above means prepares two circuit configurations from the sensor unit for reading the image information on the document to immediately before the image data is transferred to the user interface. In particular, when an equal magnification type contact sensor is used for reading one side of a document in order to reduce the size of the entire apparatus, it is generally disclosed in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 8-242368 to operate the equal magnification type contact sensor at high speed. In many cases, a means for dividing one line into a plurality of blocks and transferring the sensor output of each block in parallel is used as disclosed in Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 2003-26083. Since the outputs are subjected to image correction and the like, combined into one line and then combined as a plane, the circuit scale may not necessarily be small.
[0008]
In other words, the overall size of the apparatus can be reduced in size because it does not have a document reversing mechanism, but wasteful power is consumed depending on the selected operation mode from the viewpoint of power consumption. Become.
[0009]
