This is because, when the surface of the particles is coated with silicon, water is prevented from penetrating into the particles (exhibiting water repellency). It is said that it is not possible to supply necessary hydration.

In addition, this weed soil has a high specific gravity, and transportation is expensive. The present invention provides a light and easy-to-handle herbicidal soil that suppresses not only germination and growth of seeds scattered in a spraying layer, but also germination and growth of seeds existing in layers below the germination and growth. It is what appeared.

Here, the wood-based organic matter includes wood-based organic matter such as wood chips, sawdust and papermaking sludge, as well as bark-based organic matter such as bark.

This is achieved by mixing particles of which the particle size has been adjusted into a 溶液 5% silicon solution (chemical name: siloxane) and stirring them. As a result, the surface of the particles is coated with silicon.

This herbicidal soil suppresses the growth of weeds for the following two reasons. First, first, wood-based organic matter contains a large amount of lignin, cellulose, semicellulose, and the like, and it is thought that these may play some growth-inhibiting effects on weeds (plants). Of course, since lignin and the like are hardly decomposable, they are not a nutrient source for weeds.

The contact point may be any of the root, stem, and leaf. In short, it is thought that growth is inhibited by physical contact of the living body. Therefore, even if the seeds under the herbicidal soil germinate and grow, contact with the herbicidal soil inhibits the growth. In addition, no adverse effect is exerted on the adjacent growing plant unless this inhibitor is directly contacted.

It seems to be. Therefore,
It does not germinate even if seeds scatter on the weeding soil. In addition, since these wood-based organic substances have a specific gravity of 1 or less, they are characterized by being light and easy to handle.

The container was set to the following conditions a to c. a. Grained papermaking sludge was scattered on the field soil and sprayed with a 3 cm thick herbicidal soil coated with silicon. b. Herbicidal soil with silicon coating on mountain soil was sprayed on the field soil with a thickness of 3 cm. c. The field soil was sprayed on the field soil with a thickness of 3 cm.

As a result, the grasses in the containers a to c also germinate, but after one week, the grasses in the containers a and b die and do not grow until the grass in the herbicidal soil is broken. In contrast, the grass in the container c grew as it was. This is thought to be due to the fact that the silicon-coated herbicidal soil blocks the infiltration of water from above, resulting in the death of the grass.

As a result, 5 plants of weak grass from the container of a and 12 plants from the container of b broke the weeding soil and grew. Although the growth of grass is hindered only by the presence of the water-repellent layer in the upper layer, it is considered that a material obtained by pulverizing papermaking sludge and coating with silicon has an effect of suppressing weed growth.

解消することにもなる。As described above, according to the herbicidal soil of the present invention, the effect of inhibiting the growth of weeds by a weed growth inhibitory factor such as lignin contained in wood-based organic matter and the effect of inhibiting the germination of seeds by water repellency by a silicon coating are obtained. Together, they exhibit a high herbicidal effect. Since the wood-based organic matter has a low specific gravity and a light weight, it is convenient for handling and storage. Further, since these do not use toxic chemicals, there is no fear of causing pesticide damage or the like. Furthermore, it can be manufactured at a low price. In particular, in the case of papermaking sludge, which has been conventionally disposed of as industrial waste, its use leads to effective use of resources and also solves problems such as pollution.
