BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an ignition control device for an internal combustion engine, and more particularly, to an ignition control device for an internal combustion engine in which discharge energy of an ignition plug is increased / decreased in accordance with the operating state of the engine to prevent misfire and to reduce battery power consumption.
[0002]
[Prior art]
A spark ignition type internal combustion engine ignites a pressurized air-fuel mixture in a cylinder with a spark generated by an ignition plug at an appropriate timing to generate an output. The internal combustion engine ignition device needs to increase the discharge energy of the spark plug in order to ensure the combustion stability, but the discharge energy is suppressed in the operating range where the combustion stability is good from the viewpoint of suppressing the battery power consumption. . For example, in a cylinder injection engine, as shown in FIG. 7, the engine operating range is a compression lean region, an intake lean region, a stoichio other than lean, and a rich region (hereinafter referred to as a W / O lean region) by an air-fuel ratio. The fuel injection device and the ignition device are driven in order to perform optimal fuel supply and ignition processing in each of these operation regions. By the way, each air-fuel ratio region shown in FIG. 7 has a different combustion stable region, that is, in the compression lean region, a layered lean mixture is generated in a part of the cylinder, and it is difficult to control stable combustion. In the intake lean region, a relatively lean air-fuel mixture is uniformly generated in the cylinder, and combustion can be controlled more stably and more stably than compression lean, and sufficient combustion stability can be maintained in the W / O lean region. For this reason, in order to ensure combustion stability in the compression lean region, it is necessary to perform ignition with a spark of a high level of discharge energy, and the ignition coil energization time is set longer than that in the W / O lean region.
[0003]
For example, Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 4-179860 discloses an ignition device that switches discharge energy between a stratified combustion operation region and a uniform combustion operation region.
[0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
Incidentally, in the ignition device disclosed in Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 4-179860 and the ignition device described in FIG. 7, a constant value such as a primary voltage value corresponding to the discharge energy is uniquely determined by the stratified combustion operation or the uniform combustion operation. Depending on the magnitude of this value, the discharge ignition energy is insufficient in the high engine speed range or excessive on the low engine speed range side.
However, when the air-fuel ratio is switched to the compression lean region, the intake lean region, or the W / O lean region, such as in a cylinder injection engine, and the combustion stability for each combustion mode is greatly different, the combustion mode is switched. It is desirable to change the set value of the discharge energy according to the situation to improve the combustion stability and suppress the battery power consumption in the operation range where the risk of misfire is small. In addition to this, even in the same combustion mode, changing the set value of the discharge energy in accordance with the engine rotational speed at that time or in addition to the warmed-up state of the engine can improve the combustion stability and It is presumed that it is more preferable for suppressing useless battery power consumption.
[0005]
An object of the present invention is to provide an ignition control device for an internal combustion engine that can ensure combustion stability and drivability while suppressing wasteful battery power consumption based on the above-described problems.
[0006]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, according to the first aspect of the present invention, a first combustion mode that operates at a first predetermined air-fuel ratio and a second combustion that operates at an air-fuel ratio that is leaner than the first predetermined air-fuel ratio. An ignition control device for an internal combustion engine having a mode, wherein the discharge energy of a spark plug provided in the internal combustion engine is increased in accordance with the engine rotational speed, and in the second combustion mode as compared with the first combustion mode. Discharge energy control means for performing switching control so as to increase discharge energy is provided, and the discharge energy control means includes an increase rate of discharge energy with respect to an increase in engine rotation speed in the first combustion mode and an engine in the second combustion mode. Control is performed by separately setting an increase rate of discharge energy with respect to an increase in rotation speed in each combustion mode.
Thus, even if the combustion stability with respect to the change in the engine speed is different between the first combustion mode and the second combustion mode region, the rate of increase of the discharge energy is different in each combustion mode. For this reason, combustion stability can be ensured while suppressing an excessive increase in discharge energy, battery power consumption can be reduced, and drivability can be ensured.
[0007]
According to a second aspect of the present invention, in the ignition control device for an internal combustion engine according to the first aspect, the discharge energy control means increases the discharge energy of the spark plug regardless of the combustion mode when the engine temperature is lower than a predetermined temperature and the engine is cold. It controls to do.
Here, when the engine is cold, the maximum discharge energy corresponding to the engine rotation speed at that time is selected, and misfire during the engine cold condition can be prevented without being affected by the combustion mode or the engine rotation speed.
[0008]
According to a third aspect of the present invention, in the ignition control device for an internal combustion engine according to the first aspect, the discharge energy control means is configured such that the rate of increase of the discharge energy relative to the increase of the engine speed is higher in the second combustion mode than in the first combustion mode. Is controlled to be small.
In this case, in the second combustion mode, the discharge energy has already been increased compared to the first combustion mode, and when the discharge energy in the second combustion mode is increased at the same increase rate as in the first combustion mode, the second combustion mode In this case, the discharge energy becomes excessive on the high rotation side of the engine, so here, while suppressing the increase of the discharge energy on the high rotation side in the second combustion mode, the combustion stability is ensured and the battery power consumption is reduced. it can.

The following points were taken into account when setting up this map. That is, in the second combustion mode A2 (A2 ′), the discharge energy has already increased compared to the first combustion mode A1, and in the second combustion mode A2, the combustion speed increases as the engine rotational speed Ne increases. It is not necessary to increase the discharge energy as compared with the first combustion mode A1 which increases and the increase in the combustion speed is small. Therefore, if the discharge energy in the second combustion mode A2 is increased at the same increase rate as in the first combustion mode A1, the discharge energy becomes excessive on the high rotation side. In this situation, the increase in discharge energy on the high rotation side in the second combustion mode A2 is suppressed, and the battery power consumption is reduced in the first combustion mode A1.

A well-known injector injection process and ignition process are executed at a predetermined crank angle (for example, TDC 180 °) position in the middle of the main routine.

The target injector drive time is calculated using the correction coefficient KAF, the correction coefficient KDT corresponding to the atmospheric temperature Ta, and the atmospheric pressure Pa.
Next, the ignition process in the middle of the main routine will be described with reference to FIGS.
[0019]
When step a1 of the discharge energy control routine of FIG. 5 is reached, the current combustion mode region is read, and in the first combustion mode A1 of the stoichiometric W / O lean, the current combustion mode proceeds to step a4 as it is. In step a2, it is determined whether or not the second combustion mode A2 is a compression lean state. If it is not in the second combustion mode A2, step a5 is reached, and in the compression lean second combustion mode A2, step a3 is reached. In this step a3, the required ignition coil energization time corresponding to the current engine speed Ne is set in the high-voltage power supply circuit by the required discharge energy that has been read and is in the compression lean second combustion mode A2, and the required ignition coil energization is performed. A high voltage command is output to the high voltage power supply circuit to indicate the primary voltage (for example, 250 V) to be secured during the time, thereby setting the primary voltage V2 in the ignition drive circuit and returning. As a result, the spark of the

When step a5 is reached in the second 'combustion mode A2' of the intake lean, here, if the previous time is the second combustion mode A2 of the compression lean and at the time of switching (for example, time t4), the intake lean is detected in step a4. If it continues, step a6 is reached. In step a6, the required ignition coil energization time (see the two-dot chain line in FIG. 3) corresponding to the current engine speed Ne that has been read and is in the second intake combustion mode A2 'is set in the high-voltage power supply circuit. Then, a high voltage command is output to the high voltage power supply circuit to indicate the primary voltage (for example, 200 V) to be secured during the required ignition coil energization time, thereby setting the primary voltage in the ignition drive circuit and proceeding to step a12.
Assume that step a4 is reached from step a1 or a5. Here, the combustion mode is switched to a combustion mode different from the previous time, and when switching from the previous compression lean to the intake lean combustion mode A2 ′ or from the previous compression lean or intake lean to the W / O lean combustion mode A1. The process proceeds to step a11.

In step a12, when the current water temperature Tw exceeds the determination value Tw1 when the engine is cold, the process returns as it is. On the other hand, if it falls below, it determines that it is before warm-up, and proceeds to step a13, where a maximum voltage command for setting a primary voltage that can ensure the highest level of discharge energy is output to the high-voltage power supply circuit. When the engine is cold, the maximum discharge energy is selected according to the engine speed at that time, and control is performed to prevent misfires during the engine cold state without being affected by the combustion mode or engine speed. [0023]
Every time when 75 ° (75 ° BTDC) before top dead center is reached (crank angle 180 °) in the middle of the main routine, the main routine is interrupted based on the change of the reference signal θo from OFF to ON, and the ignition shown in FIG. A control routine is executed. In step b1, predetermined data is fetched. In steps b2 and b3, the latest target ignition timing θb and the latest required ignition coil energization time are set in the timing control circuit, and the process returns to the main routine.

Thereby, ignition is performed by the
Instead of the ignition control device for the internal combustion engine of FIG. 1, an ignition drive circuit using a capacitor or the like may be used.
In the above-described embodiment, the ignition coil energization time is calculated from the discharge energy setting map. However, the ignition coil energization time may be mapped so that the discharge energy has a different increase rate in each combustion mode. That is, as a result, any method may be used as long as the increase rate of the discharge energy is different in each combustion mode. Needless to say, the ignition coil energization time may be set by a crank angle or the like.

【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the first aspect of the present invention, since the rate of increase of discharge energy is different in each combustion mode, combustion stability is ensured while suppressing an excessive increase in discharge energy, and battery power consumption is reduced. And drivability can be secured.
[0026]
In the second aspect of the invention, when the engine is cold, the maximum discharge energy is selected according to the engine speed at that time, and misfire is prevented without being affected by the combustion mode or the engine speed when the engine is cold. be able to.
