【発明の属する技術分野】本発明は、画像形成装置の用
紙搬送装置に関し、特に用紙搬送路内に詰まった用紙を
除去するための機構を備えた用紙搬送装置に関するもの
である。

【従来の技術】画像形成装置においては用紙搬送路内で
用紙を案内する案内部材を開閉式にし、用紙が搬送路内
で紙詰まりを起こしたときに、該案内部材を開放して残
紙の除去処理を行うようにしている。しかしながら、長
尺のサイズの用紙が上流の搬送ローラ対と下流の搬送ロ
ーラ対とにまたがって残っている場合や、用紙が静電気
を帯びて搬送路内に張り付いている場合などは、該用紙
を機外へ取り出しにくいという問題がある。
【0003】これに対し従来、案内部材を送りローラに
対して着脱可能とすることにより、紙詰まりの除去作業
を容易に行おうとするものがある(実開平3−9144
3号公報参照)。しかしながらこの場合においても搬送
路内に付着した用紙の取り出しは容易ではなく、依然ジ
ャム処理の作業性が悪いという問題がある。
【0004】また従来、上記開閉式の案内部材を搬送路
形成位置へ付勢するスプリングの一端を可動にして、案
内部材全体での付勢力を弱くして、ジャム処理を容易に
しようとするものがある(特開平4−179649号公
報参照)。しかしながらこのような構成においても上記
搬送路内に付着し又は挟まった用紙の取り出しが容易に
なるわけではなく、依然用紙の取り出しが容易でないと
いう問題がある。

去位置まで送ると同時に案内部材を解除して、該用紙の
除去を容易にしようとするものがある(特開平5−10
0523号公報参照)。しかしながらこの場合には、用
紙を除去位置にまで送る操作が必要となり、やはり作業
性が悪いという問題がある。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】そこで本発明の目的
は、上記従来の問題点を解決するために、用紙搬送路内
に詰まった用紙を案内部材の開放と共に機外へ押し出す
ようにして用紙をつかみやすくし、残紙処理を速やかに
かつ容易に行うことができる用紙搬送装置を提供するこ
とである。

理を行う場合、処理作業中に用紙搬送路上に設置された
搬送ローラを傷付けたり、汚したりしてその搬送性能を
低下させるという恐れがある。そこで本発明の他の目的
は、案内部材を開放した際に、用紙搬送路上の搬送ロー
ラを外部から覆うことにより、残紙処理時に搬送ローラ
を保護することである。

【課題を解決するための手段】本発明に係る画像形成装
置の用紙搬送装置は、用紙搬送路の一部を形成する案内
部材を画像形成装置の筐体外へ開放して用紙搬送路を露
出させることによって用紙搬送路上の用紙を取り出し可
能とする画像形成装置の用紙搬送装置において、前記案
内部材は、筐体外へ開放して用紙搬送路を露出させる機
外側の案内部材と、機内側の案内部材とによって構成さ
れ、前記用紙搬送路の内側から用紙搬送路上の用紙を外
側へ押し出す用紙押し出し部材と、この用紙押し出し部
材を前記機外側の案内部材の開放に伴って動作させる連
動機構とを備え、前記用紙押し出し部材は、前記用紙搬
送路内に備えた搬送ローラの後方である機内奥側の位置
を支点として揺動自在に設けられ、この用紙押し出し部
材の先端には、先端部が揺動可能に取り付けられ、この
先端部は、前記機内側の案内部材の一部を形成してお
り、前記連動機構による用紙押し出し部材の動作時に、
その姿勢状態を維持したまま、前記先端部を前記搬送ロ
ーラの前方である機外側に位置させるようになっている

【発明の実施の形態】以下、本発明の実施形態を図面に
沿って説明する。図1〜図3は、本発明の実施形態にお
ける用紙搬送装置を示している。図1のように給紙トレ
イ1に収納された用紙2は、給紙トレイ1上方に配置さ
れた給紙コロ3が用紙2に接触し回転することで給紙ト
レイ1から送り出される。給紙コロ3によって送り出さ
れた用紙2は、その下流のフィードコロ4及び分離コロ
5のニップへ進入し、一枚ずつ分離されながら案内部材
7、8によって構成される用紙搬送路内に送られる。用
紙搬送路内には、搬送ローラ対9、10が設置され、用
紙搬送路内の用紙2は、該搬送ローラ対9、10によっ
て上流側から下流側へと搬送される。搬送ローラ9は、
画像形成装置本体(以下、装置本体)6側に支承され、
図示しない本体6内の駆動部から駆動を与えられる駆動
ローラとして機能する。搬送ローラ10は、案内部材8
に支承され、搬送ローラ9に圧接された従動ローラとし
て機能する。用紙搬送路の下流側には、レジストローラ
対11、12が設置され、搬送ローラ対9、10によっ
て送られる用紙2を受け取って、作像部へ向けて搬出す
る。レジストローラ対11、12による用紙2の搬出の
タイミングは、感光体13上の潜像と同期して行われ
る。

8は、開閉式構造を有しており、支点15を中心に矢印
A方向に開放され、マグネット14により装置本体6に
セットされる。案内部材8を開放した際には、用紙搬送
路内が外側に露出される。

6内には支点20を軸として揺動自在に取り付けられた
用紙押し出し部材21が設けられている。すなわち、こ
の用紙押し出し部材21は、搬送ローラ9の後方を支点
20とし、さらに先端部21aを揺動可能に取り付けて
構成してある。用紙押し出し部材21の先端部21a
は、図2に示すように用紙搬送時において機内側の案内
部材7の一部を構成する。用紙押し出し部材21は、機
外側の案内部材8を開放した際に、機外側へ回動し、用
紙搬送路上に詰まった用紙を押し出すためのものであ
る。図において22はリンク部材であり、このリンク部
材22によって案内部材8の開放に伴って用紙押し出し
部材21の動作が可能となる。リンク部材22は、その
一端を案内部材8に対し、支点15からオフセットした
位置で取り付けられる。またリンク部材22の他端側に
は、長孔22aが形成され、用紙押し出し部材21の支
点20からオフセットされた位置の軸21bにスライド
嵌合されている。

8を外側に回動させると、リンク部材22の長孔22a
の端部が軸21bに当たり、その結果用紙押し出し部材
21は、外側に引き出される。用紙押し出し部材21の

ように用紙押し出し部材21によって機外に押し出さ
れ、たるみが形成された状態となるので、取り出しが容
易となる。用紙2を取り除いた後、案内部材8を元の位
置へ戻すと、用紙押し出し部材21は、スプリング23
の力によって機内に引き戻され、ストッパ24に当たっ
て初期位置に設置される。すなわち、案内部材8が装置
本体6内にセットされると、用紙押し出し部材21はス
プリング23により引き戻され、ストッパ24に当接し
て、案内部材7の一部となる。
