【従来の技術】
鉛筆やシャープペンシルの筆跡を消去する消しゴムには、天然ゴム、合成ゴム、サブなどを成分とするゴム系のものと、塩化ビニル、ポリ塩化ビニル等のプラスチック樹脂及び可塑剤を主成分とするプラスチック系のものがあるが、プラスチック系消しゴムはゴム系のものと比較して成形性、消字性、安定性等の点で優れていることから従来より広く用いられている。

この種の消しゴムで鉛筆やシャープペンシルの筆跡を消去できるのは、消しゴムで筆跡を擦過したときに筆跡を形成する芯の摩耗粉末が消しゴム表面や消しゴム屑の表面に再付着することにより紙面から取り除かれるからであり、プラスチック系の消しゴムが柔軟性に富むことは優れた消字性に寄与する主要な要因となっている。したがって、良好な消字性を得るためにはプラスチック系消しゴムを柔軟に形成する必要があるが、柔軟性に富むプラスチック系消しゴムは曲げ強度が弱いという欠点があり、特に細棒状に形成すると折れたり欠けたりしやすいため、シャープペンシル等の替消しゴム等に適用することが難しい。

そこで従来より消しゴムの消字性を損なわずに強度を高めるための試みがなされており、例えば字消し基材に微細な繊維等の補強材を配合したもの(特公昭62−47720号、特開平5−131795号、実開平5−80790号等)や、樹脂と可塑剤を主成分とする基材に重合性ビニルモノマーを配合し内部に網目構造の重合物を形成するもの(特公平3−57123号)や、硬さの異なる複数種の字消し材を粒子状に分散させて一体化したもの(特公平8−5275号)や、無機質材、バインダー、穴開け剤等を原料として形成する自己摩耗性多孔質材にプラスチックゾルを含浸させて加熱ゲル化したもの(特開平8−258493号)などが知られている。

しかしながら、上記のプラスチック系消しゴムにおいては何れも消字性に富む軟質の字消し材が消しゴムの内部及び表面全体にわたり略均等に分布しているため、消しゴムを細棒形状としたときには応力集中を受ける外周面にクラックを生じやすく、且つ、そのクラックが内部まで拡大しやすいため、所期目的を達成することが難しい。

上記の問題点に鑑み、本発明は、曲げ強度に優れ、しかも良好な消字性を備えたプラスチック系の消しゴムを提供することを課題とするものである。

【課題を解決するための手段】
上記課題を解決するために、本発明においては、共にプラスチック樹脂と可塑剤を主成分とする消字性に優れた軟質の消字材と強度に優れた硬質の消字材とからなる細棒形状の消しゴムであって、硬質の消字材と軟質の消字材がそれぞれ細棒形状の全長にわたり連続して延びており、且つ、硬質の消字材が筒状の外殻壁と、該外殻壁の内周面間を連結して該外殻壁の内部を複数の部屋に区画する隔壁とを形成しており、前記軟質の消字材は前記隔壁と前記外殻壁とで囲まれる各部屋に充填されて一体に形成されていることを特徴としている。

上記構成によれば、消字性に優れた軟質の消字材と強度に優れた硬質の消字材とがそれぞれ細棒形状の全長にわたり連続して延びているので、長さ方向における何れの箇所においても消字性に優れた軟質の消字材を鉛筆やシャープペンシルの筆跡上に直接密着させて擦過させることができる。一方、強度の強い硬質の消字材が細棒形状の全長にわたり連続して延びて細棒形状の外周面を全周にわたり補強する外殻壁を形成しているので、軟質の消字材による優れた消字性を確保しつつ強度に優れた硬質の消字材により消しゴムの特に外周部を補強することができる。したがって、曲げや折れに強く且つ消字性に優れたプラスチック系の消しゴムを提供することができる。

また、強度に優れた硬質の消字材が細棒形状の全長にわたり筒状の外殻壁とその内周面間を連結する隔壁を形成するので、全長にわたり軟質の消字材による優れた消字性を確保しつつ、消字性に優れた軟質の消字材を硬質の消字材で形成した筒状の外殻壁で保護及び補強することができ、特に細棒形状の消しゴム外周にクラックの生じにくい構造とすることができるとともに、強靱な外殻及び骨格補強構造の細棒状消しゴムを得ることができる。

以下、図面を参照して本発明の実施例を説明する。

図1及び図2は本発明による消しゴムの一実施例を示したものである。これらの図を参照すると、この実施例の消しゴムは全体に細長い円柱形状を有しており、共にプラスチック樹脂と可塑剤を主成分とする硬質の消字材1と軟質の消字材2とが各々全長にわたり連続して延びている。硬質の消字材1は筒状の外殻壁1aと、この外殻壁1aの全長にわたって更に筒状の外殻壁1aの内周面間を連結する断面略十字形の隔壁1bとを形成しており、軟質の消字材2は消しゴムの全長にわたりこれら外殻壁1aと隔壁1bとの間に充填配置されて外殻壁1a及び隔壁1bと一体に形成されている。この消しゴムにおける硬質及び軟質の消字材1,2はその長さ方向における何れの箇所においてもほぼ同一の断面形状をなしている。

硬質及び軟質の消字材1,2はプラスチック樹脂に可塑剤を混合し、さらに必要に応じて充填材、安定剤、顔料、香料等を添加し均一に攪拌混合したものを、加熱し押出成形することによってゲル化させ一体成形したものである。プラスチック樹脂基材には、一般的なプラスチック消しゴムにおいて使用される塩化ビニル、ポリ酢酸ビニル、塩化ビニル−酢酸ビニル共重合体等を用いることができる。また、可塑剤としては例えばジオクチルフタレート、ジノニルフタレート、ジオクチルアゼレート、ジオクチルアジペート等から適宜に選択することができる。充填材としても一般的に使用されている炭酸カルシウム、炭酸マグネシウム、ケイ酸粉末等を使用することができる。これら配合成分の配合割合を適宜に調整することにより、消字材1,2の硬さ、消し屑の出易さ等を調整することができる。また、硬質の消字材1と軟質の消字材2からなる細棒形状の消しゴムは押出し成形機により同時に押し出しながら一体成形することができる。

プラスチック樹脂を基材とした消しゴムにおいては、図3に実線で示すように、消字性と消字材の強度(硬さ)とは相反する関係にある。しかし、本発明の構成によれば、例えば図3においてA点の特性を有する軟質の消字材1とB点の特性を有する硬質の消字材2とを組み合わせて一体化したことにより、実質上点Cの特性(強度と消字性)を有する消しゴムが得られることになるのである。

図1からわかるように、軟質の消字材2は細棒形状の消しゴム端面に表出しているので、この消しゴムで鉛筆やシャープペンシルの筆跡上を擦過させると軟質の消字材2が筆跡上に密着しその上を擦過するので軟質の消字材が有する優れた消字性を最大限に発揮させることができる。また、硬質の消字材1も適度の消字性を有するので、硬質の消字材1が筆跡の消去を阻害することはない。

以上の説明から明らかなように、本発明によれば、全長にわたり軟質の消字材による優れた消字性を確保しつつ、また、硬質の消字材による消字性も確保しつつ、強靱な外殻補強構造又は骨格補強構造の細棒状消しゴムを提供することができる。
