【発明の属する技術分野】本発明は、ワイヤーハーネス
を車体などの取り付け孔に貫通させて配設するために用
いるグロメットに関するものである。

【従来の技術】以下、従来のグロメットを図面を参照し
て説明する。図2は、従来のグロメット3を示す説明図
で、図2(a)は正面図、図2(b)は図2(a)に示
すB−B部の断面図である。図2(a)に示すように従
来のグロメット3は、挿入側筒部2の肉厚が周方向で均
一になっている(さらに詳述すると、挿入側筒部2の上
下にR曲線で形成されているR曲線部2aと同じく左右
に直線的に形成されている直線部2bの各肉厚は、任意
の箇所の周方向でほぼ同じである)。ただし、図2
(b)に示すように、挿入側筒部2の肉厚は、筒長さ方
向、つまり先端部2cから基部2d方向には肉厚が厚く
成っている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】しかしながら、図2に
示すようにグロメット3は、取り付けパネル4の取り付
け孔1の防水、防音、防塵のため、グロメット3と取り
付け孔1が密着し、かつ、グロメット3に貫通および固
定されたワイヤーハーネス等に加わる予期せぬ外力(車
体へ部品を組み付ける際、作業者がワイヤーハーネスを
引っ張ったり、押し込んだりする力や自動車走行中の振
動によるもの)等で外れないようにグロメット3の外形
(特に取り付け孔1への装着部分)を取り付け孔1より
大きく形成している。よって、取り付け孔1にグロメッ
ト3を装着する際、取り付け孔1の縁は、挿入側筒部2
の先端部2cを取り付け孔1に挿入後、取り付け孔1の
径より大きい基部2dを越えて溝部に嵌合して、両者が
固定される。この作業は、人手によるものなので、量産
時には作業者にとって重労働となる。この作業軽減を目
的に前記挿入側筒部2全体の肉厚を薄くすれば、弱い人
力でも容易に挿入側筒部2を変形させてグロメット3の
装着作業を行うことが容易に考えられる。しかし、挿入
側筒部2全体の肉厚が薄いと取り付け孔1とグロメット
3の固着力が弱くなり、例えばグロメット3に固定され
たワイヤーハーネスに電装部品等組み付けの際、予期せ
ぬ外力が加わると挿入側筒部2が変形し、グロメット3
が取り付け孔1から外れるという問題が生じる。よっ
て、信頼性優先で考えると挿入側筒部2全体の肉厚は、
人手で容易に変形できない程度の厚さが必要となる。こ
のように従来、組み付け作業性と組み付け後の信頼性の
両方を満足するグロメットが存在しなかった。

【発明の目的】本発明は、かかる点に鑑みてなされたも
のであり、取り付け板への取り付け作業が容易であり、
かつ、取り付け板への十分な固着力を有するグロメット
を提供することを目的としている。

【課題を解決するための手段】請求項1のグロメット
は、取り付け孔に挿入する長円形を成した挿入側筒部を
有するグロメットにおいて、前記挿入側筒部の中心軸に
対して外側に張り出した部分の肉厚が薄く、かつ、前記
外側に張り出した部分以外の部分の肉厚が厚く形成され
ることを特徴とするものである。
【0006】このように挿入側筒部において、周方向に
肉厚が厚い部分や薄い部分が混在しているので、挿入側
筒部を変形させる際、薄い部分に応力が集中するので弱
い力でも十分変形させることができる。なお、前記厚い
部分により、グロメット装着後の取り付け板への十分な
固着力を確保することができる。

【0008】取り付け孔に挿入し易いように挿入側筒部
を内側に萎めるように変形させるには、挿入側筒部の中
心軸に対して外側に張り出した部分を局部的に萎めるの
が作業効率上好ましい。例えば長円形を成した挿入側筒
部において、外側に張り出した部分といえば、曲率半径
が比較的小さいR曲線部であり、前記外側に張り出した
部分以外の部分といえば、直線あるいは曲率半径が比較
的大きい部分である。前記R曲線部の肉厚が薄く形成さ
れることにより、弱い力でも挿入側筒部を十分変形させ
ることができ、かつ、前記直線あるいは曲率半径が比較
的大きい部分の肉厚が厚く形成されることにより、取り
付け板への十分な固着力を確保することができる。

【実施例】以下、本発明を図面を参照して詳細に説明す
る。図1は、本発明の一実施例を示す説明図で、図1
(a)は正面図、図1(b)は図1(a)に示すA−A
部の断面図である。この図は、先に説明した図2と同一
部分には同一符号が付してある。図1に示すように3
は、グロメットであり、車体パネルの一部である取り付
け板4(例えば、エンジンルームと車室を仕切る車体パ
ネル、または、ドアの開閉支持側の車体パネルなど)に
形成されている取り付け孔1に密着するように装着され
ている状態を示す。このグロメット3が図2に示す従来
のグロメット3と異なる点は、挿入側筒部2の肉厚が周
方向に部分的に異なるように形成された点である。
【0010】例えば図1(a)に示すように、長円形筒
状を成す挿入側筒部2において、上下に配置される曲率
半径が比較的小さいR曲線部2aが先端部2cの最も薄
い箇所で約1.5mm程度の肉厚で形成され、かつ、左
右に配置される直線部2bが先端部2cの最も厚い箇所
で約4.5mm程度の肉厚で形成される。かつ、R曲線
部2aと直線部2bの接続部分は、肉厚が徐々に変化す
るなだらかな曲線により形成される。このようにR曲線
部2aが薄肉で形成されるので、挿入側筒部2の外周側
から内周側方向に外力を受けると応力集中により、特に
R曲線部2aは内周側に変形し易く、挿入側筒部2が萎
む。よって、取り付け孔1に挿入側筒部2を装着する
際、比較的弱い力で装着することが可能となり、作業性
が向上する。一方、直線部2bは、厚肉で形成されるの
で、グロメット3装着後、外力を受けても変形し難いた
め、ある程度の固着力を有し、簡単にはグロメット3は
外れないという利点を有する。
【0011】グロメット3は、ゴムあるいは柔軟な樹脂
等で形成され、少なくとも挿入側筒部2と鍔部6と筒部
7が一体に形成されたものである。なお、挿入側筒部2
と鍔部6の隣接箇所には、取り付け孔1の縁が密着嵌合
する溝部8が周方向に形成されていると密着性が増すの
でグロメット3と取り付け孔1の接触部分の防水、防
塵、防音が向上するので好ましい。また挿入側筒部2の
外形は、基部2dから先端部2cに向かって外周長さが
徐々に小さく形成されている。つまり、先細りした筒形
状を成していると装着作業上好ましい。一方、筒部7
は、グロメット3を貫通するワイヤーハーネスをカバー
する機能を最低限有していればよいので、図1(b)に
示すように肉厚は、薄く、かつ、均一であってよく、形
状は円筒形が好ましいが特に限定するものではない。

【発明の効果】本発明は、長円形を成した挿入側筒部を
有するグロメットにおいて、挿入側筒部の中心軸に対し
て外側に張り出した部分の肉厚が薄く、かつ、前記外側
に張り出した部分以外の部分の肉厚が厚く形成されるグ
ロメットを構成したから、取り付け穴に挿入する際、挿
入側筒部の中心軸に対して外側に張り出した部分を局部
的に萎め易くなり、作業効率を向上することができる。
なお、肉厚が厚く形成された部分によりグロメット装着
後の取り付け板への十分な固着力を確保することができ
