本発明は、竪型連続鋳造における鋳造曲がりを防止する装置に関し、とくに鉄、銅、アルミニウムなどの金属または合金を対象とするものである。

【従来の技術】
鋳型を囲む冷却ジャケット上に保持炉を載置する竪型連続鋳造装置は、均質な鋳塊が得られるため広く利用されているが、従来の保持炉は、鋳型と密着して、保持炉−鋳型−冷却ジャケット−引出装置(切断機を含む)がすべて固定されたものである。そのため、凝固条件、引き出し状況によっては冷却が不均一となり、切断時の鋳塊のチャッキングショックなどによって鋳塊に曲がりが出たり、鋳型に割れが発生し、長時間の竪型連続鋳造を中止しなければならなくなるという問題があった。

【課題を解決するための手段】
本発明者は、これについて種々検討を重ねた結果、実用上好適な鋳造曲がりの防止装置を見い出し、本発明を完成させた。すなわち、本発明は、鋳型を囲む冷却ジャケット上に保持炉を載置する竪型連続鋳造装置において、前記保持炉が載置された炉台板を支持する受け台上の四隅にスラストベアリングを設けて、保持炉を同一平面上で可動自在にしたことを特徴とする竪型連続鋳造における鋳造曲がりの防止装置を要旨とする。

【発明の実施の形態】
以下、本発明の装置を図について説明すると、図1において、本発明の竪型連続鋳造装置は、保持炉1−鋳型3−冷却ジャケット4−引出装置(引き出しロール)8が固定された結合体ではなく、保持炉1が同一平面上で可動自在であることが特徴であって、鋳型3を囲む冷却ジャケット4上に、ルツボ2を収容する保持炉1が載置され、炉台板6と受け台7との間に保持炉を同一平面上で可動自在にする手段、すなわち、炉台板を支持する受け台上の四隅にスラストベアリングが設けられている構成である。

前記手段としては、炉台板6の四隅に配置したスラストベアリングが最適であるが、これに限定されるものではなく、保持炉を同一平面上で自由に動かせることができるものであれば、たとえば円形軌条などであってもよい。

本発明では、凝固条件や引き出し状態あるいは切断時のチャッキングショックによって、鋳塊にこれを曲げようとする力が作用しても、スラストベアリングにより炉台板が、保持炉や鋳型、冷却ジャケットとともに移動し、引き出しロール8で引出される鋳塊の芯を常に垂直にするので、鋳塊の曲がりを発生させることもなく鋳型内の凝固現象を均一にさせ、本来の長時間連続鋳造が可能になる。

【実施例】
(実施例)
図1および図2に示す、炉台板6にスラストベアリングを設置した竪型連続鋳造装置を用いて、純銅155φを連続鋳造し、切断鋸9を用いて約530mm長に切断する作業において、保持炉の動きを、炉台板6の四隅にある4つのコーナーで1時間毎に測定したところ次の結果を得た。

ここに示されるように、保持炉が前後左右に0〜18mmの範囲を自由に動くことにより、鋳造曲がりが防止でき、長時間連続鋳造ができた。

【発明の効果】
本発明の装置によれば、従来の場合と比較してセット時の芯出しの単純化、鋳型内部の凝固部分の損傷の軽減による1セット当りの連続鋳造量の増加を始め、凝固条件や引き出し状態あるいは切断時のチャッキングショックによる鋳塊の曲がりの防止に優れた効果をもたらし、次工程の押出し材としての適正な外形が確保されるので工業的価値が大きい。
