前記数1は、従来の前記数3の2DRMSと、σH_KalmanとのRSS(Root Sum Square)値となっている。
HDOP(Last

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a GPS receiver that outputs 2DRMS as an accuracy evaluation value for a GPS positioning solution, and a car navigation device including the GPS receiver.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In a navigation system using a GPS as a positioning means, such as a car navigation device, a Kalman filter is used in a calculation process of a positioning solution (a position of the GPS receiver itself calculated by a geometric calculation) in a GPS receiver, or an application is used. By using the GPS positioning solution by using the accuracy evaluation value for the GPS positioning solution, the program is intended to improve the accuracy as a navigation system.
[0003]
A Kalman filter used as a GPS navigation filter in a GPS receiver regards a GPS positioning result as one dynamic system, and performs system state estimation and error covariance from a previous positioning solution operation to a next positioning solution operation. It conveys information such as matrices, tentatively estimates the state of the system based on that information, and updates the estimated value using the difference between the positioning solution and the estimated value, and converges the estimated value to a steady state Let it. In addition, the GPS receiver outputs, as information for evaluating the accuracy of the GPS positioning solution, an accuracy evaluation value for the GPS positioning result to the application program as a message in real time processing. Conventionally, 2DRMS using DOP has been used as such an accuracy evaluation value.
[0004]
Here, DOP represents an expansion coefficient of a pseudorange (distance between a GPS satellite and a GPS receiver measured by a GPS receiver) measurement error to a positioning solution error, and depends on an instantaneous geometric arrangement of the GPS satellites. Change. 2DRMS is a value defined for a two-dimensional random variable having an average of 0, and is usually used as an index representing a 95% range of a horizontal error for a GPS positioning solution. Conventionally, 2DRMS uses a definition as shown in the following
(Equation 3)
Here, HDOP represents a horizontal component of DOP. Also, σ Uere Is a term referred to as "UERE", and represents a 1σ value (standard deviation) for a pseudorange measurement error, and is a constant common to all GPS satellites.
[0005]
The GPS receiver executes the positioning calculation at a fixed time interval (for example, every one second), and repeatedly outputs the GPS positioning solution and the 2DRMS value. FIG. 5 shows a flowchart of this calculation process. The GPS receiver first performs a positioning operation using a Kalman filter (S501), and then calculates an HDOP from the arrangement of the GPS satellites used in the positioning operation in S501 (S502). Next, in step S503, the 2DRMS is calculated according to the definition of the
[0006]
The application program of the car navigation device obtains two positioning results: a DR positioning result based on a sensor output for dead reckoning such as a gyro sensor output, a vehicle speed pulse, a back signal, and a GPS positioning solution obtained from a GPS receiver. The vehicle position is estimated based on the positioning result. FIG. 4 shows an operation flowchart up to the output of the own vehicle position in the application program. Note that the processing in FIG. 4 is repeatedly executed at fixed time intervals (for example, every one second).
[0007]
As shown in FIG. 4, the application program reads the GPS positioning solution and 2DRMS output from the GPS receiver (S301). Next, output results from the dead reckoning sensor, such as the vehicle speed pulse count value, the gyro sensor output voltage, and the back signal, are read (S302), the DR positioning result is calculated (S303), and the dead reckoning sensor itself is read. An accuracy evaluation value representing an error included in the DR positioning result is calculated based on the error and the like (S304).
[0008]
In the next step S305, 2DRMS, which is the accuracy evaluation value for the GPS positioning solution, is compared with the accuracy evaluation value for the DR positioning result, and it is determined that the 2DRMS is smaller and the GPS positioning solution has higher accuracy. If it is determined (S305: YES), the GPS positioning solution is adopted as the own vehicle position for map matching (S306). If 2DRMS is larger, the DR positioning result is adopted as the vehicle position for map matching (S307). In S308, map matching is performed based on the own vehicle position adopted in S306 or S307, and the own vehicle position as a final calculation result is output.
[0009]
As described above, the 2DRMS is used as an important index for removing the influence of an error included in the sensor output for dead reckoning and improving the accuracy of the vehicle position as a final application output such as a map matching result. ing.
[0010]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, the 2DRMS according to the conventional definition expressed by the
[0011]
Such a property of the conventional 2DRMS causes the following problem. Assuming a situation in which the own vehicle travels in a tunnel or the like and GPS positioning cannot be performed for a long time (non-positioning) and then GPS positioning is started again, 2DRMS and actual positioning included in the GPS positioning solution The error has a relationship as shown in FIG.
[0012]
FIG. 6 is a graph conceptually showing how the actual positioning error included in the GPS positioning solution and 2DRMS change with the lapse of time from the non-positioning state to the positioning state. In the first positioning after the non-positioning state continues (at time t 0 ), Since the Kalman filter of the GPS receiver cannot obtain the past positioning solution, it is not possible to obtain sufficient accuracy of the estimated value, and the actual positioning error included in the GPS positioning solution becomes a large value. Thereafter, the Kalman filter quickly converges, the accuracy of the estimated value increases, and the actual positioning error value decreases with the convergence of the Kalman filter.
[0013]
On the other hand, since the 2DRMS depends on the instantaneous positioning of the GPS satellites, it takes a small value as shown in FIG. 6 at the start of positioning after non-positioning. Here, the application program is executed at time t shown in FIG. 0 ~ T 1 When 2DRMS is used as the accuracy evaluation value for the determination shown in step S305 shown in FIG. 0 ~ T 1 Since the 2DRMS is smaller than the actual positioning error between the two, the comparison is performed using the accuracy evaluation value smaller than the actual positioning error for the GPS positioning solution at the time of the determination in S305. . For this reason, despite the fact that the accuracy of the DR positioning result is higher than that of the GPS positioning solution, the GPS positioning solution is incorrectly adopted as the own vehicle position, and as a result, the position of the own vehicle flies on the display screen of the navigation device. In some cases, position jumps and the like occurred.
[0014]
The present invention has been made in view of the above problems, provides a method of calculating 2DRMS reflecting an actual positioning error, and provides a GPS receiver capable of outputting the 2DRMS. It is another object of the present invention to provide a car navigation device that uses the 2DRMS to improve the accuracy of estimating the position of the vehicle using an application program.
[0015]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The problem of the conventional 2DRMS described above is that the conventional 2DRMS represents an instantaneous error at the time of positioning of the GPS positioning solution, and does not reflect the past system state of positioning data regarded as a dynamic system. to cause. Then, the GPS receiver according to

In a GPS receiver that uses a Kalman filter to calculate a GPS positioning solution, not only HDOP but also a horizontal direction calculated by a known method from a diagonal element of an error covariance matrix obtained in a process of calculating an estimated value of the Kalman filter. [0018]
According to a fourth aspect of the present invention, a car navigation device includes the GPS receiver according to the third aspect. Since the application program can evaluate the accuracy of the GPS positioning solution based on the 2DRMS output by the GPS receiver, the accuracy of the vehicle position estimation as the final application output can be improved.
[0019]
In addition, the GPS receiver with a DR function according to claim 5 integrates the GPS positioning function and the DR positioning function to calculate a positioning solution, and calculates the positioning solution using a Kalman filter, and is calculated in a positioning calculation process. HDOP and σ H_Kalman In the GPS receiver with a DR function that outputs the respective indexes, the 2DRMS as the accuracy evaluation value of the positioning solution is calculated and output by using the respective indexes according to the definition of
[0020]
Note that this GPS receiver with a DR function can evaluate the accuracy of a positioning solution using HDOP (Last HDOP) immediately before GPS positioning becomes impossible even when GPS positioning cannot be performed due to blocking of GPS signals. By calculating the 2DRMS as a value according to the definition of
[0021]
In addition, by configuring the car navigation device using the GPS receiver with the DR function, the application program obtains 2DRMS even in a situation where the GPS signal is shielded and the positioning calculation is performed only by the DR function. In addition, the accuracy of the positioning solution can be evaluated (claim 7).

Time T 1 Since the GPS positioning solution cannot be obtained when the situation of the subsequent DR single positioning is entered, the error of the dead-reckoning sensor accumulates in the Kalman filter. H_Kalman Gradually increases (see FIG. 8 (a)), and accordingly, 2DRMS also gradually increases (see FIG. 8 (c)). In addition, at the time of DR single positioning, the time T 1 The immediately preceding HDOP (LastHDOP) is used. In other words, as shown in FIG. 8B, during DR alone positioning, the value of HDOP (LastHDOP) 1 Maintains the previous value.

FIG. 8B shows the time T 2 This is an example of a case where the HDOP calculated according to the geometric arrangement of the subsequent GPS satellites has a value slightly larger than LastHDOP.

【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the present invention, the past system state of the GPS positioning data regarded as a dynamic system can be reflected in the estimation of the current positioning error. Can be more appropriately evaluated, and the accuracy of the application output as the final calculation result of the own vehicle position can be improved.

Also, in a GPS receiver using a Kalman filter for calculating a GPS positioning solution, HDOP, σ H_Kalman By calculating 2DRMS using the definition of
[0045]
Further, in a GPS receiver with a DR function, even in a situation where GPS positioning such as a tunnel cannot be performed, by using LastHDOP which is an HDOP immediately before GPS positioning becomes impossible, 2DRMS is defined by the definition of the above equation (2). It can be calculated. The application program of the car navigation device using the GPS receiver with the DR function can always obtain the 2DRMS in which the actual positioning error is accurately reflected regardless of whether the GPS positioning is possible or not. By performing the accuracy evaluation on the positioning solution using the 2DRMS, the accuracy of the application output as the final vehicle position calculation result can be improved.
