フルオロアセトンは色材、香料、医農薬等の中間体として有用な化合物である。フルオロアセトンの従来の合成方法としては、例えば、工業化学雑誌59<1956>395に開示されているクロロアセトンとフッ化カリウムを170〜190℃という高温で反応させて製造する方法、J.Mol.Struct.,159<1987>記載のような同反応をethan−1,2−diol中で行う方法、また、J.Fluorine Chem.,15<1980>,423−434記載のようにブロモアセトンとトリエチルアミンの3HF塩を反応させて合成する方法等が知られている。これらの方法の原料となるクロロアセトンは化学大辞典によると、冷アセトンに塩化カルシウム存在下で塩素を通じる、またはジケテンに塩素を作用させたのち、水と煮沸しても得られることが示されている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
このように、従来のフルオロアセトンの製造方法は、先ず最初にアセトンに塩素または臭素を反応させてクロロアセトンまたはブロモアセトンを合成したのち、次にこれとフッ素化試剤のKFまたはEt3N・3HFを高温で反応させて合成している。
これらの方法は二段階の反応を要する点、また、原料のクロロアセトンまたはブロモアセトンの製造において、腐食性の強いハロゲン化水素が発生するため、工業的規模での実施に際しては特殊な反応容器を必要とし、アルカリ洗浄塔等の設備を備えなければならない等、技術的または経済的な問題点を抱えていた。
