【発明の属する技術分野】本発明は、湿田用トラクタ等
の農用作業機の操向装置に係り、詳しくは、駆動操向輪
側の操向ハブケースと機体側の伝動軸ケースとのシール
性能を向上させる技術に関する。

【従来の技術】農用作業機の操向装置としては、特開平
8‐145150号公報の図2に示されたもののよう
に、操向軸心を兼ねた車輪駆動用のキングピン軸(符号
6)を備えた車輪側の車軸ケース(符号1)と、操向車
輪駆動用の伝動軸を備えた機体側の伝動軸ケース(符号
2)とを、この伝動軸ケースが車軸ケースに内嵌する状
態でキングピン軸回りに相対回動自在に連結してあるも
のが知られている。この構造では、車軸ケースにおける
キングピン軸を囲繞する筒ケース部分(符合1a)の上
端部と伝動軸ケースとの間にシール部材を配設してあ
る。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】農用作業機では、湿田
での代掻き作業等では、車軸ケースが水没する程車輪が
深く沈んだ状態で走行することが多く、前述したシール
部材は泥水に晒された状態で使用されることが殆どであ
るため、シール寿命の点では比較的厳しいものがある。
車軸ケースと伝動軸ケースとの嵌合公差やキングピン軸
のスラスト方向の公差等の不可避な公差ガタにより、シ
ール寿命が不利になる場合も考えられるので、上記シー
ル構造には改善の余地が残されているものであった。本
発明の目的は、上述した両ケースの嵌合構造の見直しに
より、シール部材の寿命を延ばせるようにシール機能を
強化する点にある。

【課題を解決するための手段】
〔構成〕第1発明は、操向軸心を兼ねた車輪駆動用のキ
ングピン軸を備えた車輪側の車軸ケースと、操向車輪駆
動用の伝動軸を備えた機体側の伝動軸ケースとを、この
伝動軸ケースが車軸ケースに内嵌する状態でキングピン
軸回りに相対回動自在に連結してある農用作業機の操向
装置において、車軸ケースにおけるキングピン軸を囲繞
する筒ケース部分の上端部内側に、伝動軸ケースとの間
に作用するシール部材を配設し、筒ケース部分の上端部
を外囲する筒状の突出ケース部分を伝動軸ケースに形成
するとともに、その突出ケース部分と筒ケース部分の外
面との間に作用する補助シール部材を配設してあること
を特徴とする。
【0005】〔作用〕請求項1の構成によれば、車軸ケ
ースの筒ケース部分上端の内側にシール部材が、そして
外側に補助シール部材が夫々配置されたダブルシール構
造になり、従来のシングルシール構造に比べてシール機
能が明に改良される。加えて、外側に位置する補助シー
ル部材は、下向きに突出する突出ケース部分に内嵌配置
されているので、泥水等は下方から及んでくる状態とな
る。
【0006】シール部材に上方から泥水が及ぶ従来の構
造では、その部分が湿田から上方に浮上した状態でも泥
水がシール部材上に残って重力による侵入おそれが存在
するが、本願の構造では、湿田から上方に浮上した状態
では、重力によってシール部分の泥水が流れ落ちて侵入
おそれが先ず解消される点で有利である。従って、内側
のシール部材の寿命は当然延びるとともに、外側の補助
シール部材もその下向き配置によって従来のシール部材
よりもその寿命を延ばすことが可能になり、全体として
シール寿命を飛躍的に延ばせるようになる。
【0007】〔効果〕請求項1に記載の農用作業機の操
向装置では、伝動軸ケースに筒状の突出ケースを形成す
る程度の改造により、伝動及び操向構造を変えることな
く車軸ケースと伝動軸ケースとのシール性を向上でき、
泥水からの伝動部保護の強化やシール部材の寿命が延ば
せて耐久性を改善することができた。

【発明の実施の形態】以下に、本発明の実施の形態を図
面に基づいて説明する。図1に農用作業機の一例である
トラクタが示され、1は駆動操向前輪、2は駆動後輪、
3はエンジン、4はミッションケース、5は機体であ
る。

いる。6は機体5に固定の前輪駆動用の伝動軸ケースで
あり、横向きの伝動軸7を囲繞するパイプケース部分6
Aと、操向用の内筒ケース部分6Bとを備えている。8
は前輪1取付け用のハブ9を回転自在に支持する前車軸
ケースであり、ハブ9にスプライン外嵌された大径ベベ
ルギヤ10を囲繞するハブケース部分8Aと、前記内筒

とは上下2個の支持ベアリング11,12によって相対
回動自在に連結されているとともに、伝動軸7と大径ベ
ベルギヤ10とを連動させるキングピン軸13を、内筒
ケース部分6Bのベアリング14と外筒ケース部分8B
のベアリング15とによって回転自在に支持してある。
従って、前輪1はキングピン軸13の軸心である操向軸
心Pを中心に操舵されるものであり、キングピン軸13
が前輪駆動用軸と操向軸心とを兼ねている。
【0011】伝動軸ケース6と前車軸ケース8とは、外
筒ケース部分8Bの上端部内側と内筒ケース部分6Bと
の間に配設された第1シールリング(シール部材の一
例)16によってシールされている。そして、外筒ケー
ス部分8Bの上端部を外囲する筒状の突出ケース部分6
Cを内筒ケース部分6Bに形成するとともに、その下向
きの突出ケース部分6Cと外筒ケース部分8Bの外面と

ることにより、泥水は第2シールリング17の下方から
及ぶ状態になり、第1シールリング16に上方から泥水
が及ぶ従来手段に比べて泥水の侵入防止作用が大幅に改
善され、外筒ケース部分8B内部への泥水侵入防止は勿
論、第1シールリング16の寿命を飛躍的に延ばして耐
久性や信頼性を大きく改善できるのである。
