When these materials were used in No. 0, the surface was worn out early and it was necessary to replace the roll in 1 to 1.5 months.

In this method, chromium melts into the iron matrix during melting and the entire matrix is hardened. However, since the ductility is reduced, the durability against impact is reduced, minute cracks are generated in the surface layer due to fatigue caused by rolling of the rolls, wear is promoted by repeated peeling, and the life varies depending on the operating conditions. Although it exists, it was about 3 to 6 months.

The method of coating a cemented carbide material having Cr of 15 to 35% and Ni of 5 to 15% by thermal spraying can be applied to a bridle roll in which a steel plate is wound around a roll by 90 degrees or more and a contact surface pressure with the steel plate is small. However, there is a problem that it cannot be used with rolls having a wrapping angle of 60 degrees or less and large contact surface pressure, that is, flex rolls and leveling rolls. The cause was that the ductility of the film itself was excessively insufficient. Therefore, the winding angle is 6
There has been a long-felt need for a thermal spray roll that can be applied to a roll having a high contact surface pressure of a steel plate of 0 degrees or less.

The structure is made of tungsten carbide (WC) as much as possible, and the reason why tungsten carbide (WC) is dispersed and added without reacting with the metal of the matrix is to utilize the hardness, high elastic modulus, and excellent toughness properties of tungsten carbide (WC). This is to prevent tungsten from forming a solid solution with the metal of the matrix portion to form a hard and brittle intermetallic compound phase in the matrix portion.

Tungsten carbide (WC) is used as the carbide dispersed in the metal matrix of the thermal spray coating because the Vickers hardness of the tungsten carbide itself is Hv178.
0, which is a value higher than Hv1300, which is a Vickers hardness of chromium carbide (Cr 3 C 2 ) precipitated and formed in a high chromium alloy of the prior art, and is excellent in wear resistance.

があった。Niobium carbide (NbC) and molybdenum carbide (Mo 2 C), which are carbides other than tungsten carbide, have excellent properties as carbides, but the material cost is high and the processing cost of the coating is high. Further, elastic modulus niobium carbide carbide itself (NbC) is 34000kg / mm 2, titanium carbide (TiC) is a small value compared to 72000kg / mm 2 of tungsten carbide was 22000kg / mm 2 (WC). Therefore, when the load is applied, the deformation of the carbide itself is larger in niobium carbide and titanium carbide than in tungsten carbide, so that there is a problem that the carbide easily falls off.

When the content is less than 10%, the dispersion density of tungsten carbide is low, and the average Vickers hardness of the thermal spray coating is only Hv650 and the wear resistance is insufficient. Also,
If it exceeds 40%, the dispersion of tungsten carbide becomes too dense and the average Vickers hardness increases to Hv900 or more, and the impact resistance significantly decreases.

ある。Tungsten carbide having a particle size of 1 is to be dispersed in the metal matrix of the thermal spray coating in a granular form of 10 μm to 100 μm and evenly dispersed.
If it is less than 0 μm, even if it is dispersed and protrudes to the contact interface with the steel plate, the unevenness due to the roughness on the steel plate side exceeds the projected tungsten carbide grain size, so that it contacts the metal matrix and selectively wears the relevant part. . The upper limit of the particle size of tungsten carbide is set to 100 μm, because if the particle size of tungsten carbide exceeds 100 μm, the load that the tungsten carbide particles receive from the steel sheet is large and the particles tend to fall off. If there is a relative speed difference between the steel sheet and the rolls, This is because it causes scratches and impairs the quality of the steel sheet.

This is because, although o is an extremely stable element and reacts with tungsten carbide, generation of intermetallic compounds can be suppressed by optimizing the thermal spraying conditions to suppress excessive solid solution. That is, the precipitation of ternary compound phases of carbon and tungsten and Ni or Co can be minimized and the ductility of the film can be maintained.

After unwinding the coil on the entry side of the pickling line and rolling it out, the flex roll with a diameter of 300 mm and a body length of 2500 mm that rotates by contacting the steel plate at a wrapping angle of 45 degrees to make the steel plate horizontal ( The spraying roll of the present invention is applied to a deflector roll). The thermal spray coating is tungsten carbide (W
C) 20% dispersedly added in the alloy, the film composition is 20% WC, Ni is 60%, the remaining composition is C, Si and Fe and others, and the particle size of WC is 50.
.About.100 .mu.m and sprayed thickness was 1.0 mm. The sprayed coating is applied and a flex roll has a thickness of 2.0 to 9.
As a result of continuous use by passing through a 0 mm steel plate, the wear rate of the roll of the conventional coating material of high chromium alloy welded and built up was 0.004 mm / day, whereas the spray coating of the present invention was 0. It exhibited wear resistance of 3.6 times in the ratio of 0.0011 mm / day and wear rate.
