本発明の害虫駆除方法は、害虫、特にゴキブリ等の生息場所を囲うように粘着材を配置し、殺虫剤の噴霧、燻蒸または燻煙により害虫を追い出して、該粘着材にて害虫を捕集するものである。
本発明において用いられる殺虫剤の有効成分として、アレスリン、フタルスリン、レスメスリン、ペルメトリン、フェノスリン、シフェノスリン、シペルメトリン、エトフェンプロックス、プラレスリン、エムペンスリン等のピレスロイド化合物、フェニトロチオン、ジクロルボス等の有機リン化合物、プロポキサール等のカーバメート化合物などおよびそれらの混合物が挙げられるが、害虫を追い出す効果の優れたピレスロイド化合物を用いるのがより効果的である。
また、該殺虫剤の製剤形態としては、水性および油性エアゾール剤等の噴霧剤、液化炭酸ガスに有効成分化合物を溶解させた製剤、燻蒸剤、燻煙剤等が用いられる。

実施例1
底面が一辺5cmの三角形で高さが15cmである中空の木製三角柱シェルターに、チャバネゴキブリ雄雌各10頭を入れ、ピートグラディーチャンバー(1.8m×1.8m×1.8m)中に予め幅5cmの粘着テープで作っておいた一辺50cmの正方形の中央に設置した。市販のエアゾール殺虫剤(d−フタルスリン 0.15w/v%、d−レスメスリン 0.02w/v%含有)を上記三角シェルターに向け約1秒間噴霧した。
5分後に観察したところ、1頭は三角シェルター内でノックダウンしていたが、残りの19頭は粘着テープで捕獲された。

実施例3
床面積32m2 、部屋容積74m3 の飲食店にてゴキブリトラップ5個を用い、駆除5日前から2日間かけて事前にゴキブリの生息状況を調査した。1個のゴキブリトラップに1日当たり捕獲されるゴキブリの平均数を以下、ゴキブリ指数と呼ぶことにする。
