【従来の技術】インクジェット記録装置は記録用インク
をインクジェット記録ヘッド内の微細ノズルを通して噴

いる。このインクジェット記録装置による安定な記録を
実現するためには、非記録時に記録ヘッドのノズル内に
おけるインクの乾燥を防止する必要があり、従来、非記
録時におけるインクの乾燥を防止するためにインクジェ
ット記録装置には、記録ヘッドのノズル面に装着される
キャップ部材が備えられている。このようなキャップ部
材はインクジェット記録装置において、非記録領域の記
録ヘッド対向する位置に設けられ、非記録時もしくは記
録ヘッドに対する回復動作要求時に記録ヘッドのノズル
面に装着されるように構成されている。キャップ部材が
記録ヘッドのノズル面に装着される場合、キャップ部材
は記録ヘッドのノズル面に密着する必要があり、従来、
キャップ部材には樹脂系合成ゴムが用いられてきた。ゴ
ム材質で構成されたキャップ部材は、記録ヘッドのノズ
ル面に装着された場合、キャップ部材自身が変形するこ
とによりノズル面に密着することが可能となる。特開平
5−131639号公報記載のように、従来、キャップ
部材の材料としてはガス透過性の低い塩素化ブチルゴム
等が用いられている。

ップ部材とヘッドノズル面とが密着された後、吸引ポン
プ80が作動することによってインクを所定量吸引され
るように構成されている。
