(57)【特許請求の範囲】(57) [Claims] 【請求項1】 磁性材料で構成された回転可能な筒部材
と、前記筒部材との間で挟んだ記録媒体に搬送力を付与
する回転部材と、前記筒部材の内部に前記筒部材の長手
方向に沿って設けた高透磁率のコアと、前記コアの周り
に巻き回した励磁コイルと、を有し、前記励磁コイルへ
の通電により発生する磁場の作用で前記筒部材に発生す
る渦電流により筒部材が発熱し、この熱で筒部材と回転
部材の間のニップ部を通過する記録媒体上の未定着トナ
ー像を加熱定着する定着装置において、 前記励磁コイルは前記コアの長手方向周りに前記筒部材
に沿うように巻かれており、前記筒部材の外周面側の前
記励磁コイルの前記筒部材に沿っている領域に対応する
位置に異常昇温防止用の温度検出手段を設けたことを特
徴とする定着装置。
