TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a focal position detecting device for an optical device such as an autofocus camera, and more particularly to a focal position detecting device having two or more photoelectric conversion element arrays arranged in a horizontal direction and a vertical direction.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In a focus position detection device having two photoelectric conversion element arrays arranged in a horizontal direction and a vertical direction, a defocus amount calculated using pixel data of a photoelectric conversion element array arranged in a horizontal direction and a defocus amount calculated in a vertical direction Various proposals have conventionally been made regarding which of the defocus amounts calculated using pixel data of the arranged photoelectric conversion element array is to be selected.
[0003]
In the first method, two defocus amounts are compared, and the one with a larger defocus amount, that is, the focus position of a target closer to the optical device is selected (near-position priority method). In the second method, the contrast is calculated using the pixel data of each photoelectric conversion element array, and the defocus amount by the photoelectric conversion element array having the higher contrast is selected (reliability priority method). The third method gives priority to the amount of defocus by the photoelectric conversion element array arranged in the horizontal direction (horizontal priority method).
[0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, if the reliability priority method or the lateral priority method is simply adopted, when a target (subject) is mixed at a position distant from an optical device such as a camera and at a position close to the optical device, the optical system is positioned at an intended position. There was a problem that the focusing could not be performed in some cases.
[0005]
In general, the vertical and horizontal focus position detection capabilities of the focus position detection device are not always the same due to factors such as the assembly / processing accuracy of the AF sensor module and the performance of the photoelectric conversion element array. In particular, when the photoelectric conversion element array is arranged obliquely with respect to the optical system of the AF sensor module, an error having a direction dependency occurs for a target oblique to the photoelectric conversion element array. If the error is adjusted so as to reduce the error in either the vertical direction or the horizontal direction, the error may remain or increase in the other direction. Under such conditions, when the near-position priority method is adopted, the difference between the defocus amount due to the photoelectric conversion element array arranged in the horizontal direction and the defocus amount due to the photoelectric conversion element array arranged in the vertical direction is small. There is a possibility that focusing problems such as inversion of distance and nearness may occur. Similarly, when the reliability priority method is adopted, the photoelectric conversion element array having a larger error does not function effectively.
[0006]
The present invention has been made in order to solve the problems of the above-described conventional example, and appropriately selects a near position priority method, a lateral direction priority method, and a reliability priority method according to conditions, while maintaining high accuracy. It is an object of the present invention to provide a focus position detection device capable of focusing an optical system on a target intended by a user.
[0007]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, a focus position detecting device of the present invention includes a first photoelectric conversion element array arranged in a horizontal direction and a second photoelectric conversion element array arranged in a vertical direction, Using the pixel data of the photoelectric conversion element array, a first defocus amount and a first reliability value representing the reliability of the first photoelectric conversion element array are calculated, and the pixel data of the second photoelectric conversion element array is calculated. The second defocus amount and the second reliability value indicating the reliability of the second photoelectric conversion element array are calculated using the calculated values, and the absolute value of the difference between the first defocus amount and the second defocus amount is calculated. If it is larger than the first comparison value, a larger defocus amount is selected from the first defocus amount and the second defocus amount, and the first defocus amount and the second defocus amount are selected. Is smaller than the first comparison value, and If the first reliability value is higher than the second comparison value, the first defocus amount is selected, and if the first reliability value is smaller than the second comparison value, the first defocus amount is selected. The first reliability value is compared with the second reliability value, and if the first reliability value is high, the first defocus amount is selected, and if the second reliability value is high, the second defocus amount is selected.
[0008]
When the absolute value of the difference between the first defocus amount and the second defocus amount is larger than the first comparison value, that is, when the first defocus amount and the second defocus amount are extremely different, The first photoelectric conversion element array and the second photoelectric conversion element array respectively detect different targets or different portions of the same target. Therefore, in this case, the larger defocus amount is selected by the near-position priority method in order to focus the optical system on the side closer to the optical device.
[0009]
When the absolute value of the difference between the first defocus amount and the second defocus amount is smaller than the first comparison value, the first photoelectric conversion element array and the second photoelectric conversion element array It is conceivable that there is a possibility that different portions are detected while approaching each other, and a possibility that the same portion of the same target is detected but the defocus amount is different due to an error. In this case, the first reliability value and the second comparison value of the first photoelectric conversion element array further arranged in the horizontal direction are compared, and the first reliability value is higher than the second comparison value. That is, when the focus position detection by the first photoelectric conversion element array is reliable, the first defocus amount by the first photoelectric conversion element array is selected by the lateral priority method.
[0010]
Further, when the first reliability value is smaller than the second comparison value, that is, when the reliability of the focus position detection by the first photoelectric conversion element array is low, the first reliability by the first photoelectric conversion element array is used. The property value is compared with a second reliability value obtained by the second photoelectric conversion element array. Then, when the first reliability value is high, the first defocus amount by the first photoelectric conversion element is selected by the reliability priority method. Further, when the second reliability value is high, the second defocus amount by the second photoelectric conversion element is selected by the reliability priority method.
[0011]
In the above configuration, the first reliability value and the second reliability value are preferably contrasts calculated using pixel data of the first photoelectric conversion element array and the second photoelectric conversion element array, respectively. As the contrast, for example, a total sum of absolute values of differences between output signals of adjacent pixels of the photoelectric conversion element array can be used. When the contrast is high, the focus position of the optical system is relatively close to the target, the target can be clearly identified, and the focusing accuracy increases.
[0012]
Alternatively, in the above structure, the first reliability value and the second reliability value correspond to the degree of coincidence of the correlation operation using the pixel data of the first photoelectric conversion element array and the pixel data of the second photoelectric conversion element array, respectively. Preferably, the value is The higher the degree of coincidence in the correlation calculation, the closer the focus position of the optical system is to the target, the more clearly the target can be identified, and the higher the focusing accuracy. As a value indicating the degree of coincidence in the correlation operation, a mismatch amount Hn (k) represented by the following equation can be used. In general, the higher the degree of coincidence of the correlation operation, the smaller the minimum value of the amount of mismatch.

On the other hand, if CAn is not greater than C2 in # 43, that is, if C2 ≧ CAn, the contrast is further reduced, and the gain when amplifying the output signal of the n-th island in the LC mode is set to four times (× 4) (# 4). 45). In either case, the retransmission flag of the n-th island determined in # 21 is turned on to re-transmit the output signal of the n-th island in # 15 (# 47).

【The invention's effect】
As is clear from the above description, the focus position detection device of the present invention includes a first photoelectric conversion element array arranged in a horizontal direction and a second photoelectric conversion element array arranged in a vertical direction, The first defocus amount and the first reliability value representing the reliability of the first photoelectric conversion element array are calculated using the pixel data of the first photoelectric conversion element array, and the first defocus amount and the first reliability value representing the reliability of the first photoelectric conversion element array are calculated. Using the pixel data, a second defocus amount and a second reliability value representing the reliability of the second photoelectric conversion element array are calculated, and the difference between the first defocus amount and the second defocus amount is calculated. If the absolute value is larger than the first comparison value, the larger of the first defocus amount and the second defocus amount is selected, and the first defocus amount and the second defocus amount are selected. The absolute value of the difference between the defocus amounts is smaller than the first comparison value If the first reliability value is higher than the second comparison value, the first defocus amount is selected. If the first reliability value is smaller than the second comparison value, the first defocus amount is selected. The reliability value is compared with the second reliability value. If the first reliability value is high, the first defocus amount is determined, and if the second reliability value is high, the second defocus amount is determined. select.
[0075]
When the absolute value of the difference between the first defocus amount and the second defocus amount is larger than the first comparison value, the first photoelectric conversion element array and the second photoelectric conversion element array have different target values. Since an object or a different part of the same target is detected, the optical system can be focused on the side closer to the optical device by selecting the larger defocus amount (near position priority). method).
[0076]
When the absolute value of the difference between the first defocus amount and the second defocus amount is smaller than the first comparison value, the first photoelectric conversion element array and the second photoelectric conversion element array have the same target. The possibility of detecting different parts that are close to each other but different parts and the possibility that the same part of the same target is detected but the defocus amount is different due to an error are considered. The first reliability value and the second comparison value by the first photoelectric conversion element array arranged in the direction are compared, and if the first reliability value is higher than the second comparison value, the first photoelectric value is compared with the first reliability value. By selecting the first defocus amount by the conversion element array, the focus position can be detected with priority given to the horizontal direction.
[0077]
Further, when the first reliability value is smaller than the second comparison value, that is, when the reliability of the focus position detection by the first photoelectric conversion element array is low, the first reliability by the first photoelectric conversion element array is used. The first reliability value is compared with the second reliability value by the second photoelectric conversion element array, and when the first reliability value is high, the first defocus amount by the first photoelectric conversion element is selected. When the reliability value of 2 is high, the focus position can be detected using more reliable data by selecting the second defocus amount by the second photoelectric conversion element.
[0078]
That is, according to the focus position detection device of the present invention, the near position priority method, the lateral position priority method, and the reliability priority method can be selectively used depending on the case, and more accurate focus position detection can be performed.
